  1. Reef Depot has the wall bracket for sale.
  2. Yellow and green wrasse are excellent reef cleaner fish but once established, they become bullies in the tank. New addition to the tank especially other wrasse are not safe if these wrasse are present. Choose wisely.
  3. Confirm too strong. You need to hang it higher.
  4. Don't use swing arm hydrometer but invest in a refractometer and calibrate it with Pinpoint Salinity Monitor 53.0 ms Calibration Fluid. With the use of this standardisation, you would have a true reading of your salinity level. The floating swingarm is not accurate. Later when you compare, you will have 2 different reading. Follow the calibrated refractometer reading. Get the correct basic equipment.
  5. You can remove a portion of the coral chip and replace it with sand. You really need to take your time doing this, like doing a portion a month at a time. What you are doing is removing some media that are currently filled with bacteria and such. Remove too much and the leftover population of beneficial bacteria are overwhelm and might not cope with elevated level of harmful toxic chemical. Anyway, where did you get the idea to use an undergravel filter?
  6. Saw a large fake live rock at GO. I've used 1 that looks like a platform for coral. Easily occupy an area of 2x2.
  7. What equipment do you use to get the salinity level?
  8. Check whether your freshwater tank can be used for marine. Might bulge if glass is thin.
  9. My wavemaker are high up too, just a few inches below the water surface. 3 anemone went to the same wavemaker due to the water current bringing them there.
  10. Good luck with your anemone. I literally had to do a complete rescape just to make sure my anemone stay where I want it to stay. After that, I place the fake live rock around it. During this period, there was minimal amount of coral in the tank. Took my time with the anemone, including acclimatising it to my Maxspect led lightset. When it stayed for 2 weeks, I started to add coral to the tank. Nowadays, the true percula hosting the anemone continue to spawn just behind the anemone. I've tried in total 3 anemone and all perish when they moved into the wavemaker. The 4th looks to be a success. Sorry for the long post. Hope this helps!
  11. Only happen after a top up? Have you check your salinity level? Fish can tolerate low salinity but not coral.
  12. Any chance for a package price for the coral?
  13. Who would use tap water for water change? All those chlorine and chloramine might wreak havoc on the beneficial bacteria population and cause die off. Do you filter the tap water through a ro/di filter media?
  14. That look great Ming69! More reefer should start using fake live rock for their tank. Ecologically friendly. Coupled with Biohome, they would have a perfect environment friendly aquascape that wouldn't harm the ecology where the live rock are harvested. The ocean needs our help!
  15. Glass scratching is the norm if you are not careful. But there is something else that you need to know about low iron glass in that the lower the iron content, the easier for it to get pitted.
  16. Get your chiller modified to use an external temperature sensor. With this modification, you are not limited by the pump flow rate. Place the external temperature at the 1st compartment where the water enter the sump.
  17. You might have to go with grade 1 sand and above. Grade 2 sand is slightly larger than grade 1 and so on and so forth.
  18. My 2 cents in regards to led. My own criteria for getting a led lightset was that it should be easy to replace component ie the led bulb itself. So far, Maxspect has been my choice solely for this purpose and the 2nd generation Maxspect was my choice. I have not seen any led lightset that has this feature beside Maxspect. Ease of replacing component is my main choice as in practical term, all parts will degrade or wear off. I do not want to carry the lightset to the lfs to repair it as it is a hassle for me as transportation is my achilles heel.
  19. Has anyone seen this for sale? http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1925966
  20. If the coral condition is deteriorating, how can you say the middle portion is fine? Are you seeing what you are looking at? Do a proper set up or just forget about it. You got to pay to play.
  21. Reef Depot and Petmart should have.
  22. No wonder.....another ' too many livestock to begin with ' scenario. Try to match the return pump flow rate to the skimmer pump flow rate.
  23. I beg to differ. It is better to use a reactor than a mesh bag, reason being, water always takes the easiest path to flow and if there's a something blocking it's path, in the form of mesh bag, it will flow in the path of least resistance. A reactor will force water into the carbon media thus filtering the water.
