I also think its due to introduction of fishes. Every new intro will cause a new cycle thus result in the crash. Since its 2ft, problems will be very unforgiving.
Do u mean u release the shrimp after 5-10mins or add water every 5 - 10 mins?
For me, I leave the bag in tank for half hr than add water every 5-10 mins until bag has 3x its original amount. My shrimp had been happy in my tank. The whole process will take at least 1.5 hrs b4 shrimp is release into tank.
Btw, I have 2 skunk and 2 boxer.
Cheers
Since ur Sump is as big as ur main tank, it may be better to create dsb there instead? maybe up to 6"?
Many people dun recommend bio-ball so it really up to ur preference.
As for skimmer, i think combine capacity of ur tank and sump will be better if u hav 2014. You got to calculate the actual amount.
Just my 2 cents
For my boxer shrimp, it lost part of its spincer due to some fighting and it did "grow" back after molting. However, not sure if it will grow back for the whole arm. Just to share my experience.
I think our guru here need to know more on ur setup, Tank size, equipments, feeding habits, acclimisation, etc.
It's will be a gd lerning experience for all of us too.
Just you might have to try lower the nitrate to below 20ppm although I doubt that's the reason. Any expert can confirm?
Btw, are the two shrimp you get the small one? Maybe because of that need better control acclimitization.
I used to have high nitrate after cycling too. But manage to get it down to 12.5mg/l since. Was having problem trying to figure out which zone it falls in. Luckly, 12.5mg/l color is quite obviuos to me.
I had mine in the tank for 1/2 hr then add ard 1/6 of water in the bag from my tank until the bag has at least 3x the original amount. Heard that shrimp are sensitive to copper. Any chance that u have copper trace in your tank?
Hi Spider, how u manage to make ur tetra color chart so clear? If u compare the pic from chris, the color difference for the last 3 zone is not obvious. I'm using tetra for NO3 also and my chart is similar to Chris type.
Can advise. thks
