  1. I agree with this sequence. Then it should be: filter sock -> skimmer -> biohome* -> refugium for cheato or algae scrubber -> reactor -> return pump * I think coral chips & ceramic rings are redundant if you have sufficient biohome.
  2. Sorry typo error. should be: Main Display Tank dimension 4'6"L x 2'D x 2'H (customized design) PRICE REDUCED TO $150

  4. Darth Vader: "Give yourself to the Dark Side. It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your thoughts betray you. Your feelings for them are strong. Especially for... sister. So, you have a twin sister. Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the Dark Side... then perhaps she will... "
  5. If it's just FOWLR you're planning to keep, a fan over your tank would probably suffice. It's greener too.
  6. Both Eheim & Aquabee can run out-sump. If you plan to run in-sump, Rio pump can also be considered.
  7. I prefer bare bottom. It discourages worms from crawling about.
  8. A filter sock can trap a lot of detritus. But I don't understand the point of doing that. Might as well let the water flow from 1->2->3. I'd keep the plumbing as simple as possible to minimize chances of leakage. Yes. I've no experience on that to offer opinions.
  9. LOL, sounds serious. Better go see a doctor.
  10. I've a pipe cutter & drill if you don't mind bringing your material over to Katong.
  11. Some of your existing fishes may not be coral friendly. Better check them out first. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/aquarium-fish-supplies.cfm?c=15
  12. Hi Yeo, What motivated you to upgrade?
  13. Design 1 is definitely better than 2 because it's more space efficient & will cost less to build. If you want FR water after the skimmer compartment, simply place your FR pump in compartment 3 while leaving the FR in compartment 1 would do. Anyway, I don't see much difference since some of the water will definitely flow into compartment 3 without going thru' skimmer. My current sump is similar to yours. I found out that the 2nd drain pipe into refugium contributes to much detritus in my refugium & compartment 3. (I could put a sponge between 2 & 3 to keep 3 cleaner, but that would restrict pods from getting into main display.) So, a regular cleanup of compartment 2 is a hassle that I regretted. Worse still, the dirt affects the performance of my return pump over time. From hindsight, I would have done better by having only one drain pipe in compartment 1. Allow water from 1(partially skimmed) flow to 2, then from 2 flow to 3. My chaeto would probably grow as well, & the pods would have a great party in there too. Just my thoughts.
  14. You can take a look at below link wavebox demo. The return outlet & overflow do not look to be extra low to me. Anyway, you have the final say.
  15. For pic(1), there's no need for your return line to go up, then down before exiting into main tank. Just have a 90 degree elbow to exit into main tank to minimize head loss.(Example pic below). Because, either way, water will drain to mouth of return outlet when pump fails. Best way is to ensure your sump has extra capacity to handle the back flow volume. Above pic from thewire@www.nano-reef.com
  16. I saw Reef Octopus coming out with new model called the BH90. You can check it out.
  17. I think a Deltec APF600 may be within your budget.
  18. The metal rack cannot make it. Below is a calculator you can use. http://boonedocks.net/fishtank/ftweb.php
  19. Pls. also remember to cater for additional top up water on regular basis. I top up 4L every 3 days for my 2 ft cube.
  20. A 1200L/hr flow in a 30L display will give you 40X turn over rate. That would be a little too much. A 1250 would give you a more normal 10X turn over rate, and less if you include the chiller.
