  1. For a 3x2x2ft tank, I would advise getting Resun CL650 iso CL450. Set up a friend of mine with this config, together with an external temperature probe.
  2. Yah man, they make it like you are the aborigine or dayaks that are breeding marine fish. These ang moh, when will they learned?
  3. It's better to have this stuff on hand if you want to rule out any discrepancy. Salinity is VERY important, if this basic parameter is not correct, it would also affect calcium and other parameter too! Reefers might get odd reading when measuring calcium and others and would try to change the level but the problem might not occur had they check their salinity 1st!
  4. Nevermind, found the link already. http://www.marinebreeder.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=208&t=3226
  5. Was going to post the link but JC was earlier than me. Congratz Junkai for being the 1st in Sg to breed this fish! Fourth person in the World! Great achievement, you put the country name in this hobby! Btw, how did they know you were breeding this fish and how was the interview done? I am always curious of this stuff, if you don't mind me asking.
  6. I am definitely going to save up to get that book.
  7. Should be ok but maybe you need to insulate the outlet hose of the chiller to retain the cold water temp.
  8. There is another thread about this topic too but this may suffice.
  9. This is the article. Read up the part under the heading "Commercial Refractometer Standards". http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-12/rhf/index.php Hope this helps!
  10. You must understand, in some places it is considered as food. If they know the price of this fish whilst it is still alive, they would sell it that way. Knowledge is power, without it..........
  11. There is an article about this in RC. That forum is doing the daily maintenence now, will post the article if I find it later.
  12. Petmart or Reef Depot should have. Other lfs I do not know.
  13. I think this section is for reviewing equipment.
  14. What's your parameter, equipment used? You need to tell us, nobody here can see your tank setup.
  15. No harm telling the lfs that you need to pack them for long haul travel.
  16. Yes, Aquarama! A friend of mine got some good deal there during Aquarama 2009. He saved a lot of dough compared to buying it outside ( lfs ).
  17. Apparently, the one from D&D are made for artificial salt water instead of for brine. You need to ask Reef Depot if they carry them as I presume they should, they are the distro for D&D product.
  18. Yeah man, quite an experience you got there, but it was avoidable in the 1st place though. Your documenting the electrifying experience would help to deter would be reefer in to placing such electrical outlet above the sump. As for your Deltec pump, be prepared to shell some bagful of dough. I had replaced my APF600 pump and it was costly. The old model Deltec are electrical hogging, inefficient design compared to the Super Reef Octopus XP series and the Bubble King SM and Mini series. These 2 would run around the old Deltec skimmer and still save you some money monthly. They do not require an additional feed pump and uses 1 pump instead of 3 to perform their duty. The days of using multiple pump to create bubbles are numbered. Your compressor chiller heat output is not that bad, I have 1 in my living room and the heat produced from the compressor chiller is lower compared to a Resun CL650. I was using the Resun CL650 previously and the heat it produced destroyed my father Coca-Cola collection! Some of the Coca-cola can just burst due to heat. Using the air-con compressor chiller presently, this problem hasn't occured anymore. The compressor chiller is only operating for 25 minute and rest for 2 1/2 hr. If it rain, it will take a longer rest time.
  19. Your fault lah. There might be some sand or even coraline algae stuck on the pad. Magnet cleaner do not scratch the glass by itself. Keep them away from children.
  20. If you're going with the one at RC in the NPS section, think you need air pump or was it the Tom's aqualifter pump to push out the food. But that person said the food will turn bad after 18hr and the amount is quite large, I do not know how many bottles of Fauna Marin Product you're going to use weekly. The troublesome part is to clean the food container. My suggestion is to pre mix those food and freeze them in ice cube tray. You could just dump these into an area where they will melt and release the food into the water column. Your phosphate and nitrate will rise though as documented on that thread at RC. Weekly water change is what that person recommended.
