-

Did I start my aquarium well in the first place ?
blondmyth replied to carolyc's topic in General Reefkeeping_
had to buy 4 cartons of distilled water from NTUC over two days as madpetz did not have stock for the DI 3 stage. not fun bringing home 48 bottles of water. finally my DI set up arrived yest. no more trips to NTUC for water from now on. -
hi all, my tank is a bare tank, with no ios and no sump. currently all equipment are hang on, using a HOB filter and BB Nac QQ which is also hang on. i intend to get a chiller and a FR. does this mean that i will have to put in two powerheads into my tank? big dilemma right now because putting two powerheads on the sandbed would look really really ugly. are there any powerheads that are hang on too? is there any way around this? thanks guys.

Nano skinmer not producing foam.
blondmyth replied to Marine_fanaticz's topic in Members Tank & Specs
those who used the dymax IQ skimmer all say to replace the wooden block with some wooden block from red sea instead. i too had the same problems as u, big bubbles being produced, returned the skimmer to the lfs, and bought a bubble magus nac qq instead. -
If my glass thickness is 6mm, nanomag would be a better choice?

Would like to hear more about the cleaning capabilities of these 2 magnets from current users
-
Any others using magfloat or nanomag?
-
thats interesting, i would actually expect the nanomag for its size to be able to reach the tough to reach places easily.
-
im deciding between the magfloat and the NanoMag by Two Little Fishies. Which has a stronger magnet and will do a better job to clean off algae more easily and effectively? especially those stubborn algae patches.. comments from current users? Cheers!

i agree, mantis shrimp should be classified as dangerous. and maybe not so often seen in the aquarium trade, but banded sea krait and box jellyfish.

Reef-safe Triggerfishes?

just one big fish, say the clown trigger, with other small fishes in a 30g, should be quite possible right? -
crystal pro ro/di vs ZeRO EX 4- RO/DI 4 Stages
blondmyth replied to inwear's topic in Product Reviews
yeah, have seen their web, seems like their media prices are cheaper than crystal pro's. have already placed an order with Madpetz for their DI 3 stage. -
reefers are certainly a totally different breed altogether. you dont often see people with such gracious behaviour over at the freshwater forums. appreciate the kind gesture, stay in the west, but i dont drive, so wont be fun lugging back a jelly can. as it is, im buying distilled water from my nearby ntuc. tank almost at the end of the cycling period, did a wc and added salt mix which was correct, but also added salt mix for the water that evaporated over the past few weeks. realised the mistake the next day. went back to ntuc to get more distilled water for wc to bring down the salinity. almost cleared out their entire stock within 2 days. 48 1.5litre bottles, lugging them back in a trolley is no joke, and im not exactly a small guy. have already placed an order with Madpetz for their DI 3 stage, hopefully no more trips to ntuc when it arrives in 2 weeks.

good to know it works. i must have been really unlucky to get a faulty piece then.

Reef-safe Triggerfishes?
blondmyth replied to moscowites's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
would a 30g tank be big enough for a clown trigger? -
bought one from c328, whenever the air pump was turned on, some air would leak from the bottom of this skimmer, and bubbles produced were huge, brought it back to them, luckily managed to get a refund from them. first skimmer and it turns out to be faulty? bought a bm nac qq instead and it works like a charm.

Leaning more towards the ZeRO DI 3 stage as it seems the cheaper option in the long run (Catridges are cheaper). appreciate all your views. cheers

crystal pro ro/di vs ZeRO EX 4- RO/DI 4 Stages

which unit is more economical in terms of media pricing? -
if the collection cup overflows it means that u need to adjust the water level. adjust the water level so that it just hits the bottom of the collection cup.
-
Already bought a DI system, but currently no stock. Just cycled my 30g tank, about 3 inches of water have already evaporated. Say I do a 20 per cent wc to reduce nitrate level, plus the additional water needed to make up for the loss through evaporation, wouldn't I need like 20 1.5 litre bottles of distilled water? Cost is one thing, but not easy carrying 20 bottles when u don't drive. Any advice anyone?
