  1. Hi Trench1, Sorry can't make it on Sat. Good luck with the sale Regards Ketchup
  2. quite common... is the ric encrusted on some small coral chip before you glue it? U can't glue directly to rock.. It probably floats away.
  3. coraline algae are purple-looking stuffs that encrust on your rocks.. it should be fairly easy to spot. Some live rocks you got from Iwarna probably will have it...
  4. Well done, most of the corals looks healthy!
  5. If price is no concern i think definitely Vortech.
  6. Underwater cam? Try Olympus... tough and pretty handy without the need for external casing. Maybe can get the older model, lower pixels but much cheaper. Anyway, anything more than 6 mega pixels can print 8R size liao.. if for web use, 2-3 mega pixel is more than enough.
  7. Very nice... not commonly seen on LFS here leh... even if it's indo-pac fish.
  8. yeah, no worries.. they may close up for a while but once used to it, it should be fine
  9. Hey kiko... Ya, take more photos.. it helps a lot. I still look back at our set up photos sometimes
  10. haha.. YT, we got some SPS and zoas to try... will try and take some photos and post.
  11. Hey LaW, nice to finally meet u at GO the other day.. tank still looking good man!
  12. Ahhh... They actually eat this in China... I tried it before in Xiamen.... Anyway, take a break and come back stronger with a better tank! Good Luck and Jia You!
  13. I think Red bamboo may not be accepted by some of the tangs... especially those already used to the clipped Nori/seaweed.
  14. I think prob the butterfly... in our tank, i dont see the butterfly nip at them but they are all gone! so cant be coincident
  15. How big are the clownfishes and is it hosted in anemone? Clownfishes are very hardy, with very high success rate. As they say, Mantis shrimp is the likely culprit. If they are hosted in anemone, hardly any fish will go near them.
  16. STN? I assume is die off? Different spots in the tank has different waterflow and lighting, which are the 2 key factors. So I would say those are the main reasons.
  17. JL2309... ya i heard from Nelson. For the heat, it's warm air and since it doesn't kick in as often, i think shd be bearable for you. As for amplifier... We bought the Yahama RX-667 http://hometheater.about.com/od/audiocomponentreviews/fr/Yamaha-Rx-V667-7-2-Channel-Home-Theater-Receiver-Product-Review.htm http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/receivers/yamaha-rx-v667 http://www.whathifi.com/Review/Yamaha-RX-V667/ I think it's as good the the Onkyo (608?) and Denon (1911 or 2311 i think) model that i shortlisted but decided to go with Yamaha.
  18. @JL2309 B&W MT 30 http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/Speakers/Theatre_Solutions/Mini_Theatre/MT-30.html http://www.techdigest.tv/2006/11/review_bw_mini.html http://www.whathifi.com/review/bw-mt-30
  19. Main advantage is the chilling time is drastically reduced. In fact it takes about 20mins to chill down to 26 degrees (from 27) whereas in the past it will take more than 1 hr to chill down from 27 to 26.5. So it can chill down to lower temperature at shorter time. So more energy efficient. Another advantage is to remove the chiller from inside our dining room to the outdoor patio so we don't feel the heat. lastly, a new 1HP outdoor condenser unit costs about the same as 1/4 HP artica chiller.. so you can see the difference/savings. If we had set up the tank in our current place last year Jan (we moved in Oct last year), we would have definitely gone for condenser unit in the first place and prob a bigger tank (min 6 ft)
  20. Compressor is actually outdoor... It's outside our living, near the sheltered patio, next to it is a small wooden cabinet for our FW fish food etc and then the small FW water feature.
  21. Yes, part of the MT30 package. If you interested, get the MT30 instead of MT25... the subwoofer is superb
  22. You temperature is too high for marine tank. At most you should go is 28 degree. if you do not want to use chiller, i suggest you switch from MH to LED and add some fans for surface cooling or some ice (in 1.25l pepsi bottle) to the sump for periodic cooling.
