  1. i would say for most fishes, 1-2 times should be sufficient and you can throw in a little more when u feels like it or wants to demo to your friends on the fishes feeding or whatever... i do want to introduce some sort of continuous feeding for corals and some of the fishes like anthias.. phantkon feeders.. they are suppose to eat more or less constantly so it should help. for tangs, a seaweed clip is good also... but we use that as supplement feeding once every few days.
  2. Powder Blue has always been my fav fish since i started reefing abt 3 yrs ago.. however, i feel, for such a fish, given its characteristics and size, you prob need at least a 6 ft tank for it to be comfortable and grow... I was very tempted to buy and try for my 4 ft but decided against it already. Instead, now we are trying the Powder Brown instead.. as it doesn't grow as big and less prone to ich and less aggressive. If i upgrade my tank in future to 6 ft or bigger... then i will definitely try Powder Blue and maybe AT..
  3. hmm, i feel u can have more live rocks.. make some nooks and crevices as well as some small bridge/overhang. Some fishes don't like much light. Also, imo, i think sometimes not as nice to have all the fishes out swimming... it's nice to see them play some hide and seek!
  4. Thats sad man... you have such a nice tank.. Do share with us so we can maybe avoid any mistake or accidents in future.
  5. i generally find epoxy difficult to use and take a long time to bind... for the cloudiness, u prob did not mix it properly i think... u need to hold the corals to the rock for at least 30 sec or so. for rics, i think using superglue is the way to go.. i am trying to get the loctites superglue for my rics as well.
  6. ya... FAST HANDS FAST LEGS other things very S L O W
  7. i see.. so only about 4ml per day.. Ok.. back to the drawing board and more research if i find any other possible options, will bounce it off you
  8. Hi SM I have a couple of questions on your DIY system I know that you use this to dose 0.1 ml at a time, the 0.1ml is every minute? Is that the case as you mentioned that you dose 43ml per day... which is about 7hrs+? Also, what is the frequency it is being released by the pump? every hour or every 15mins (i recall reading it somewhere...)? Lastly, if it's being released at say every hour, at 0.1ml/min, thats abt 6ml/hr, so whats the harm of getting a pump that can only pump 1.0ml at a time instead of 0.1ml? I just can't get the feeding pattern that you use for this DIY feeder.. I think it's a great idea and lifesaver for people who travels a lot like myself. Just need to get the logic and the feeding right.
  9. whats PT? powder blue tang?
  10. Don't think so... Desi and me was thinking of doing it but cant find the pump locally.. Prob must check with medical device distributor to hospitals. SM, i saw the prices on ebay varies from US$99 to say abt US$300+ and in some instances, brand new item list prices is over US$1000. Any reliable source?
  11. Very nice rics... like those mini super sweet grapes
  12. sometimes expiry date may not yet reach but the product may already degraded due to improper storage/handling... so careful inspection will help.. i was told like for NO sand, those black sand may turn brownish..
  13. i don't think you should wash them as i am fairly certain they are still alive. Do watch out for some that may be too long not sold... maybe those will have problem..
  14. hmm, actually if i am not wrong, it's better to face the wavemakers upwards rather than downwards.. best if you can create the bubbling ripple effect as it helps with the gas exchange to aerate the water.
  15. Your substrate seems quite coarse hor? be careful if u keep bottom dwellers as rough substrate may injured them if they "zoom" in too fast.
  16. ya... thats why i don't want to dose too many things... otherwise you cant even tell which is working our tank only 1 1/2 mth old so slowly do lor.. no hurry
  17. heh.. quite a few reefer recommend this.. but i don't really want to "overdose" all these buffers la... as long as corals are healthy, i am ok with it.. of the 2 alveo and 2 gonio, all 4 are very healthy and the purple one starts to open up quite a bit already. The red one are fully open but not fully extended only so i am fine with it actually.
  18. ya.. add in some flakes and cyclopeeze... shd be adding some garlic guard and i think maybe some pellets in future... just testing this time round
  19. haha.. actually hor we bought the ice cube thing also.. but i think since the food we make is not really liquid food so not need to freeze in ice cube tray (we already have a spare 1). Any case, i bought some small ziplocks which basically can fill say abt 3-4 teaspoons and ziplock and freeze it lor... easier i think.. As for Henrys' gourmet, we also have it but sometimes it's not available.. anyway, not a lot of trouble la... i think if we do it the right way and get the procedures and portions right, prob can do 1 batch of say 30-40 servings within 1 hr.. leftovers, will be our dinner lor!
  20. haha.. just anyhow hamtam 1 la... i threw in: abt 10 small to medium size prawn abt 10 small scallops abt 5 slices of fish meat 5 cubes of mysis shrimp 5 cubes of brine shrimp 2 teaspoon of cyclopeeze 2 teaspoon of seaweed flakes some seawater just blend it and it makes abt 40 servings.. abt 1 teaspoon per serving.. i scoop into small ziplock bags that i bought. I think we will throw in some garlic guard each time we unfreeze each serving. We threw in the remnants in the blender and they just moped up everything so i just they will definitely eat it.. just gotta make sure it's the right amount to avoid overfeeding and to add in more nutrients..
  21. what is the YT eating in the LFS? maybe you can feed the same stuffs... i think is just a little stress, nothing to worry too much.
  22. ya,, slowly lor.. is your tank open top? Be careful as damsels are good "jumpers"
  23. just keep trying... our Powder Brown wasnt eating and we try everything... then after abt 5 days, suddenly eats EVERYTHING.. so keep trying.. Cliping some seaweed is a good idea..
