  1. Hi All, I'm currently planning for a new sump & would like to know how folks in this community have theirs setup. My aim is not so much to get the darkest possible skimmate on the skimmer, but more to achieve the best possible water quality returning to the display tank with the limited sump design in the selection above. I have a feeling the sequence of placing skimmer & refugium may have some impact to the overall effect, and would like to tap on those who're more experienced & knowledgeable in this topic. All comments are welcome.
  2. Hi bro DUCADOS, I need to get myself a sump too. Maybe we can visit the Kalantan Lane shop together for a better bargain.
  3. Are you referring to the one called 'JANSJÖ'? JANSJÖ I saw it yesterday. It doesn't look very bright to me though.
  4. Hey bro, sorry to hear about that. Don't be discouraged. I'm sure things will get better. BTW, if you're interested in feng sui related to your fish tank, & how it might impact your family's well being, below is a link from bro CFOh.
  5. Thanks for the explanation. Very neat design you have there. I notice most folks have their return line(s) going back to main tank via overflow box. Yours is not. Can I ask what makes you do it this way?
  6. Hi bro, You probably forgot to ask when can I collect. I can confirm with you on collection. You have my number. Cheers.
  7. Would this kind of bulb be more suitable since it looks to be more narrow & longer in shape?
  8. So what's the most value-for-money LED setup available on the market for a 2 footer marine tank use? I'm interested too.
  9. Thanks for the offer, but do you know if it'll fit inlet nozzle of an AquaBee2000 pump?
  10. Emmm... sorry to say I haven't bought anything yet. Still in planning stage.
  11. Thanks bro. Can I find the type you recommend from hardware shop selling pvc pipes?
  12. This is getting interesting. The only type of "one-way stop valve" is more organic in nature. (see pic below) If the design from RD is similar, does the one-way flap provide a good seal so that water does not back flow into sump even after a few hours? If not, I'll still need to allow sufficient volume in sump for power outages.
  13. Really appreciate the details. I'm a noobie at plumbing & these info not only help avoid mistakes during actual setup, but also builds up my confidence that this is doable.
  14. Yes, I was thinking about adding a ball valve at the outlet, but never thought of adding one at the inlet. Hmm.. May need to recalculate the space for pump placement. Whether it's 2000l or 2000 I'll have to decide once my plan is more firmed up. Thanks for the advice. Would be great to know pipe measurement for both inlet & outlet end.
  15. Thanks bro LaW for the info. For (1), I Goggle for "tank connector" & found below pic. Is this right? Size wise, I plan to purchase AquaBee2000 pump for this project but not sure what size connector can fit nicely onto an AquaBee2000 pump inlet nozzle. Hoping some bros & sis on the forum who's familiar with this pump can advise me. For (2), I'll be happy as long as it dosen't leak. For (3), once I figure out the exact connector to use in item (1) above, I can probably get this problem solved too. For (4), ok, I shall make sure the connector to use in item (1) above can fit over an 8mm baffle.
  16. Thanks for your prompt reply. I'm planning for my next tank, so nothing solid yet. Below is the pic. With this, I'm hoping to run the pump out of water. (1) What's the red plumbing components called, & where can I find them for this pump? (2) Any glue required for assembly? (3) What size hole I should I drill to fit this? (4) What glass thickness should I get for the baffle?
