  1. Thanks to those guys who passed me Ah Bengs number and info on the sohal tangs....got me a nice specimen from there yesterday evening. For those interested, there were actually quite a number of them left, my last count was about 12 sohals, small and medium sized ones....there's one that was a lil under 3 inches which was cute if anyone's lookin for small ones. There were also morish idols when i left, medium to large sized yellow tangs, couple of purple tangs etc....
  2. I think he plans to downgrade to a smaller tank too...depending on how small, he can go with the 1/10 hp unit, which is abt 75 watts....and it should do fine cooling down a 2ft cube or maybe a 3x1.5x1.5 tank. But i agree with Ekia tho...if ur gonna downgrade, downgrade the tank but keep the chiller, cos u'll probably loose a lot from selling it off... either way...good luck with ur sale...btw. U didn't mention how much ur looking to get for the chiller....any target price?....might help ur sale.
  3. Oops ur right....went back to check yesterday....my bad! either way...good chiller and a good buy
  4. Actually the DBC-200 should be 1/5 hp unit not 1/4hp. But also in saying that, i'm currently using the chiller and it does fine chilling my 3.5 footer. It's rated to chill up to 130 or 150 gallons if i'm not mistaken, depending on your overall configuration (total wattage from lighting and pumps etc). Must say it's a pretty darn good chiller for those interested in an energy efficient and silent chiller. upz for ur sale bro...
  5. Heard there was a shipment of Sohals at ah bengs over the weekend...does anyone know if there's still any left? Alternatively, does anyone have ah beng's contact number?
  6. No more yellow tangs at ah bengs? tot someone said there were lots....
  7. Good to hear bro...i guess i can understand how the attachment is like when u've kept a particular fish for so long.. I started out like you with a nano too...for a bout 2 years....this current 3.5footer is my first leap into the slightly bigger tanks...and it's been great....your fish choices are not so limited anymore....tho i must say the investment gets a lot higher....but still quite a joy to come home to ur tank and fishes Good luck with the eventual upgrade...i would give you advice on takin pictures but my camera skills suck as well so all the best buddy....
  8. That's why i've been takin it slow with the stocking.... As for the anemone....it's been well behaved actually, hasn't moved at all...i read before that they like to keep their foot hidden from the light and i got this rock, that it's currently attached to, that is perfect for it. it has a lil cave in the rock and i face it away from the light and so far it's been pretty happy...in fact, he has been on this same rock since i had him in my previous 2 footer.
  9. Notice that you've put your tang up for sale...and from the looks of it, u seem to be getting good responses on potential buyers....good for you! And hope u didn't take too much offense in my last post. All the best buddy..
  10. I don't think it's the better pictures you should worry about....it's the tang! Understandable that you've raised it from a lil fella till the size he is now but keeping it in this small a tank now that he's this big is just cruel buddy. Notice that most of the comments in ur tank thread has been about your tang and not your tank....so don't ignore what's apparent....but at the end of the day....i guess it's still ur call... good luck with it....
  11. Seems odd that your chiller would only run for 5-8 minutes...how many degrees does it chill in such a short period of time?....
  12. Anyone have any idea what kinda livestock is available over at the pasir ris farmway area? Ah Beng or Iwarna etc?.... Worth taking a cab down today?.....input would be great before this evening so that i can determine if i should drop by or save me the cab fare/ride.... cheers!
  13. LOL!....that was a funny one....sorry buddy...no plans to offload my babies as yet....the red prata has been with me for about a year and a half now...maybe more...i forget....and it's travelled all the way from KL to Singapore...so, it's been quite a treasure to me....
  14. Thanks for the info morish!dol...interesting facts....guess i'll need to read up more about them...but funny thing is...how do u explain my shrimp changing colors then? And mind you, the pair i have are not lil ones, they're pretty big....about an inch and a half or maybe more....not like the tiny ones they've had over in AM a couple of weeks back. If i understand correctly, they're almost at full adult size by now. A few other questions....if the shrimps arent pairs...are they still likely to get along? Cos i tried pairing two harlequins once and the two fought almost to the death until one retreated away with a lost claw. The ones i have now seem to have no aggression whatsoever between them.....and it's interesting to watch them hunt down the starfish...i know it sounds sadistic....but it's just the coordination of the two shrimps that facinates me...not the actual killing... Well...i guess i'll go do more reading up but regardless of whether they're a true pair or not...i guess i've no qualms as long as they get along..... Thanks again for all the info....
  15. Is it the 500ml or 1000ml version?...cheers...
  16. Interesting...but how sure are you about that? Don't mean to undermine your knowledge. But here's my experience with the shrimps. When i bought them, the pair was different in color, as in one had a bluish tint while the other had a red to pinkish tint. Someone once told me that their color changes based on the starfish you feed em...and to be honest, the first time i heard that...i thought it was borderlining BS...but funny enough....i've been feeding the shrimps red linkia starfishes and the one that was originally blue has started to change and show signs of red and isn't so blue as when i first bought it. Weird eh? I always thought that their coloration was associated with the place from which they were caught...now i'm not so sure anymore... But please feel free to enlighten me with more info, cos this is just based on my past few months experience with this particular pair. Oh and thanks for chippin in on the info.... Firestarz: Glad to see you like the rescape as much as i do...
  17. Yeah...i'd be quite interested to find out how you could tell as well. Either way, there is no aggresion between them and they seem to hunt together so i've no problems either way. But do tell....i'm interested to know how you derived that conclusion as well.... Oh and for the rest...thanks for the compliments....much happier with the new scape too...
  18. Last shot for the day...my pair of harlequin shrimps
  19. My RBTA which has almost doubled in size since going in the new tank..been with me for about 8 months now. Still cant get the camera to capture it's true color tho...it's much more red than in the picture...oh well...
  20. Another shot of the huge cave on the left of the tank...cool to watch the shrimps hang out and setup their cleaning stations...
