  1. Sea urchin, sea cumumber , hermit crab are the best cleaners!
  2. Did the magnesium pro help you to maintain the mg level? I notice that although I follow the recommended dosage , my mg level is still low.
  3. I heard it help to clear the algae on the sps itself
  4. My personal experience on this fish is that it doesn't do a better job than a lage blenny. So far it doesn't nip on any of my Lps in the tank
  5. Please share with us how much did you top up for the unit to HYdra 52 ? So that we can all judge here if they cut throat you on the price anot ?
  6. Just got myself an idiot proof brineshrimp hatchery that will save me all the unnecessary work of doing DIY and the design of this equipment is really quite innovative. No need for air pumps and the likes...just good old seawater from your tank to the level idicated, pop in some eggs and let it stand for 36-48 hours and tada! You get live brineshrimps swimming to the center of the device because they are attracted by the light at the centre and all you need do is to harvest the shrimps. The egg cases are trapped by a device at the peripheral. Only costs about $35 and will last you a lifetime...bought it at the aquarium at Downtown East. Think the guy only has about 4-5 pieces left.
  7. Have just upgraded my air powered ORCA 45 skimmer to a JEBO one using a 1500 litre per hour powerhead to drive water into my skimmer and I must say, this skimmer is superb value for money. Never believed that skimmers have to cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars and was proven right... Bought it at Keong Seong at Havelock for only $38 for the skimmer...left only a few pieces...other places sell at cut throat prices....$55 to $65!! Like those stoopid marine shops and farms at Pasir Ris. Try it and you'll like it...can be hung on or in my case, I stuck it inside the tank because I have a hood.
  8. I seriously doubt if it would be worth the effort making such a contraption just to cool the marine tank. Imagine even if you did save some $$$ doing it, the thing now is how would you control the cooling of the water, it gets really quite complicated and on top of that, your tank will look really starnge with lots of stuff all around it. Not too aesthetic I guess. Why not just get a chiller and call it a day? The newer generation chillers use titanium coils and so heat exchange is very efficient and it doesn't really burn a hole in your pocket.
  9. Eido chillers using thermoelectric technology cannot work in our environment because our ambient temps are just too high. I can get Resun chillers for you guys if you are keen. Only $700 and it cools up to 300litre tanks all the way down to even 24 degrees if you like in about 2 hours initially. The best part about it is that it consumes very little power whilst cooling...only 180W max! Frankly, my power bill didn't change even after using it. For those with larger tanks...I can check up for you on the price. Let me know...
  10. Thanks for the interest but the canister filter has been sold. Thanks!
  11. I use phytoplex by Kent Marine and it works just fine...all my corals are happy and blooming!
  12. You can! I thought chillers were darn expensive till my friend sold me a brand new Resun for only $700! It consumes only 180W of power and believe you me, it didn't change my power bill by that much. Furthermore, it comes in only when temperature increases and so doesn't work continuously. You interested? I can get one for you.
  13. OIC, I work very close to there andknow the place quite well but I guess this place eluded me. Heh heh.
  14. Try Phytoplex from Kent Marine...good natural stuff! Brineshrimps, you must either hatch yourself or wait till the local aquariums carry them.
  15. You mean there is actually a coral farm there? How come never come across??
  16. I think the yellow types are prone to dying...mine didn't last too long either.
  17. Those are rock anemones. Generally harmless. Personally, I have a huge chendol type anemone with a purple base and it loves its perch on a rock where the return flow of water hits it full force. Both my clowns love it there. Feed it beef meat sometime and it eats it along with my tube anemone. I have another that looks pretty nice, small with a flourescent green core with red tentacles. A porcelain crab is living with it and the other sharing the chendol with my 2 clowns.
  18. Haha! I bought 2 from them and they only have 2 left! Better grab before they are gone. These green and blue ones are sure hard to come by. Hong Leong also has but more expensive. As for the Pasir Ris farm, I swear never to go there again...such a rip off! The woman quoted me $60 for the clam smaller than the one at LCK!! In any case, I know the guys at LCK...good friends...Tiny, Bac and Steve!
  19. Thanks! Any idea where I can find Kent Marine salt?
  20. It is actually called Reef Energiser and the bottle is similar to the LSB bottle. I have seen Reef Vital DNA but I would actually recommend that you try the Vital Combo. The reviews in TFH about this is really quite awesome. The nuisance algae I get is the brown film type on my tank walls but now hardly any grows anymore...must be something I have done right...heh heh. In any case, I never take calcium readings...I just dose a teaspoon of calcium daily from Kent Marine with 10ml of Coral Accel and 5ml of Liquid Gold Pro Plus.
  21. Have a used Fluval 204 going for only $50. Pls let me know if you are interested. Bought it at about $150 I think.
  22. Can get this for anyone interested for just $700 and it can cool tanks of up to 300litres. I am using one myself for my 3 foot tank and it sure saved me loads of cash from those $1400 types!
