True Percula pair for sale or trade
southpaw23 replied to southpaw23's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
Pair is currently reserved....will repost if interested buyer backs out.... And to answer your question....the reason for the sale is cos i currently have 5 clowns in the tank, 2 false and 3 true...so lookin to let go of the pair....when i bought the pair, i was told it was a mated pair but i can't say for certain as i've yet to see lil babies... -
Am more interested in a trade.... looking for either: 1. A pair of cleaner shrimps 2. A pair of fire/blood red shrimps 3. A pair of sally lightfoots As for the sale of the pair...looking at $26 for the pair...don't have pics on me at the time...will try and get it up sometime soon.... cheers,

Hi all, I've got a Hailea pump for sale...bought it for my 3.5 footer as a return pump and it's a lil too weak for the tank...the pump is pretty quiet tho.... Have been using it externally so it looks as good as new...and it's only been in operation for 3 weeks.. Retail price is around $90 or so if i remembered correctly...looking to sell it for $60 Collection will be in the east...near bedok area... cheers

Thanks for all the responses guys...i will try and raise my salinity gradually to 1.023 first and observe the skimmer for increased foaming. As for the KH...haven't checked the parameters in the tank yet but i doubt it could be way off cos as i mentioned before, the tank is only in it's cycling stage so nothing has been added to the tank etc.... Any other things i should look out for...thanks again

That's what i suspected...but wanted to make sure that it wasn't water quality issues..... thanks for the quick feedback...might try the prawn thing to see...

Oh and forgot to mention that I'm using a beckett skimmer (27") running off a Rio 20HF.... I've read some past post and found that there are many reasons for the skimmer to not foam...break in period, oily food etc....but what befuddles me is that i am collecting DOHC from the skimmer...it's just not spilling over into the collection cut but collecting all around my neck....where ever i put the water level to be....about 3-4 inches from the waterlevel a layer of gunk forms...but like i mentioned..doesn't seem to spill over.... And is it normal to adjust my waterlevel just 5-6 inches from the top of the neck (i have a long neck skimmer )??
-
Hi all, Funning thing happend to my skimmer a couple of days back....it stopped foaming...not completely but not much foam is being produced anymore...used to be i'd set the waterlevel in the skimmer at the base of the neck and it would foam to the top....now all the gunk gathers till like almost halfway up the neck but never reaches the top. I tried raising my waterlevel up to like the top of the neck...and i'm getting gunk at the top now but it doesn't seem like it's foaming effectively. I've checked some stuff out and from what i've gathered so far, foaming stops when a buffer of some sort is introduced into the water that changes the water tension or sumthin...i know i'm soundin ditzy but can't fully recall...either ways...i have add nothing to the tank and it's just currently cycling.... Any ideas on what else causes the ceasing of foaming? My salinity is on the low side at 1.021....but in my first week of breakin the skimmer in...it was foaming like mad...mainly cos i think there was a lot of die off from the rocks....but seems odd that the foaming levels have dropped so drastically..... I hope i'm making some sense here....help would be greatly appreciated.... Will try and take some pics to give ya'll a better idea but don't have a DC on me at the mo...... cheers....

Hey bro... May i know how u used your ocean current?...i've checked out the website etc but doesn't seem to provide much information and i wanted to find out if this unit can be incorporated into my return to the tank...but am unaware if it causes alot of head loss and if it's even doable?... It only states that it can be connected to a powerhead etc.....doesn't have a chart on headloss or speed of oscilation etc... Sorry for the twenty questions....but it would help in my decision making process and ultimately in your sale... cheers

Thanks for the response bro....after much deliberation and discussion, i think ur right...won't go with the tee off to the FR...but r u saying that i can actually look at running the OR6500 directly to the main tank? Won't that cause like a major sand storm in the tank?.....

Hi bro Rav65.. My tank spec is a 3.5x2x2....and was thinking that i could use a stronger return...right now...running on a 2800lph pump...and it seems weak. I know that 6500lph is a big jump but was thinking if i tee it off to run a FR and spilt the output to the main tank with possibly a SCWD (heard it causes quite a bit of headloss)....would the pump work on my tank? Would the increased back pressure from the SCWD be damaging to the pump? And if it does work...will my 1.25inch durso be able to handle the increase overflow to the sump?... Well...answer if you have the time....else no worries and best of luck on ur sale.

Wow...haven't followed up on the thread in a while...looks like my comment caused a whole lotta commotion on here... Listen, i apologise for the misunderstanding...and now that i relook at it...i guess my response may have come off as somewhat damaging to Neokn...but i honestly responded with the intentions of helpin out those that didnt end up winning the bid, by providing them a lead... Mind you, i did not try to imply that your zoos were expensive or that this sale was not legit etc....heck, i didn't even mention the price of the zoos selling in the other LFS....i merely stated that these places have them for those that might still be looking... Anyways...from the looks of how the other thread went...no use arguing or justifying my actions so again....many apologies for the inappropriate comment. No hard feelings i hope....

Return Pump Flow rate in a 120g (3.5ft) tank
southpaw23 replied to southpaw23's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Thanks for all the replies guys...kinda forgot about the thread when i didn't get replies earlier.... About the MD55....does anyone know what the flow rate is on it? And would anyone know if my overflow will be able to handle it? My overflow compartment currently is at 6x7" in space and has a 1.25 inch durso pipe for the drain to the sump. I was planning on Tee-ing off the return to run my FR and if the flow was still too strong in the main tank...i was thinkin of either tee-ing off the return again in the main tank to space out the flow or possibly look at incorporating a SCWD into the system...Oh and how much heat does this guy produce...i hear that it runs quite hot... Any thoughts and comments on this idea? Else, i was thinkin maybe just going with an MD40 for a the return. And if anyone has any other recommendations for return pumps that won't burn a hole in my pocket yet still reliable...i'm open to suggestions. I konw that the most common response is to have a very reliable pump therefore not sacrifice on the money and get at good one like an eheim but at 240ish...it's a lil on the high side....but still considering.... -
Hey buddy...i think u might have been mistaken about the bid...he doesnt have any eagle eyes for sale....only the red skirted ones in the first pic...the second one was just a reference from reefcentral. But not to spoil his sale or anything but i think i've seen these zoos sold in pasir ris and a couple of other LFS before....fyi for those that don't manage to win this bid.... Anyways...good luck with the bid....

Actually, the return pipe from the main tank to the sump only dips about 1-2 inches below the water level of the sump. I shortened the pipe before i started the system...Read that if it goes any deeper, it would case the water level in the overflow compartment to fluctuate due to the water pressure below...as it stands, having it at this level works fine...there's just a lil bubbling.... As for the power failure test....that's where the check valve comes in to cut off the siphon from the return pump to the main tank...the return pipe from the main tank will not drain water beyond the level of the durso which is about 3-4 inch from the main tank water level... Thanks for the heads up tho.... Any more things i should be worrying about or that i haven't taken into account? Comments are welcome to improve my setup.

And the look of the tank with the 14k 150watt MH on top...water was still a lil cloudy when i took the pic...will take a clearer pic over the weekend i guess...
-
Here's a look at the inside of the hood with the Hilux MH sitting in it...as u can see, it's a nice snug fit with abt a 1 inch clearance on each side..
-
Thanks bro...was lucky that he was so "chin chye" with me else i wouldn't have been able to incorporate all my design without a huge increase in the overall price of the tank set. As for the nano...yes...it's time is almost up tho...as i'll be moving the rocks and livestock into the bigger tank in a couple of weeks when the parameters have stabilized....
-
That's a scary story jem...just might get me to relook at my rock for lil pest...
-
Eh?....too lazy... The rocks are huge....mind you the 40kg of rock in the tank only consist of 4 pieces...one of em is probably close to 15kg....how? Well...maybe when i'm rescaping in two weeks time, i'll go try and rid some of the pest from the rock.....thanks for the warning....
-
Nah....didn't wanna kill the life in the rock with a dip so i just dumped the rock in the tank....but i'm sure that there are nuisance crabs in there somewhere...will live with it for now...and maybe try and catch some of em along the way. I wanted to preserve the biodiversity by not killing off too much with a dip....hope it doesn't come back and haunt me in the future...
-
Yes i did Jem....maybe not enough....think it was rinsed three or four times through....
-
nah...it was made by the tank maker as well...i just specified the dimensions and design...
