  1. Any existing overflow in tank with drilled holes for overflow to sump?
  2. Hi AhSiang, Try to get at least a 1500L/hr pump. If you have 4 family members to ferry everyday, Picanto very siong mah. . . Its 1.1L engine will say bye bye to you very soon. Other things to consider : - Your budget - How hot the pump runs (cooler the better) - wattage (lower means more efficient) - noise produced while running Off course Eheim is like a Mercedes, Aquabee maybe a BMW. But you don't see only these 2 makes on the road
  3. Hi, I managed to to customized both my hob filter & skimmer into a skilter. (see link below) If you don't mind the extra cost, I can make one for your nano too. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...c=73586&hl=
  4. I've got one with me from my 2011 which I'm not using. Just come by my place in the evening to pick it up.
  5. Thanks xiaochew, I'll check it out the next time I pop by Reefdepot. Cheers
  6. I'm using those green Eheim flexible hose. Can I fit a check valve on it too? BTW, what is the estimate price of a check valve?
  7. Sure, but wait till I get back to office on Monday.
  8. Hi xiaochew, Pump sucks no water when level falls too low. Then I'll have to use a siphon at the pump outlet to prime it (don't want to use my mouth ).
  9. My original HOB filter started leaking. So I found a replacement from LFS. I've also moded this filter & my original in-the-tank skimmer to become a skilter. I was able to : - fee up more space in the main tank - remove micro-bubbles in main tank - provide overflow with new filter - have stronger surface water flow - have both mechanical & chemical filtration combined in a neat cartridge that ease media replacement Welcome comments & suggestions for further improvement
  10. Hi bro, I've my 1250 return pump above the water level & have no problem. (See attached link) http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...rt=#entry755155
  11. I know what you mean. The building property folks sometimes shutdown the main aircon compressor over weekends. Tank temp reading hits 31C on Monday morning Find a way to monitor your office temperature during non-office hours over a few weeks. Then you can decide if a chiller is required.
  12. I'll put on hold my upgrade plan & hold on to my 2 footer FOWLR for the time being. ... and feed less so fishies don't grow too fast
  13. Sighz... What to do? If you want to reef in the little-red-dot, you have to pay. PAY AND PAY.
  14. Whenever my family buys prawn from the market, the head portion is cut-off & frozen as fish food. You can be surprise how much meat there is in the head.
  15. for the explanation. Think I understand better now. But we need a quick release design somewhere to make it easier to remove the screen for cleaning.
  16. Hi SantaMonica, Sorry, but what's the purpose of removing the algae form the screen? I thought the more algae there is, the faster will nitrate & phosphate be removed.
  17. If the critter is only 1/2", a small glass bottle would do. Should not take up too much space in your tank. Below is the link to my posting on this. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...rt=#entry758256 Good luck
  18. Connect an air-tube to the overflow at the collection cup. I use a 500ml plastic bottle to collect the excess skimmate. Below is the link to my SK-05 review. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=64909
  19. Hi Ahku, Below is my DIY crap trap. It may take a couple of days if crabbie is spooked during initial attempt to reach the bait. So a little patience is required. Glad to report that my tank is now crab free. Things you need: A glass medicine bottle (with opening big enough for the crab to enter), a piece of stone, a rubber band, and a small piece of bait(I use a small part of market prawn head) Step 1: Secure the bait to the stone with the rubber band. This need to be small enough to fit thru' the bottle opening. Step 2: Fill the bottle with tank water & slowly lower onto a predetermined spot on the LR or sand bed near to where your crab hides. Important: Bottle needs to be tilted so that crab cannot climb out after entering the bottle. Below is my rough sketch. Hope it helps.

  21. Take a look at how bro Ah-lim use a plastic tub in his 2nd chamber for DSB refugium (link below). http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...p;hl=tubberware Just have a bigger 2nd chamber in your IOS to accomodate a plastic tub. It's portable, & you don't have to worry about Mr Murphy anymore.
