  1. 2 wrongs doesn't make a right.
  2. While I applaude the generosity of CedricAng, I feel we might cause some risk or form an imbalance in the local habitat. For years, certain corals only thrive in our waters is because of the environment. Certain species can cope with our local waters but those that can't perish. This is the way mother nature intend things to be. The fittest survive but because they were able to NATURALLY. To introduce a foreign species that did not go through what mother nature intend is not a good idea. Foreign species that got a 'leg up ' by our action might decimate certain coral population already existing in our local habitat. We could introduce new species but in the long term, some other species might be wiped out.
  3. Terryz, are you still using the ReefPearlz?
  4. Yellow wrasse will become a bully in the future and if you intend to add more wrasse, the new comer are at risk.
  5. Banning is good. It gives the population a chance to recover and increase their numbers as well as re-populate areas that were heavily harvested. Tonnes were collected but it is not known whether these tonnes survived but I can assure when tonnes are collected, tonnes are ended up dead in the trade, whether in the holding area, transit area, in the lfs or in the hands of the aquarist. So the banning of collection of fishes will be a beneficial one except that it is a death blow to the person plying the trade there.
  6. Fish might be 1 option that is available.
  7. Does the tryssogobius sp ever imported into our island? Anyone seen the blue eye goby around lately?
  8. The Par 38 is designed as a spot light so even 2 of these might not illuminate your tank. If you want to fully illuminate the entire tank, you need to look at Maxspect led lighting.
  9. That's a lot of tang for a 3ft, no skimmer at all?
  10. I agree although you were lucky. I have lost a few fish to my green wrasse, the most expensive was the mystery wrasse. It lasted less than a week. Currently collecting a few fairy wrasse though. The green wrasse and a Vlamingi tang was exchanged for a few fire fish at Iwarna. Auntie told me the 2 fish would be sent to the marine fair that was held a few month ago. You might have seen it then.
  11. It stop growing due to it's environment ie the tank size. The green and yellow wrasse when in juvenile stage perform an important job in the reef but when it gets large, it is turning into a reef bully. It will not tolerate any new wrasse in the tank.
  12. If that's the case, this fish is off my fish list. Thanks LemomLemon and Digiman!
  13. Using a Tunze Osmolator connected to a Kalkwasser reactor to do my auto top off at night with the use of a timer.
  14. How is the behaviour of the new species dottyback? Garang, neutral or shy?
  15. .....or get a large picture of clown fish hosting an anemone, it may trigger their hosting instinct.
  16. Don't worry about the 0.2 degree difference, it's normal. Seems you've managed to rectify the problem and it went better than expected!
  17. Do not place the external temperature sensor in the main tank as it will give some false reading. Best place for the sensor is in the 1st compartment in the sump. Hope this helps!
  18. Output from chiller flow should go directly to the main tank, not to the sump. Ideal is to have the chiller pump in the last compartment pumping water to the chiller and then to the display tank. Cold water returning to the sump after the chiller is an inefficient way to chill your tank water. Your main objective is to chill the water in the display tank, not in the sump where the equipment is. Hope this helps!
  19. Must try to see in person 1 day.
  20. From your signature, all components look fine especially the pump. Which compartment of the sump did you place the sensor? Should be in the 1st compartment.
  21. Best is to have your chiller modified to use with an external temperature sensor probe. With this modification, you are not relying on your pump spec to chill your tank. Your chiller is used or brand new?
