came across below in an article i read and to think i been using bottled garlic
"Using garlic for its antibiotic qualities, the food soaked in garlic should be given to the fish immediately. Do not delay, or wait while the food mixture soaks up the garlic.
Allicin is produced immediately upon mincing the garlic glove and quickly breaks down. That is why marketed bottled garlic is virtually useless and the hobbyist needs to use fresh garlic."
hi rockyboy
how useful is biohome in addition to having more live rocks? was told to place some in the sump too. which colour did you buy? think got 2 types.
i usually place a transparent plastic container (those with red cover use to store food during CNY) inside the tank with the fish fav food. once the fish goes in just cap it up with the red container and take it out. the intended fish might not go in initially. as monkey see monkey do, they will go in once they sense there is no danger in sight.
yeah you rite $$$ make the world go round but must know where to park the $$$ too i personally feel that customer service and after sales service is of ultimate importance. it make or break a brand.
hi bro welcome to reefing.
most importantly you need to ensure your tank thickness can withstand the pressure of the salt water. salt water create more pressure compared to fresh water tank.
its possible to keep fish only with live rocks without chiller but be quite hard to keep corals with chiller. unless the system is very matured with well balanced ecosystem and plenty of live rocks, i would say skimmer is the heart beat of marine tank and infact a must.
how much live rocks to use is up to you. good live rocks provides good bacteria to keep the system stable and provide the tank mates with hiding space.
this hobby requires money, time and commitment. i would strongly advise you to read up more in this forum and seek fellow experienced reefers advice as well. start right and you will enjoy the hobby for more than starting it on a wrong foot.
LOL. bro reddevils speaks from experience . maybe you can get a good 2nd hand set up unit in pasar malam, this way can plug and play- add live sand, live rocks, water, cycle and you ready to go :0)
IMO best to get someone in the family to take care or buddy up with fellow reefer to take care when you away. the filter might clog or skimmer goes haywire, chiller died etc.
