Hey Kenneth, I'm using the Resun SK-05 skimmer in my office 14" tank. It's not great, but value for money wise, I guess it's pretty good. Below is my initial review of the SK-05. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=64909 If my HOB power filter quits on me one of these days, I'm planning to get a bigger one. Something big enough to accomodate this SK05 so that the skimming is done within the power filter box. Probably further mod is required on the skimmer.

Not sure if it's my luck. The little REsun needlewheel pump that came with the skimmer tends to stop after a couple days of continuous use. I took it apart thinking it might be clogged dirt, but couldn't find much. Took it back to the shop but uncle claimed he sold all his current stock & couldn't provide me with a replacement. (Actually, I was hopping he might point out to me if its a common problem on this product, or show me some remedy that did not occur to a newbie like me.) Anyway, I brought it back to office & cleaned it some more, knock it about a few times(thinking something inside might have jammed). Fixed it back again. Crossed my fingers. IT WORKS! . . . . but just for another few days until it stops again. I'm beginning to think that I need to find a replacement for this 150l/hr needlewheel pump. But it's not readily available.

Manage to dig up this old tread & have a question regarding DI resin: When the DI unit is not in use, would one extent the lifespan of the resin by pouring out the water from the resin chamber? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question , but hope someone more knowledgeable can throw some light onto this.

Hi, If you're considering "Current USA Fission Nano-Skimmer", then maybe Resun SK-05 should be in your list too. Below is my simple review of it: http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=64909 IMHO, we probably need to equate their performance with price, local availability, and % real estate they take up in our main display tank. Every reefer has a slightly different scale for this, thus resulting in different purchase decision. Happy skimming . . .
