  2. Ya. Not advisable unless you like to recap your NS recce experience.
  3. I am using the Ehiem cannister Professionall II 2026 for my 4ft tank. Can't use a sump due to space constraint. The tank is in the 2nd week of cycling and I will like to find out if the bio-rings and substrate that comes with the cannister should be changed to either coral sand or others. Any advise?

  11. I was there earlier. Spoke to Liew. Nice guys imho. As for the tanks, mostly empty and was told that next week new batch of live stock will be coming in. As for reb***, plenty of fishes and some accessory on the 2nd flr. Didn't play much attention to the fishes as I'll only start my cycling this weekend. Kind of susprise to see some many people already in the shop at that hr (ard 5.30pm). Cheers
  12. I posted a tread for advice on the LFS that is a must visit for new reefer and was highlighted this post. As I mention in the earlier my tread, as a new reefer below are the sections/questions I'll like to know on the LFS. 1) Doesn't give misleading advice 2) Have most Live Stock 3) HAve most marine accessories (price maybe too sensitive, IMO) 4) Best tank display (gd for newbie as reference) 5) Most easily accessible (including operational hrs) I also agree to a poll system but it will be difficult if we are not able to name the shops. But since a poll is like a survey, it might be possible? ????
  13. Thks panlee. There is something I am looking for. To answer regular question; 1) do you want someone who can give you good advise and doesn't try to pull a fast one from you? 2) or do you want to buy a particular kind of coral which only some LFS carry? 3) or perhaps you want the cheapest place to go to buy your LS or accessories? I believe most newbie will like to know all these 3 info. Maybe we should do an official poll (if its not against the rule in this forum). personally I'll like to know all these things abt those LFS in Singapore. 1) Doesn't give misleading advice 2) Have most Live Stock 3) HAve most marine accessories (price maybe too sensitive, IMO) 4) Best tank display (gd for newbie as reference) 5) Most easily accessible (including operational hrs) Cheers JC
  14. Please do not flame me if I ask this questions but here goes..... "Which are the LFS that are a must visit for a serious newbie reefer?" Cheers

  17. Some quote I got from saltwater.about.com. ========= There are many types of sand to choose from on the market, but sand of coral origin, such as coral sand, reef sand, crushed coral, or aragonite are best. One top choice of many expert aquarists is aragonite by CaribSea. Sand sources other than aragonite types will most likely have silicates in them, which is something you do not want in your aquarium. Silicates cause algae problems, and once introduced are next to impossible to remove. ================ It is true that other type of the sand other that aragonite will have this silicates that is impossible to remove? What type does you guys use?
