  1. I think there is... http://reefbuilders.com/2010/10/20/aquamaxx-cr1-nano-calcium-reactor/
  2. You're right. They're spot lights. The spread depends on the lens. Comparatively, even aquarium LED fixtures have a number of LEDs spread out over the panel for even coverage. These off the shelf LED bulbs are more white than blue, & are probably more suitable for growing chaeto in the sump. For those whose interested in DIY, you'd want to test out the bulb 1st for its intensity & coverage at the shop before buying. Plus you need to supplement it with T5 blue.
  3. Something like below pic. It's always in hiding & not easy to spot. If you have critters like that in your tank, the shrimps will always be under threat. Try to get rid of them 1st. Pic borrowed from Bongo Shrimp @ Reef Sanctuary
  4. If you want sexies, make sure there're no hitch hiker crabs or worms. Otherwise, sexies will MIA 1-by-1. For 3 years, I didn't know I've a worm until I put my sexies in.
  5. Leave your tank lights off. Give it another few more weeks to cycle. Then do water test. P.S. Show us a pic of your tank if possible.
  6. Aiyooo...1 ft cube no need to waste $ on skimmer lah. Just do WC regularly will do.
  7. I was only joking with you earlier. Hope you don't mind. I would cut it off & stick it higher up. It probably need more light to grow.
  8. Having interest in reefing, love the fishes & corals, want to cultivate a hobby, improving fengshui in one's home. These are all admirable reasons to setup an aquarium in a home. At the end of the day, you still need substantial moola to sustain it. As a general rule of thumb, the bigger your tank, the more expensive your equipment will be. Compared to a 28gal nano, your 130gal will use up salt & additives 4.5 times as fast. It's not uncommon to upgrade equipment & tank in this hobby because the LS we keep may require us to do so. Those equipment you eventually spend on & plan to sell at a later date, prepare to recover half or less of its original cost.(Some bros are offering to you free right?) 3 critical elements for a reef aquarium are water quality, light, & flow. With enough $, you can get top end equipment to achieve them & sustain it with monthly electrical bill. With optimum condition, your LS would generally be happy & flourish. Talking about LS, everyone have LS up lorry in their tank. It's disheartening, especially if you have to save up for a month to afford it. If you have a budget to spend on reefing, I urge you to not only think twice, think thrice!
  9. They're usually designed for PVC pipe fitting. You can prepare a short length of PVC pipe for it. After which, clamp your Eheim hose to the PVC pipe.
  10. It's called 1-way check valve. Below is one of the shops where you can find it. 1st thing 1st, your sump seriously needs sufficient capacity to cater to back flow volume during power outages, 'cause there's no guarantee how tightly a check valve can hold the back flow. (even a small piece of dirt can cause a leak when you needed it most.) http://www.reefdepot.sg/AddProduct.asp?ProdID=177
  11. Not worry your skimmer inlet suck in fishies meh?
  12. I'm sure both Aquarium Artist & Kwang Ling can install the overflow comb along with the tank. It depends who you want to give the business to.
  13. Bro, I think you will have better chance asking in fresh water forums like Arofanatics.
  14. the tank maker would install it for you if you tell what you want.
  15. Why don't you DIY one? Tell you what. If you can come up with a workable model, I'll pass you an air pump to go with it FOC. ok?
  16. C328 sells mini HOB canister filter which is suitable for this function.
  17. (1) I've come to appreciate the space necessary to carry out proper maintenance task on the sump. I did not cater for sufficient space to work on my out-sump return pump. Now I dread having to dismantle it for servicing. (2) One of my regular task is to reach into the refugium to flip over the chaeto. (The water flow is too weak to keep it tumbling.) But it was located at the left rear corner of my sump. So visibility & accessibility is not so ideal. Learning from my current experience, my next sump would definitely be better.
  18. Additional info. http://fengshui.about.com/od/faq/f/feng-shui-aquarium-bedroom.htm
  19. Are you sure? People usually don't deploy fish tank in bedroom.
  20. Just to share, below is what I went thru' for my sump. On hindsight, I'd probably would have designed it differently.
  21. Wahh...that's good lobang bro. But how much discount can we expect compared to normal glass type?
  22. Some more purple & pink would make it even more colourful.
