Somehow I feel that you may still need a protein skimmer once your bio load starts to increase. It's easier to get the setup right at the moment before putting in LS.
Bro, may I ask how big is your tank? 'cause tangs can grow quite big & need the swimming room. At full growth size, the 5 tangs alone will take up about 55" of total body length. This translates to a 7 footer tank that can barely accommodate them.
Went to Daiso at VivoCity after lunch today for a walk. Saw this plastic partition comb(2 per pack) that comes in various size.(from 5cm, 7cm, 9cm, to 12cm)
It's meant for creating partition in drawers & trays for storing small items. Being a reefer, it naturally look more like an overflow comb to me.
It's just a few dollars & should be suitable for those who like to construct their own tank or sump.
Cheers,
1st thing I would do is to dismantle & clean all the parts. Then try again.
You can also test it in a pail of water to see if the same issue persist.
Seek advise from LFS where you purchased from, especially if it's still under warranty.
If a 3-pin can solve the problem, shouldn't it be factory fitted in the 1st place? Sorry but I'm a little skeptical to this recommendation.
I feel that you should talk to qualified electricians who has experience with Hailea chillers for a 2nd or 3rd opinion. This way, you'll pretty much know what's wrong & how much it's going to cost to get it fixed.
It's not the water spray I'm worried about. But I guess it should be ok as long as the power strips are firmly attached to your cabinet. Eventually, the total number of plugs, cables & timers do exert substantial downward pressure on the mounting.
Grounding the chiller with 3-pin plug(assuming the chiller power cord includes the ground cable) dosen't mean the chiller is no longer leaking current.
