I had mix results in trying to entice MI to eat. There is actually a product by SeaChem called "Entice" that adds artificial flavour to the food we feed them. So I mix a plate of frozen food that consist of market prawn, squid, a few pieces of scallops and a few cubes of brine shrimp. Added a few capful of the entice solution and feed my fishes. MI started eating after two feeds. But then again, I dun think the solution is a must. The rest of the reefers also had success without using any artificial flavouring. my 2 cents...

yo, Acidjazz is right. For a 5ft, you need more than 100kg of rocks. I bought mine from a variety of LFS. From IAquatic to Iwarna to CoralFarm. Also got some small pieces from MarineLife also. Their range is from $5 to $16. Get cured LR. But then again, who guarantees that its really cured? In this forum, alot of discussion was posted on using cured/uncured/dead rocks. Spend sometime to search around. Alot of experts in SRC. Can ask them on curing rocks also.

happy reefer, its difficult to speculate what causes the tick tick sound unless you have seen the mantis shrimp. It is high chance that there is one of them in the rocks but unless you see it we cannot be sure. Piston shrimps also makes the sound, turbo snails also makes the sound etc. But yes, if you really do see one of the mantis, then take out the rock and leave it dry for awhile, that fellow will crawl out instantly because it needs water. No need to dip it in fresh water (At least that's how I caught mine). They take out the small fishes when they grow big. Lester, I will upload a picture of my trap pest box this evening probably.

Thanks bro. Really appreciate your reply. FYI, I got a Trap Pest (by Aquamedic) a few days ago and I almost caught a big crab last night. That fellow was trying to take the bait out but failed. I disturbed the trap to make it easier to enter but i think the fellow knows it's a trap after that. Will try a different bait and a different placing tonight.

Lester can share how you catch your mantis shrimp? For me, I caught mine simply by taking out the rock it is hiding. Leave the rock in a dry pail and it will come out on its on. I suspect there is another one in my tank still. Kept hearing the "click" sound once in awhile.

Guys, Just like to share with you the efforts of the past week's sleepless nights. I learnt of this little fellow only a few weeks ago. It was very elusive. Sometimes you get to see only its pair of eyes poping out from the critters and the next sec its gone. I suspect it is responsible for the death of my 2x bengal cardinal, 2 x cleaner wrasse, 3 x pecular clowns. Blame all on it huh..keke. Ok, the image might be a little blur. It gets blurry when i try to focus it closely. It's green and it's gorgeous. Too bad I cannot keep it. It's notorious for whacking small fishes.

yes, its probably the crab. Want to catch it in action? Know where is your star first, once the lights are all switch off, wait for an hour or even lesser. On the light and you will see the crab biting on to one of the legs of your starfish. Caught my culprit like this two months ago. Anyway, my starfish died shortly after still.

Got one MI two weeks ago. For the first week it refuses to eat anything i throw in. Flooding the water column with food does not work for the stubborn fellow. Starting this week, I tried seaweed and I entice the food with a solution from seachem. My MI eats live brine shrimp/seaweed/mix food now. Will train it to eat pellets a few weeks later. Yes, it needs lots of swimming space. Its very elegant and its the nicest fish in the tank. reefsafe for my tank.

I am facing the same situation here. Got a rose anemone before CNY and it has gone into hiding eversince. Cannot even feed it due to my rock scaping. Will have to monitor and wait for it to move out.

yes, they need lots of swimming space. Read in the net that minimum 120 gallons of water required. Find one that is already feeding on pellets. I got mine a few days back. It is still not eating.

Get lots of LR. That is the key. That's all.

I tried using AZ-NO3. I think it dramatically reduced the O2 in my tank, my LS died after 2 weeks. Best way I suppose is to always do a water change. Got enough circulation in the tank?

ya, the guys are right, I am still waiting for my FR(orion) from Aquaz but meanwhile I put 500ml of rowaphos in a filter bag and dump it in my sump. Three days later, my phosphate level remains unchange (abt 0.3ppm, the level where corals will all die ..keke). You really need rowa to be in a FR. BTW, petmart says the local distributor for rowa has stop bringing rowaphos in. They are selling this brand call Aqua phos (i think) from now on.

yo in case you dun know. MD55 runs at 100W. Think twice if you are footing the bills every month. But it's undeniable that its powerful. Most use it to run Beckett skimmers.

you can try the LFS opposite 10mile junction(Bukit Panjang). I saw some dead rocks on their shelves last week. Didn't ask about the price though.

Really? I got the price from S**L*** and W*K** leh.. Lucky I didn't commit yet. But umm.. I learnt from alpharomeo,he got his LR from CF and it was $18/kg!!! So i thought my rate was cheap huh. Then again, I saw his rocks, they were really big. ya, will check out with SRC's sponsors.

i think the market price range is as below now: cured: $14-16/kg uncured: $10-12/kg dead:$8 imagine a few dollars difference is amplified 60-80x when we need to size up 4-5 feet tanks. For accurate figure, must approach LFS.
