My new 6x2x2.5 'FOWLR + Fake coral' tank
southpaw23 replied to lkoivoon's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Hi lkoivoon, Sorry for the late reply....well, basically, most skimmers are built air tight (just realised that this applies to mainly becketts but with the exception of a few) but as a result, when connected to a waste collector, all the air travels to the waste collector cup. If u noticed, most WC have a ping pong ball at the top of the cup and the reason for this is that when the waste has filled the entire cup, it will raise the ping pong ball to the top and this covering the airhole. When air is restricted from escaping the WC, it indirectly restricts the flow of air entering the skimmer as well, thus stopping the bubbling effect within the skimmer and consequently stops skimming actitivites. This would also apply in the case of non air tight skimmers, as the WC fills up and the air passage for the WC is blocked, preventing anymore skimate from flowing down to the WC thus forcing the skimate to end up flowing back into the skimmer neck itself and chamber instead. hope i make some sense... ps. Great handy work by the way.... -
I would continue to ask but judging by your response and ur past responses in other thread....i don't think i'll bother wasting my time and energy... good day to you....

Err....that hardly would happen these days with waste collectors...it stops the skimmer from skimming when full...thus not causing an overflow.... -
Who's the hero-wannabes?....

My apologies weisoon...perhaps my response may have appeared to have offended you in someway. But simple logic would dictate that one doesnt sell a perfectly working piece of equipment at more than half the price without a catch....and i believe i have clearly stated what that catch might be...which is the fact that it doesn't come with a warranty card. And I believe i have also clearly stated that i am in no hurry to sell of the unit which confuses me when u bring up the statement about me being in a hurry to sell of the unit.... I've also stated how old the unit was....which is approximately 6 months...since purchase. Not pointing at anything...when i say to each their own, i mean, everyone is entitled to their opinions...if you're unhappy with the conditions of the sale. It's ok...no loss to you...or me.... Anyways....the chiller has already been reserved...thanks for all the interest shown.

Finally....one thread that has ended in a somewhat happy ending...that's how it should be i think... No worries bro, no offense taken on my end as well...and i wouldnt go so far as to say that i have grown very attached to SRC...but it has played a good role in my education and many others too i'm sure. Let's keep that spirit going as opposed to all the other negatives that already surround us in our everyday lives...the last thing one needs is more negativity online too... Now move your attention over to the other forum where they're nominating moderators...much more pleasant a topic to be focussing on i would think...

I think u failed to mention when the bid will end....that might help.. Anyways....$19 for me!

Though i agree with your points....let's face it...the admins and mods don't owe it to u or us for an explanation. I'm sure they have their reasons but perhaps given time, when everyone has cooled down...that reason might be revealed to us but let's stop pushing the subject and let things calm itself down first....there has just been too much heat in the forums these last two days... No hard feelings buddy...

What exactly is your beef with Acidjazz that u have to continue on your silly ramblings? Respect the moderators and administrators decision to delete the thread and move on with ur life already.....jeez! This whole drama has dragged on long enough...let the respective ppl deal with it accordingly...and enough with the "rubish" threads..... ps. Apologies for the outburst but again, very dissapointing to see ppl stoop to this level over an incident like this....

Weisoon...do u think i would be selling a 6 month old unit WITH the warranty card at this price?.... Hope u understand where i'm coming from....anyways...to each their own...like i mentioned before...i'm not desperate to sell the unit so if you're unhappy with the price or the condition of the sale...no worries, no obligation on purchasing the unit...but thanks for showing interest...

Hi Rocks....thats a valid question, which unfortunately, i don't have an answer to. If anyone else out there knows...it would be greatly appreciated...else, u could probably check out the net....I've done some looking but didn't get any useful information. Anyways...regardless of the numbers...the total power consumption of this chiller is definately less than most chillers in the market.

Hi all, Am considering upgrading my chiller due to the impending upgrade to 250watt MH. As of now, the chiller has been more than capable of handling my 3.5'x2'x22" tank and sump. The heat load includes a 150watt MH, 2x39watt T5-HO, Skimmer Pump (Rio 20HF @ 60watts) and Chiller Pump (Rio 14HF @ 40watts), Seio 820, Seio 1100, the return pump is external so no added heat source from there. It takes approximately 2 hours to chill the tank down by 1 degree celcius and consequently rest for almost 2 hours before kicking in again. Some might think that it's too long but bearing in mind that this chiller only consumes 75 watts of electricity. It is highly efficient and probably cost less to maintain than those Resuns. And of course the best part about this chiller is the noise factor...or should i say lack of noise...one of the most silent chillers around, i've had no qualms about putting it in the living room. Anyways, the chiller is barely half a year old and in perfect condition, unfortunately, i don't have the warranty card with me....but those interested are more than welcome to inspect the condition of the chiller. Looking at $450 for the unit. Brand new cost over $1000. Not looking to go any lower than the stated price as I am still in the midst of considering this upgrade and if i don't find a buyer, will be fine with keeping the unit and holding off on the MH upgrade. So feel free to drop me a PM if you're interested. cheers

Looks like i might have struck a note with my last post....but can't help but add one more word in...responsible reef keeping is not as you say, selling off livestock that won't thrive in your tank.....responsible reef keeping is not buying these livestock to begin with..if you know they won't thrive....it's doing research before buying a particular livestock to ensure that they will thrive. Anyways...ur surely to have some comeback for my statement so i won't try and continue this arguement. I have already clearly stated my intentions in my post and that was in reaction to your comments on livestock turnover. And for your info, up till the point of your reply to aquabeanz....i was quite interested in your shrimps and have been looking for a pair but after your response on the livestock parentage, and your response for me to "get lost", i think i'll pass on the shrimp too... Ps. I also think Aquabeanz is right, responsible reefkeeping should not only be limited to a single forum but throughout this site and i think i'm not off the topic should i decide to have brought it up in this thread...perhaps let the mods decide if it was inappropriate for me to have brought it up...if it was....i will be the first to apologize...good day and good luck with your sale....

That's not really very responsible reef keeping my friend...the fishes are living beings and should be treated with a lil more respect and not just some decorations that appease your eyes. Frankly, i'm a little shock with your statement about the high turnover and the fact that you "don't like to see the same fish for months". Again, to each their own but i believe this forum was set up to teach ppl on responsible reef keeping so i dont believe it's out of my bounds to speak up on this matter. In the month plus that you've been on this forum, u have been selling equipment and livestock left right and centre and it alarms me how often u buy new livestock only to let it go a week or so later....come on...turn over can't be that high can it?...and u mentioned not liking to see them in your tank for months but it appears that they are hardly in your tank for a week...let alone a few weeks. I hope the mods don't think i'm out to spoil a sale thread or anything...cos if you read into what i'm saying, you'll know that that is not my intention here...(heck in this case i might even be interested in the shrimps...but that is not the point of my post) Just a word of advice bro...go easy on the spending spree and spend more time picking the right livestock and caring for them to provide them a better enviroment in your tank. It really disturds me to see this careless behaviour of handling livestock like so called decorations.... Hope u don't take too much offense to this....but that's my....5 cents....

Daeil chiller, beckett skimmer, ozonizer FS.
southpaw23 replied to acidjazz's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
How old is the Daeil Chiller Paul?....is it still under warranty?...cheers... -
How big is the pair? they look small....might be interested...if they're bigger

Bro andylee....it appears that u seem to kena "chop" alot with ur livestock eh? Have noticed that many of your fish sales, u end up paying a bit more for it..maybe not just fish.... Perhaps u should be more weary when u buy stuff from the LFS. That would save u the trouble of losing money when buying at a higher price and eventually selling at a loss.. Anyways....that's my two cents...take a clearer pic of the trigger...curious to know if it's a niger trigger or another species. I assume that it is reef safe? How about invert safe? cheers,

Selling all corals in mixed reef tank
southpaw23 replied to Eric's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
Haha..that's funny Sotong.... Upz for Eric's sale..... -
I think u may have misread fish@sams post....firstly, the sponsors did post a thread on this in their own section....fish@sam was merely copying and pasting the sponsors original post to inform the others that may not have stumbled across this deal in the sponsors original thread. Why so quick to accuse someone of a commercial posting?

My new 6x2x2.5 'FOWLR + Fake coral' tank
southpaw23 replied to lkoivoon's topic in Members Tank & Specs
That is quite a smart idea to tee off your return directly to ur skimmer...saves u from using a separate pump...but my question is, how do u know how much flow to direct into the skimmer? I'm currently tee-ing off my chiller pump to run an FR as well and i'm wondering if i'm giving the FR enough flow...reason i ask is cos there really isn't a gauge on flowrate when using a tee off...so how will u know what's the most efficient flowrate for ur skimmer using this method? -
