I don't know if this sale is still going on, but I bought my Eheim 2213s from Petm@rt for only $85 the other time. *inclusive of sponge media of course* can try going there to get a brand new one. (=

yes. the real mccoy. the real five members of Duran Duran. woohoo now I'm salivating in anticipation. I hate things like that. they make you wonder if you should invest in fishes or in a band you used to support like an idiot during the formative years in the 80s bleah

any fish literature to recommend
terryansimon replied to terryansimon's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
thank you people..... but one question do any of the books recommended have a compatibility index? or is that a feature exclusive to the World Wide Web only? coz I'm looking for one easy reference where I can check if certain fishes are compatible with each other. thanks! (= -
ah just like what it says on the website. the issue here however is, am I only restricted to ATI if I want this feature? or are there other available models out in the market? thank you (=

Bio Balls - Good or bad??
terryansimon replied to andez07's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
sorry AT but I still don't get it. =\ I know the bottom of the overflow chamber has holes to allow the water to flow into the sump. so this "piping" merely elevates the level of the hole? but how does the water enter it at the end of the day? sorry for being so blur. =\ -
newbie tank questions
terryansimon replied to terryansimon's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
but from what I heard, they don't come with cabinets right? )= -
I was thinking of that....but that would require you to do it religiously... but what if you're not at home for a while? I can't really rely on my family members to do it for me. got spooked out the other time when I told my mum/maid to feed the fish with one cube of bloodworms daily. they took it as one cube of bloodworms until I came back. lukcily only 3d/2n chalet. sian siah. then again maybe my instruction not clear also lah. hehz

Bio Balls - Good or bad??
terryansimon replied to andez07's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
then how will the water return to the sump if there is a massive pipe blocking its way? or is it sucked into the sump via the pipe? if so, how is that done? sorry me damn swakoo and stupid. =\ -
anyone has fish literature/read ups/books to recommend? preferably one in colour and a description of fish characteristics and all. because the ones I've seen so far are either in black and white or just a few images of fishes. maybe I'm looking at the wrong place. I hope I placed this thread in the correct location =x

Worth the trip????

Henry of Marine Life. what can I say. he is a very VERY nice guy who is more than willing to dish out valuable advice to me. when I told him I was a complete moron when it comes to marine fish, he didn't laugh at all, but merely said "we all have to start somewhere" I felt very encouraged by it and its a shop I'll definitely patronise again. in fact I'll be doing so next week to get my chiller from him. hahaha haven't even bought the tank yet and I buy chiller already. -
wah hot stuff siah. hahaha nah I think I'll be making the sump tank together with the main tank when I custom make my own tank. the problem is however, I was wondering about your hang-on ref system. urh...just where exactly does it hang onto?

Lr On Top On Dsb/ Tank??
terryansimon replied to hbpencil's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
stupid question coming up... so am I right to say that a sump can also be used as a refugium? as in one of the compartments of the sump will have a DSB and macroalgae growing in it? or must it be a sperate partition that is connected to the sump? thanks for the help (= -
newbie tank questions
terryansimon replied to terryansimon's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
you have yet to PM me the lobang for your tank maker leh....the one where you said was very cheap or something like that. hehz. oh yah I got a few other quotations via PM/SMS/friends.....quite good as well. why don't I consolidate the offers for all the tanks, and then I create them as one lump posting/PM to you. then the two of us can consider and go get it made together, with a better price from the tank maker hopefully. (= cheers and eh. remember to PM me the lobang hor. -
newbie tank questions
terryansimon replied to terryansimon's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
OH oops! sorry my bad. sorry lah. my brain is loaded with chemistry equations, physics formulas and goodness knows what else. exams coming round the corner. once again sorry. (= -
in one of the sponsor's websites *I think its eAquanature.com or something*, I stumbled upon an ATI lighting system with the auto dimming feature. hmm....was wondering if there are any other such lighting systems in the market? not that I don't like the one on EAquanature....but just wanted to see if the market has any other models/variants or not. oh yeah the autodimming feature is suppose to mimic sunrise and sunset, much like the moonlight feature in most lights. except the auto dimmer is controlled by an electronic ballast that has a variable resistor inside the ballast itself, hence dimming the lights to a pre-programmed time. then again, I may be wrong. so....any type of help will be much appreciated! (=

wait a minute. you build sumps for people? mmm! can I like, ask you to help me build one? hehz?

for a tank that size, weight factor will play a highly important function. 12mm will be the minimum width for it, as anything less will be flirting with danger *I may be wrong* because of the weight factor involved in the massively huge tank, its supports aka the cabinet will have to be made of sturdy wood as well. check that all the beams are made from solid unrecycled and uncompressed wood. not running them down but generally recycled wood is normally weaker in terms of structure. then again I may be wrong. (= the long of the short of it is that the tank must be secured, and it must be able to cope with the tremendous load/strain placed onto the surface of the tank's glass by the water/live rocks and not to mention the sand bed *if you do intend to include one* mind sharing me where you got your quotation for your tank? for I'm also thinking of custom making a 4 by 2 by 2.5 for myself. sourcing around for quotations at this very present moment.
