I wouldn't grow algae in the overflow area, loose algae will clog your down pipe and further more how are you going to take out the black sheet to clean it? To have a successful scrubber you'll need direct lighting and a really good even flow over the material that you plan to grow your algae on. This is a really new concept of sticking rocks on glass.

Ups for the day

Lol......Pls don't be mistaken, my golden never ate pellets from day 1. Too timid to chase for pellets, so that's one of the reason why I have to feed frozen to supplement this little chap. Other than that it'll be hunting for pods together w e possum wrasse. With the same feeding regime I would say it's a very simple way to beef up fishes. Credit also goes to you for sharing frozen soaked in selcon.

Basically I'm trying to follow a photo period of 12hrs using blue and only 4hrs of daylight within the 12hr period. Lol.....Cedric and mike all are most welcome to visit. I learnt most from you guys and most willing to share. thanks digi, I think I'm successfully w these fishes is due to the initial collection process. Good collection equates to healthy stable fishes. Just to share my feeding regime, I feed my fishes 4 times a day with dr bassler pellets with a dash of spirulina powder mixed into it. To further supplement them further I feed frozen soaked in selcon Hope this helps to all our reefers

How to differentiate different types of clams?
Eniram replied to McNugget's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Basically clam species are identified via the shape of it's shell, maxima clams have a more tight narrow spacing of ribs as for cocea clams the ribs are further apart and it's got a smoother appearance. Lol.....hope this helps...if not...time to bring bf to visit lfs -
Thank you for the compliments, yours is the up coming nano tank of the quarter NTOQ, your tank bed is so clean! Amazing husbandry! Take shots of your venustus!

OMG! Look at these hybrids and rare fishes!
Eniram replied to Digiman's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Passion and dedication is the key word to those amazing Japanese tank, Cedric if you ever chance upon Japanese reefing magazine. You'll be amazed by the number of directional spot lights on individual sps colony, the details of which and how much par each colony should get is shocking The tank is like a stage and all the live stocks are the actors! -

If the tank is placed at the window area I assume the windows will be closed for good. And since it's near the window are window blinds gonna be installed as stray sunlight will encourage algae growth. Another pointer is compressor has to be installed first as once tank is up I don't know how e aircon dudes gonna bring e compressor over your tank plus over the wall. Extra cost for labour? Lol

Thank you all for your well wishes....................so embarrassing! make me shy only. Credit goes out to all the reefers who have helped me along this journey, a lot of unsung reefers who answered my many and sometimes idiot questions, from the most simple to the almost eccentric. You guys rock! My tank will not be what it is today without the proper guidance and the wealth of knowledge that was shared. Not forgetting other inspirational reef tanks. Let this be a source of inspiration to many out there, be it virgin reefers to great grandparents of this reefing community and may the vast experienced be passed on from reefer to reefers Any questions? Pls shoot and i'll try to answer the best I can or if possible the hidden tigers please share your experience. Thank you thank you all again! P.S; when I feel "unwell" I'll visit the clinic for some poison! thank you for the poison...doctor!

I will take e crab if you don't mind

Super market? Scarlet hermit crabs are very ideal, not aggressive and always small in size. Keeping oyster would be an issue as you'll need really cold waters and mussels harbor a lot of pest and parasites which I won't advice adding into your tank.
