Iwarna sell this? I've never seen it around, was only aware of their liquid additive, forgotten the name already. I've custom built a container able to hold 20L++ of each CA, KH and MG and already have dosing pump. How's the pricing for each bag of additives? Might give this a try in the future. Thanks!

As far as I know, some UPS might not be good to be used for our aquarium equipment due to the different electrical wavelength. If the UPS is designed for pc or server use, it's not to be used for our equipment. Learnt it here in SRC.

What brand of additives you're using? I am going with a similar setup.

Congratz!!! Me want too! But I wait till it grow a bit larger.

DSB or deep sea bed is not the answer to the problem. DSB will act as similar to your coral chip in that after it absorb all it can, sometimes it burp out back. What you need to do is to have something to consume the nitrate while you remove the coral chip.

How do we know if it's ORA mandarin? Some enterprising lfs might just say theirs are ORA mandarin. -
$135 above $100 right?

You cannot solve the problem with the same thinking when you create the problems in the 1st place. Nitrate are not like detritus that can settle down after a while. It had mixed into the water column when you add the new saltwater to your setup. Once mixed into the water column, it stay there as one of the parameter of the water column. What you need to do is to do another water change to dilute that nitrate solution to a lower level or use fresh carbon and change weekly in the hope that the nitrate is removed. Skimming will not remove nitrate.

I bought mine from Petmart. They will send to your place if your total purchase exceed $135. To raise that amount I usually bought a bucket plus some miscellaneous item. Can't carry the bucket due back problem.

Always prepare some towel to place on the floor when doing tank maintenance work. Use dry towel to wipe the floor and then follow up with several times of mopping with water. Use fan to dry the floor and if still sticky, repeat the mopping process.

The creature name you forgotten is axolotl. -
When you remove the water from the sump and you add back the new water, chances are you might have disturbed the sediment from the coral chip which release all the nutrient back into the water column. It might be due to the water flow when you replace the new mixed water that disturbed the coral chip. You need to find a way to add new mixed water into your sump without disturbing that area.

It doesn't work that way. You need to have water in the hose or tube that is connected to the pump for it to pull in water. It's an o-ring by the way.

Get 1 model up instead of the one you need. Reason being there are months where hot weather is the norm and when that happen, you do not want your chiller to be over-worked because it is under powered in the 1st place. And get 1 with an external temperature probe for a more accurate temperature reading. Chiller with internal temperature probe only cool the water in the chiller compartment so if the water in that compartment is cooler than the water in your tank, it will switch off earlier and then switch on back again after a few minute. Hope this helps!

Where can I custom a tank at a affordable price?
BFG replied to Joeteng's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
How much did you pay for your previous tank? It all depend on what type of glass, what type of wood used for the cabinet and what type of piping for your tank. My 422 cost 3k+ due to the above. -

Nope, not getting worked up, sometimes I see a certain pattern when such pictures appear on various forum. The people who posted such pictures has an agenda on their mind. Mis-information is their weapon. If really these animal activist are concern, they could go about it another way. The pictures would cause anger amongst reader who do not know what's going on behind the scene. Why would the activist go through all the trouble going to other country to impose their standard on others when back home the same thing is happening? Killer whale and dolphin being captured and put on show to entertain human. What normal folks do not know is that after the show, the killer whale and dolphin are suffering due to where they were housed in. Documentaries are made to show a side of the story, the person/team behind the camera. They made it, profit from it and move on. They left us feeling guilty. That's the purpose. If they really are what they say, they should have some form of discussion with the folks, to have some control of the numbers being killed for food. But they choose to rope in celebrity, who upon seeing such film and not knowing or try to understand the situation, goes head on against the rural folks who also do not understand why these foreigner are hampering their livelihood. Remember, there are 2 side to a story, similar to a coin. The documentary shows you what they want you to see but not what really needed to be shown. If you really want to care, start at home by not eating shark fin. I would like to see a shark fin free Singapore in the future. Hope this helps!

Pilot whale lah, not dolphin. They could be doing so because this fish is a food source for them? We cannot judge what food other people in other country eat as it is their custom but we can suggest that they control the number of killing so that the species do not become extinct. A picture paints a thousand words but it will be different story with different people looking at it. Don't just jump onto the animal rights bandwagon as they are telling a different story every time. We as regular folks do not know what's happening behind the picture, maybe this practise has been going on from a few decade back. Imagine yourself tucking in on a plate of fried chicken wing and some animal rights activist take out their camera and take picture of you eating the chicken wing with the flashes blinding you. They tell you directly in your face that it's wrong to eat the chicken wing. You were hungry before eating the chicken wing and the action of the activist irritate you. What would you do? There's so many of these pictures in the net that these activist took but there are better way to preserve the animal species than this.
