  4. Reborn sells carribsea also.. Anyone has experience with Carribsea black sand? i am looking at the hawaiian 1... looks very cool. Also, can i mix say some non-live sand, which are finer grade at the bottom (black sand also) and then top it up with the live black sand? Any difference in this way?
  5. oh ok... didn't think Henry sells them as well.. will try and look around.
  6. We are getting a DI unit but havent decide on which yet... any good recommendation?
  7. http://www.livesand.com/ i guess this is the one? Looks great... how much is AM selling? http://www.reefsand.com/ Anyone tried this? And is it available in SG? The good thing i guess for this is the black sand comes in different grade.
  8. Which LFS has seawater and what's the costs like? The other suggestion we had is to use distilled water but we decided that it's not very practical and costly too (S$7.50 for 10 litres?) How's the Nature Ocean black sand? I don't recall seeing that at AM when i last visit their shop in JK before they close. I quite like the carribsea version and online review seems quite positive. We most likely will go for black sand as we like the look as our cabinet will be all black with flower motifs and also using black silicon. With the blue artinic light and MH, it should be quite nice. Keep the suggestions coming... Desi and me will keep this thread updated as we go along and hopes to learn more from the sifus in SRC
  9. I saw some caribsea black sand at REBORN just now..

  17. these algae are those thats purplish in colour right? It was growing rampantly after we change our light to white+artinic blue. whats the use of the algae? So recently, i introduced a tomini tang which essentially eats up most of it..
  18. in the 1st place... i guess you have to check if India Customs allows you to bring them in? if not, better email the exporters here to arrange for you. You can always come down and inspect and select i guess..
  19. Reeftask... Desi is my wife.. Zip and Zap is just our 2 yellowtail damselfish that zips around.. so just call that:P Rocky is becos the shrimp is boxer shrimp la.. i very unimaginative 1... ketchup is becos the clownfish is tomato clownfish lor! So if we add another tomato clownfish, prob will name it HEINZ or SINSIN!
  20. No chiller atm... our temp seems stable enough at about 27-28 degree. btw, i'm named after our clownfish if you havent noticed... LOL.
  21. very tempting as i wanna add one small tomato crown to my exisiting one.. too bad is paired . gl on the sale!
  22. my method is fairly simple.. 1) use tap water thru my filter; 2) add salt to the correct salinity 3) Adjust ph by adding canned soda water... Once PH and salinity is correct, add into tank then test for amonia, nitrate, nitrite, calcium etc and add in the various addictives to 'rebalance" the tank.
