I saw them selling it at Paradiz Reef for $30. not sure if other places have, coz I'm not the sort that goes LFS hunting.
-
adding all corals at once. isn't that detrimental to the health of corals?!
-
the last I check with SAF topo maps, no. but nevermind, we're not urh....location-ist! *spin off of racist and location.*
-
they look so good, I feel like eating them now. pardon me. just. longing for supper (=
-
goodie. yah let me know the weight. then I'll do my calculations. (=
-
nah I bought the Eido chiller 1.3hp with inbuilt Iwaki pump. I got a pretty good deal for it, which is why I invested in it. besides, I like the idea of a locally made product. got good service support. as for Reef Relief. sorry my pocket not deep enough siah. if I buy that, I think my mother will slaughter me. I can only imagine the conversation. "your own mother of 20 years, you don't even buy anything. a bunch of fish you don't even know for 20minutes, you buy air con for them. tsk tsk" shock shock horror horror shock shock horror!
-
I didn't say anything about the glare. but upon re-reading the thread I realised you said "don't ask me about the skimmer will be repositioning it" or something along those lines. oops! nice tank, nonetheless. considering the fact that you supposedly did it on a budget. I'm beginning to doubt the word budget nowadays. in this forum, even on a budget, it'll probably rank up to an astronimcal cost. *gulps* I wonder why I even got into this hobby in the first place. hehz its like sinking in quicksand. except I don't mind drowning in it.
-
okay I don't know if this will be a success. but hey, if I don't try, I wouldn't know would I? (= so here goes nothing... All north side people, please list down your urh. nick and location. so it'll be easier for people like me to ask for kakis to LFS sight seeing/borrowing money/put up at your place when ah long is knocking on my door/etc. here goes! 1) terryansimon (Bishan) 2) please support hor. then again I don't know if I'm going against the rules. so yeah. =x sorry if I am.
-
urh don't remind me. I'm already reeling from a big hole in my financial pocket caused by the purchase of a chiller.
-
even if I take, I wouldn't be taking the ones with corals. coz I'll be using it to cycle my new tank. and having corals in there at that point of time will be. well. not so ethical. do you have the total mass of the rocks? an exact number will be good, if not an estimation so I can do my budget allocation.
-
for you. yes. test kits for NH4/NO2/NO3 and pH will be a "good to have." I wouldn't say die die must have...but would you really want to live in the dark regarding the cycling period? for all you know, your tank may not even be ready and you just dump fishes/lifestock in. poor souls. so yeah. spend that little bit more, and give fishies a better lease of life. (=

you know Murphy's Law right? when shit can happen, it will happen. anyways, can't wait to get my tank. muahahaha. it'll be akan datang. should be by the end of this month, including ###### ups like financing and such. then I can HAO LIAN my tank! but I'll probably be so broke after purchasing the tank that it'll be rockless for a while. =(
-
no worries. I'm just being ###### anyway. (= if you can keep the rocks for close to a month, I wouldn't mind. hahahaha.
-
hey Fuel... ever thought of repositioning your Weipro? such a bulky thing blocking such a nice view.
-
does the ambipur make a lot of difference? hehz, I would think the stench from the decomposing market prawn inside the tank *if any* would have overpowered the weak ambipur gel. by the way, take care and don't let the darn thing drop into the tank. (=
-
I can only help you in terms of the skimmer and pump. skimmer. depends on the sump and height clearence. what do you want with your sump? you want it to be submerged in the sump? or outside the sump with a line out from the sump? (= if budget is the issue on your mind, get a Weipro. always get a skimmer that can skim to your tank capacity. and always cater for excess of +20gallons the least. *can be less, depending on you.* reason is its always better to have a bit of leeway than to walk on a tight rope. if you get what I mean. (= as for return pump. I know I'm biased in giving this recommendation. but get an Eheim. for what its worth, you'll get a pretty decent flow rate. since you're talking of 3000L/H, get a 1262 which returns at 3400L/H. (= Petmart is selling it for $215 if I'm not mistaken. prices may have changed, so don't come and kill me if you find out they've raised/decreased their price. I hope the above helped in one way or another. (=
-
stich or itch? stich = typo of stitch, which is a world of difference compared to itch. hehz anyways. just sidetrack a bit, how do you people handle corals then? I mean when you put it into your tank, to prevent yourself from getting stung...how do you go about it? gloves? plastic bag? dropping the rock and hoping it hits the spot?
-
alright. my fault for trying to highlight out to you nicely. sometimes I wonder why I even bother in the first place.
-
not wanting to be a real jackass.... but Paradiz Reef is charging $16/kg for Fiji rocks. I don't know much about sales and re-sale value, but I think if you want a more competitve sale/s, a lower price as compared to what I just said will be much better. just my five cents.
-
just put the thing into the sump, and et voila, you have an in sump Weipro! (=

the one thing I learnt about such meetups is that you cannot meet up for just one sole disccusion, aka just pure reef topic. the reason is that some people who are newer to the hobby *like me * may feel left out, not anyone's fault really. (= so back to the topic. maybe we can do what the Toyota Club Singapore does. weekly/monthly zonal outings. like what someone said...all the north side people will go out for a drink or two. I know it sounds far fetched, but I wouldn't mind organising one such thing....or what they call in TCS *short form for Toyota Club Singapore* a TCSS (talk ###### sing song* meetup. so yah. maybe I'd do just that for the north side people. but first let me get familiar with you people first. -
when I first heard of starphire, I thought its saphhire crystal aka what they use in the Rolex/Tag Heur watch faces. anyways. hmm. the only major difference is the absence of a coloured tint, correct?
-
is it me or did I see an ambipur jel thing sitting ontop of the tank?!

do we have meetups or some sorts? I mean take for example, Toyota Club Singapore has regular meetups between its members. and I notice it fosters a lot of good ties/friendships between the different people of the club. me included. but I think the problem here is that we don't have cars or we're not like a "drive there and meet up sort of club" I suppose. then again, correct me if I'm wrong. =\ yeah so I propose. meetups and more meetups between ourselves. I for one, am free as a bird as my final paper was today! and I'm going to be meeting up a lot of people as I'll need all the help I can get from SRC. hurhur. (= -
I wondering what is the significant difference in cost when you talk about this type of glass. (=
