Well, the move of the fish back to the main tank is finally done... Except for 1 casualty... ironically one of the healthiest fishes which was the yellow wrasse.. it had grown twice it's size and started having alpha male markings.. found it at the bottom fo the blue tub last night when I got back home from work Hope that everything remains stable and the fishes get used to the NEW rockscape and water... fingers crossed that they become happy critters again and I can go back to LFSING! And here's a vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w-hIA2ccq0

wah 2 salt water areas? I think I peng san already You guys come and maintain for me la.... LOL:eyebrow: ... anyway Green Chapter too busy this weekend so I'm arranging for them to come this following week to hook it up. I hope their assumptions of the water flow and existing piping is correct since I have ZILCH plans from my seller about how it was originally done up. No la, we want some koi.... my parents like it and just 2 small ones first... know zilch about freshwater so just 2 small ones.. and slowly does it. Algae SCRUBBER outside? wah liow..... My parents complaining about the tank stuff all over the place.. ... AHAHHAHAH ... well... update next week or so when the water feature is up and the fishes are back in..... I see the stuff in the tank rotting ( white film everything). When I test with my Salifert kits, I get the following results just this morning : ammonia and nitrite is zero, nitrate is about 10-20ppm, phosphate is 0.028ppm KH : 7DKH PH : 8.1 SG : 1.024 and oh yes, the ecolamp.. is still alive and running... been turning on moonlight the past week since tank is cycling, turned on some blue light today for a while for the corals to get used to some daylight once the fishes go in. Kept my Gisseman in my store room behind.. JUST IN CASE.

LOL !! spiderman gloves!!! It was those coral gloves to protect the arms and hands when handling LS.. bought it JUST IN CASE need... but most of the time I just reach all the way in with my bare hands la.. can't be bothered.. until one day my finger nail kena whack by the pistol shrimp, I started using THAT... as at first I thought I had a mantis shrimp in my tank. Managed to catch the shrimp during the decomissioning of the tank and here it is before I unceremoniously ended it's life.... I didn't use shrimp during my current cycling.. just throw in lots of Fish food and hope it rots.. I can see some of them rotting liow... hope everything is in time for the fish move on monday evening. The last time I cycled "properly" although after 10 days there was a spike of ammonia then it all dropped as per normal.. but this time... there was no spike so to speak... I just hope it's properly done.... all my precious wrasses and anthias! and my Blue Sea PIG! *cross fingers* anyway, I am also engaging GREEN CHAPTER to hook up the water feature in front of my house. Here is a pic of it. I can't wait to get it up and running as since it'e been raining, there is always water ponding and I have to manually scoop it out to prevent mosquito breeding. I just hope that Jake/Roland can come down ASAP to get it done. Been dropping in some lemon grass essential oils on the left over bits I can't scoop out to chase away those pesky mossies!!!! I kena bitten until now ketchup calls me a blotchy anthias.. basket.

Hello all, it's been AGES since we have updated but Ketchup and I have moved house and the tank is currently cycling in it's new locale.. Been dosing Prodibio digest and biotim to boost my bacteria cultures. so far the past week after the tank move last thursday the 28th, my ammonia and nitrite is all zero. Phosphate is at a relatively low 10-13ppB ( not PPM) and my nitrates as usual is off the roof at about 20-50ppm based on the coloration.... the move current setup with my livestock in the blue tub. It looks shorter because it's sitting on the living room floor but the dining room area where the blue tub is residing is about 1.5-2 feet higher than the living area. the rockscape which was done by eugene. Too tired after moving house etc to do it so I just got them to do it. got Irwarna to deliver the 700L of NSW. I cant wait to get back to LFS-ing. I just pray that all my wrasses and tangs survive the blue tub and then back to the tank next week... pray pray pray pray.

Wow great show guys.... Sorry ketchup and I could not make it.... hey post videos leh I can see all the esteemed and hunsum reefers presenting.... LOL

My fish had white spot after I introed a new fish in and I just left it.. I let them fight it out, if they are healthy they will be able to get over it... I just make sure I fed them better quality food dosed with garlic guard and selcon. My Blue Tang, Yellow Tang and some wrasses were covered in white spot but after 2 weeks or so, it cleared up. EVery reef system will have white spot, it's whether or not it rears it's ugly head when fish get stressed. You can never eliminate it. Previously when I tried to catch and do hypo, you either end up stressing the fish even more which cause even more white spot or they do not survive the hypo. good luck to your tank.

hi puppet no probs.... I hope that I am stating my sentiments factually and as unbiased as I possibly can to help others who read this make an informed decision. ok now to your questions 1. Yes for a 4 footer , take a 4 footer and don't make the foolish mistake that I did and assumed a shorter one would be enough as from the photos I saw online and on the broschure, the LEDs went right to the end. I measured this morning and both ends were... *GASP* 3 INCHES SHORT.. that means I bought a 40" but I only got 34 inches worth of LED strips!!! I do feel a little put off but I bought it at my own risk thus so be it. I accept my purchase. Anyway, I compensated it by hanging it higher so that the light is able to hit the corners. As you can see from the website : Ecolamp the pictures led me to believe the LED strips were to the end.. hhmm... I might be wrong so if anyone wishes to correct me, please do! I am all ears. 2. We decided on Ecolamp because at the time, our current knowledge was that the good thing about it is it's auto dimming feature ( the lights gradually change from blue to daylight to blue and to moonlight), it is slim, light and sleek design. Also, I was inspired that even Chingchai from Thailand was using Ecolamp on his nano tank.. so we kinda thought HEY.. if he is using, it must have some standard here yeah? Sadly mine died in 2 months.. sometimes lemons just keep on coming.. 3.WE are keeping mainly LPS but we are now exploring going into SPS which is why we bought KR92 and before hand I had my Gisseman infiniti which had 2 x 250MH. 4.Would I buy Ecolamp again? Only time can tell honestly..... in all fairness, I'd have to give this replacement set a go to see how long it lasts me. I will however be honest to say that my faith in ecolamp has been severely damaged and it was very disconcerting to WAIT 5-6 days for a replacement timer spare part which I expect a distributor to stock to arrive from HK ; only to find out the whole lamp has died on me, and then WAIT AGAIN for another 9 days for a brand new light set to arrive. Keeping spare parts is something that all distributors should practice to avoid unnecessary delay and not wait until customers have issue then ship over. Best is they keep at least 1 spare set of the standard lengths so that if anyone has issue, immediate replacement. I understand this is expensive for high end products however I am sure businesses can always negotiate. As another reefer had pointed out, what if it was a pump? a chiller? And no spare parts? Goodbye Livestock! Then who is going to compensate the reefer in question? how many of us will keep spare lights, chiller or pumps? LOL<_< anyway good luck.... and I hope I have enlightened anyone reading this but do note this is entirely my opinion.

Hi Puppet, well honestly, I didn't think of buying 2 units as I think it's more of a hassle to have 2 lighting units hanging above my tank, I'd need to install 2 more movalite tracks to hang it from as my tank is actually 4 feet long and 2.5 feet WIDE. So no, I would not have bought 2 smaller light sets. It would be double trouble! HAHA And the thing about ecolamp which I just realise is that the LED strips do not go all the way the entire length so if you buy a 40" like I did the LED strips end about 1.5 inches from the end.. so actually you only get 37" worth of LED strips because the ends is where they have some stand of some sort. And I wasn't aware of this because when I pre-ordered it, there was NO DEMO unit for me to touch and feel. So to compensate for it, I have now lifted it about 1 feet off the water surface so that the light is able to hit ALL the corners of my tank as previously when it was much lower, the corners were a bit shadowy. Something for you to take note of. And if you wonder why I bought a 40" when my tank is 48" ; is because I thought that 40" is enough and when I asked Janet whether it's enough she said it should be and no problem lighting it up. Technically that is true but the intensity of the light at the corners will obviously not be as strong so you have to not put anything, there which I don't. and yes one of my clams died... it was actually doing rather well.. when suddenly after the ecolamp went wonky and I had to replace it with my Gisseman it suddenly retracted and within 4 days withered and became fish food! My blue gornio is no longer opening up as well...not as long as before but very short little stubs instead. I hope my blue gornio recovers as my black clowns are hosting it! good luck to your purchase puppet.

No probs puppet, I wish you the best in finding the right brand of LED for yourself and your friend. Do ask around and then when u think you got the right one, close your eyes and plunge... and pray.. My LED has been replaced. Ah do and Zhi Kang were here and they removed the Gisseman and put back the LED. They had set the time and I then did up the auto settings again ( did it so many times previously I kinda knew what to do!) Start : 10am blue light 1pm : Daylight 8pm Bluelight 11pm Moon light 2am : Lights out. I sincerely hope that this replacement set will last and not ###### up like the first one. According to Ah do, the capacitors and basically the wiring of this newer set is new and improved... only time will tell. I have not kept on GIsseman yet but left it on the floor near the tank JUST IN CASE .... I shall not SAY IT!!! but u know what I mean!....

hhmm gerald, I guess you're right., probably the day I got the first set.. but the thing is, there is no official documentation at *that* time when I got the goods and the only official documentation is the invoice which I paid in full back in May 2010. Hence, I guess when I saw the SMS reply of "receipt of 1st set", I immediately thought of that invoice dated May 2010 and not the actual day when I got the goods. good point.. oh well.... que sera sera.. live and learn!

Update : A new guy : Zhi Kang from AM will be coming to install the ecolamp this evening. It has arrived. As to solo's query on warranty, initially I was told that it is from the date of receipt and not from this replacement however I had pointed out that mine was a pre-order whereby my receipt is dated early May 2010 whereas the unit only arrived early June, not to mention it died after merely 2 months. So Janet said that it is some international warranty rule however she had amended the warranty to July 2010 for me so I guess that's the best I can get la. Oh well, nevermind, I just want my lamp back. and then hope this time round it doesn't bust in 2 months, although I think it should not even bust in a few YEARS. let's see how this one fares...*fingers crossed* However I am now hesitant whether or not to subject my corals to another round of lighting change considering that I will be decomming in 2 months time when I move house. Any thoughts on this?

was going to mention about the oakley sunnies too.. hahahahah.. your corals look really great lemon.. mine.. haiz.... not doing well.. the favia I got from you is the only one doing well.. the rest have kinda suffered... sadly

As of this Tuesday morning, NOPE... not a tweet or a sound ..... Will be calling AM later today to enquire whether Ecolamp has sent out my replacement... I wonder now whether I should even put it back to the main tank.. not sure how the sudden change in lighting is affecting my corals but during the period when the ecolamp started to get wonky and the change back to my Gissema MH, 1 clam has died...litterally. withered and died... over a week... And it was placed right on top with maximum exposure to light. Before that it was doing AOK.... strange phenomena .... anyway.... what can ya do.. will definitely update when I finally get it.. so far it's been almost 3 weeks since I highlighted this issue on the 9th of Aug .... oh yes I did SMS AM last thursday to confirm whether or not ecolamp was sending out my replacement on time and apparantly they were.. so I have yet to confirm..... so later la...

UPdate : AM has SMS me today that Ecolamp will be sending them the replacement early next week so technically, I should get my replacement by middle of next week. I had also asked for an email stating that it will be a brand new piece and not a repaired one which Janet replied to me Ccing the generic Ecolamp info e-mail. From the time lag, it seems to me that it takes 1 week lead time for Ecolamp to do OR send out a replacement piece to me. No reason was given and I am led to make my own assumptions that which could be the following : 1. They have other orders to fulfill so my replacement is sent out later 2. They keep zero inventory so they make only when orders or such a case like mine appears. who knows? Whatever the reason, I have replied to AM thanking them for the info and for a request of the tracking number as if it's by DHL express, then it should be an overnight delivery.... after all, I work for DHL, I know how long it takes! I had also let it be known in the email cc-ing ecolamp that this sort of QC standard is intolerable and the only reason why I can wait till next week is because of my own backup Gisseman lighting. If my tank was SPS dominated, I would see allot of corals already. oh well, sometimes.. I guess as what puppet says... we do get hit by lemons and I guess this is one of them! I just wish the God of 4D/TOTO would hit me with such big lemons every now and then.....
