  1. Good looking nano bro. You don't really need the spray bar. Spray bars are more for fresh water setup.
  2. Check this out. http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/nitratecontrol/ss/sbsnitratereduction.htm
  3. 1. Brand new skimmer needs days or weeks to break in before there's a layer of slime coating in inner surface. 2. You tank has yet to mature. Avoid adding LS at the moment. 3. Same and (2) above. At adult size, clown fish would out grow your tank. So plan for tank upgrade or put up clown for adoption in the future. Lastly, your salinity seems a little low. Should be around 1.023. Don't use boiled water for top-up. Get bottled distilled water from NTUC if you don't have a DI/RO setup at home.
  4. No worries. What you described is good. It could be due to over feeding.
  5. Aiyooo....check out this super chio setup for mini tank use. A nice conversation piece whenever you have visitors. http://www.shine7.com/aquarium/chiller.htm
  6. If the whole assembly is not too heavy, it might be possible to redesign into a HOB chiller. Won't that be extra neat?
  7. If you're setting up with a clean slate, try to use a sump system rather than canister for your filtration needs. It's much more sustainable this way.
  8. I like it. I wonder how much does the whole setup cost.
  9. Even though the tank cabinet may be perfectly level brand new, being wood, the frame may start to warp over time as moisture sets in. Then the base glass will start to stress unevenly. In time, KAPOW!!!!!
  10. Hey bro, what boss said about "mature tank" could be very true. I remember my office mushies kept shrinking & melting until after 2nd year onward. Now they're growing like nobody's business with minimal maintenance.
  11. I had flamback before, but dosen't exibit the behaviour you described. However, my tomini tang did perform that swimming round the tank routine for few weeks at one stage. I ascribe it to adolescent hormones.
  12. Emmmm...any problem changing filter sock?

    WTT: Chaeto

Harvesting fist full of chaeto from my refugium. Would be happy to trade for a bottle of full cream Meiji milk. heh...heh Collection in the East. PM me for schedule & addreess if interested.
  14. but somehow your previous tank looked more colourful.
  15. Hey you've just revived this thread! No, I'm afraid what's left of the coraline algae would not come alive. It'll slowly break apart.
  16. Check valve can also be used for IOS setup. This will prevent flooding of skimmer compartment in the IOS. During power outage without the check valve, water level in skimmer compartment may rise beyond recommended level. This may cause skimmate cup to quickly overflow when power returns.
  17. The ATS looks neat. Pls. show us the algae on the screen as it grows yeh?
  18. Are the LR, chaeto & bio pellets insufficient to keeping your nitrate & PO4 in check?
  19. SM's thread has the measurement. You can take a look.
  20. No matter your main display is 36 or 40cm, you may need to give some thought to lighting placement. If you're going for T5, they come in only a few standard length. Hence the 2 stands on the T5 fixture may not rest at both edges of your customized tank. 2 things to consider: (1) How you plan to mount the lighting fixture? (A hood may come in handy in some circumstances.) (2) Do you want to light up the sump area as well? (Most people don't to avoid algae growing in there.)
  21. Have read its review some time ago. Not very positive.
