better to DIY your own fan. I've heard of nothing but bad comments towards these sort of made-for-aquarium type of fans. especially with salt water and electronic circuitry. a recipe for disaster.

thats the problem. I don't know what I'll be keeping as yet. in fact, I haven't even gotten the tank yet, let alone the lights. only got the chiller, the return pump and the impending arrival of the EC 180. I was just thinking long term, when I dare venture into corals....so yeah. was wondering if it'd be more cost effective to get a 2x54W ATI first now and get another 2x54W ATI later...or just jump straight into a MH. oh shit. I didn't know. about the being discussed thing. hmm. I know the advantage of a MH light...as in its a concentrated beam of light as compared to the spread radius of a T5. just wanted to know if multiplied by wattage, is it a same sort of comparisson to a MH. thanks anyway. yeah coz I'm intending to get the Dimfix retrofit first. then when urh...the tank is more mature and when I'm richer...I'll get a set of MH lights. maybe like those by Weipro. or something. or if I'm rich enough, Giesseman. hurhur!

just wondering does the power generated by 4x54W T5...is it equivilant to a 150W MH? it'll be lighting my 4ft by 2ft by 2.5ft (L/W/H)... and ps I hope I got this in the correct thread. =\

Gerald aka tank_maker on arofanatic.com he is a very nice guy and I'd almost bought my tank from him if I didn't find out that my old army friend/buddy actually is in the fish business and he does tank customisation as well. no offence to Gerald, but I'd go for my friend as he iss a friend of mine and if there's anything that goes wrong I can hunt him down and wring his neck dry. very nice guy. I never knew adding an air pump would reduce nitrite or nitrate. hmm. I'm sorry but this may sound a bit...like an attempt to bite your heels. if you did claim that you did read up, you wouldn't have listened to what the LFS people told you. if I were you, I'll try to get rid of all lifestock I'd have now by giving it away or asking someone to adopt it for me for the time being. then I'll put the sand in, be it one or two packets, then the liverocks in. wah you sure you want anemone when you're at the infancy stage of your tank? I doubt the FL lights you want is able to sustain the poor anemone somemore. dunno. thats in my humble opinion lah, which is not even worth five cents.

meaning that you used a few pieces of egg crates to make an inverted U? then you stack the rocks around and above the eggcrates? thereby you have an open column in the middle where the center of the inverted U is? example... __ | | | | | | imagine the center is hollow...so you put the two legs into the sand bed and then stack the rocks around and on top of it?
