  1. Do you have any budget restriction on this tank of yours? You'll probably need a tank maker to visit your place to take measurement for cabinet, overflow, & sump construction.(provided the display tank condition is suitable for marine) Aquarium Artist is one of our forum sponsor who can do this for you. Call Vincent at 9695 9086. New equipment are not cheap, but you can get much better deal for 2nd hand ones in our Pasar Malam forum.
  2. Thanks for the info bro. So your needlewheel impeller is for AB type ? pump. (I'll try to get the right one next time.)
  3. Some relevant info: http://www.melevsreef.com/allmysumps.html
  4. Since I notice you have a blue hippo in your tank, below is an article regarding HLLE just in case you missed it.
  5. hi James, My current AB normal impeller comes with impeller shaft fused with the magnet & fins. It's different from the detachable shaft shown on your pic. I'm not sure if my AB pump is compatible with the impeller you have.
  6. Sis, your rock very man leh...so hairy. lol
  7. If space allow, it is good to add a fan to lower temperature during hot afternoons.
  8. Some more timer info from recent thread below.
  9. Nice SPS bro. Are you using Ca reactor?
  10. I came across a big HOB(actually should be called SOB sit-on-back)filter that may be of interest to you. It looks DIY, but done up quite nicely. Looks like a modified plastic trash can. The extra large filter compartment allows for mangrove , chaeto, & possibly a nano skimmer. Below is the link. http://cidlyled.en.alibaba.com/product/366754529-210448331/120W_Reef_Led_aquarium_panel_with_2_switches.html
  11. Hi fotoudavid, If you compare with those marine setup with sump & all the equipment within, a HOF with skimmer is considered a bare minimum. I'd like to add a refugium for chaeto or algae scrubber but is not able to due to physical constrain. Hence, have to resort to more frequent WC. My next office tank will definitely come with sump.
  12. I happen to have most success with hairy mushies.
  13. Firstly, marine requires 10x-20x of total volume circulation per hour. I'm afraid 300L/hr may not be enough. Let's say a typical 1.5ft tank has a volume of about 42L, thus would need a circulation of 420-840L/hr. You can do something like this too for protein skimmer. Below is the modified HOF with skimmer for my office nano. (The plastic bottle behind contains skimmate overflow from the skimmer cup) Let me know if you're interested & need more details.
  14. To reduce temperature, your sump return pump can be position out-sump. Below is how I place my previous IOS tank return pump to minimize heat.
  15. I'm going to remove my bag of carbon to see if my blue hippo recovers over time.
  16. Maybe can tell us what fishes, inverts, or corals you intend to keep?
  17. I got mine here. "Go kelantan lane. This shop name kwang ling framemaker. Uncle friendly, price reasonable (cheap) Workmanship good. (base on the price u paid)..." - Posted 25 December 2010 by DUCADOS
  18. The cooling is due to higher water evaporation rate. So you'll need to find an exhaust over your cabinet to extract the moist air. Otherwise it's not gonna work very well. Alternatively, if your sump provides a sufficient large water surface area, deploying a fan there with an additional exhaust fan will also work. You can test the concept by temporarily leaving your cabinet doors open to see if temperature reduction meets your need.
  19. Yeah, I recently installed a PC fan for my 2ft cube. Brought down temp by 3 degrees. Not so worry about hot afternoons now.
  20. I went to their branch at AnchorPoint over lunch. It's selling for $9.50 only.
  21. Looks like Home-Fix having sales on this item now. http://www.home-fix.com/highlight/highlight.aspx?id=394
  22. This is what I use to catch crabs. But since we don't know what's gonna turn up, you can try all kinds of trap.
  23. This design works for fish, but not sure if effective on crawlers.
