  1. The black mat is from CR, it's sort of a thinner but harder mat to level the tank instead of the strofoam and looks better
  2. Ya, apparently the Centrophye species, like flame, coral beauty etc should be relatively safe for the zoas but not the LPS/Clams.. we'll see maybe 1-2 weeks time then go to your LFS!
  3. how much are u selling, care to pm me?
  4. So far, i think it;s been good.. relatively low heat, hardly feel it. Brightness wise, it;s bright enough, coverage wise, ours is 3X2x 20 inches height and almost full coverage using one since this is the 156w model. The blue lights are also more natural. One other good thing is the blue and white light overlaps so you don't see some blue, some white area in your tank, unlike say Par 38 or some other LED... so far quite happy about it. Bad thing, well, there's no gradual light, so it's on/off white, blue or both.
  5. Ya, thats why only keeping dwarf angels... anyway no hurry, zoas can stock up slowly
  6. wahh... 10 dosing pumps!! next time will do that
  7. U already remove it right? In that case, should restart the refugium with new pack of mud. You can google or look at reefcentral for discussion on miracle mud.
  8. yes, N30 is weeyang... FOr CRA, so far all the tanks made by them are very well and their services are good, prompt and workmanship is good.
  9. Nice look at the back? I guess that's some sitting area and the small compartment is for chiller?
  10. HM, we still using Ecolamp on the main tank, this is a new 3 ft rimless tank for dwarf angels, zoas and SPS, that's linked up to the sump.
  11. Terryz, in the past the hawaiian black is pure chunky black sand but i saw the recent batch, it seems to have some white speckle sand mix.. it's not as much as the indo black.
  12. Yup NO sand is more grayish and i don't quite like it but it's more fine than the Caribsea Hawaiian Black. The black tahiti moon sand can be found at madpetz
  13. ya i rem.. actually u can make a fish room out of the existing main tank area
  14. It depends on a few things.. one is whether will you be directing your wavemakers/return downwards. Fine sand will be blown around easily. second consideration is how thick the sand bed is.. if thicker, u may want to use some fine at bottom (to aid the bacteria growing to break down your nitrates) and cover with rough sand on top. Also, if you keep wrasses, by right, fine sand is better for them as rough sand may scratches them when they dive in. If you keep certain gobies, they probably need rough sand to build their tunnel/home
  15. ya... actually for your place, plan carefully and "combined" all your tanks!
  16. I think NSW is good for CYCLING new tank. For weekly water change, RO/DI + Saltmix is still the best, most consistent also.
  17. Do consider how big you want the substrate to be... hawaiian black is a lot bigger and has some white sand now. The Tahitian black sand is super fine like sugary fine
  18. Yup.. still have not decide on sequence of releasing them from prison cells as may be getting 1 or 2 more dwarf angels..
  19. haha, we saw but too exp especially since we never keep dwarf angels before... maybe in future.. I would love to keep jocs and interruptus in future
  20. technically most of these are live sand and will remain LIVE unless you remove it so I don't see why there's an expiry. However, over time, the sand do get less as some of it may be dissolved, water change, stuck to rock and removed in one way or another. I use caribsea and NO sands.. so far no problem, new set up also use caribsea Taihitian moon sand, so far so good.
