  1. CF?...unfortunately a lil far for me...cos i don't have wheels and live in the east area Thanks for the info tho....
  2. Hey buddy...unfortunately, they're not the Red Sea species but the regular ones...am looking for the Red Sea sailfins specifically....
  3. Dont sweat it buddy...in this hobby....we're all still learning.... As for your lobo losing its color, it could either be a result of water quality or that ur lighting may not be sufficient. How many watts are you having over the tank? U might wanna consider getting high output T5s instead of the regular T5s and i'm guessing there's only 2 tubes in the casing so the lighting may not be sufficient for the clam in the long run. hth....
  4. Hi all, Have been lookin high and low for a red sea sailfin specimen at the LFSes but still no luck so wondering if anyone's got one for sale. Preferably not too large in size. So any takers? cheers

  6. Anyone spotted any red sea sailfin tangs anyways? I've been lookin high and low for these buggers for the past month but still no luck
  7. I'm liking the new scaping. But perhaps a word of caution on your livestock choices. Firstly, in a 2 footer like urs (i'm guessing its a standard about 16 gallons), your major limitation is going to be in your livestock choices and number of fishes you can keep. U will see that most don't quite practice this and tend to overstock smaller nanos but it is in your best interest to limit your fish choices as well as their numbers as it'll directly assist/affect your water quality. Other concerns about nanos are also swimming spaces for fishes, i hate to sound like the tang police but basically tangs shouldnt be kept in your nano as they generally grow to be much larger than your aquarium can handle and also require much more swimming space than you can provide in a 2 footer. Some smaller angels do well in nanos but not the larger species. A single flame angel would do fine in your nano and would probably make a great addition to the tank, just be mindful that they have tendencies to nip at LPS corals...but it's a hit and miss, some dont face that problem while others do. Please don't get me wrong, am not trying to discourage you in anyway....i think you're doing a great job with the amount of preparation and planning you have put into your tank thus far. Just know that nanos have their joys as well as their limitations. Wisdom comes in knowing the difference between the two. Good luck with the setup...and keep the pictures rolling
  8. Tho i agree it's a funny question....perhaps to assist the newbie, an explanation might help as well. So FYI, a sump is a separate tank that is connected to the main tank (normally placed at the bottom of the main tank in the cabinet). It's main purpose is to: 1. Increase total water volume 2. House equipment (to ensure that the main tank is not cluttered with unsightly equipments all over) 3. Optional - to house a refugium. The purpose for which is to grow macro algae (plants) that assist in the nutrient export for the tank. hope that helps.... ps. Apologies to Good Chong as this is clearly but UPZ! for your sale
  9. 3 days and this gets knocked back 8 pages....wow! Upz!
  10. Hi all, Am looking to sell my 2 month old LCD monitor. The model details and review can be seen on this link. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/se...p?EdpNo=2188236 Looking at 400 for the unit. Brand new is around 480 sumthin i believe. Oh and the unit is in perfect condition, no dead pixels or scratches etc. Those interested can just sms at 9389 2291. cheers, Kenny
  11. Yeah...me too...i think the fun part is in the pursuit of getting an equipment and all the research that comes along with it...
  12. Since you're a fan of Aqua Medic....I've heard that Ocean Runner Pumps run pretty cool and quiet...u might want to look at those. As for the internal and external debate....not much more to add but do note that the main source of heat comes from the surface of the pump motor and is not in full contact with the water passing through the pump when set up externally. The internal setup causes maximum contact of water to the pump body which causes the heat to transfer directly to the water columns as opposed to the air in an external setup. HTH... ps. Good to see that you're doing more research before commiting to equipments to save you the trouble of buying and selling off equipment at a loss...good luck with the setup...
  13. Thanks for the response Tanga....i believe you're right...it is a lil more on the high side pricing wise and for the regular reefers, it doesn't make economical sense to get one....and if one were to consider spending that kinda money, would probably go with a trusted brand like Deltec, HnS etc.... But also in saying that, they do have their benefits. Its just a real chicken and egg situation for them i'm afraid, they need to establish their reputation and some credibility to entice potential buyers (mainly cos of the pricing similarities with more reputed brands) but at the same time, they need more movement of their products (more buyers) to establish this reputation. Either that or have ppl who've bought the skimmers post some reviews *ahem* so that we can atest to the performance of these skimmers. Perhaps if they were to come up with a smaller model in the sub 5 to 6 hundred range, they might get better responses. Dunno...just my personal opinion.
  14. 96 views and no ones got anything good to say about these skimmers....sounds fishy to me... How bout those of you who don't own the skimmer share your thoughts as well...might help get this thread going? Do ya'll feel that it's priced too high? And for the price, you'd rather go with a trusted brand like H&S or Deltecs?
  15. So no ones bought these skimmers? Find that hard to believe.....anyone?
  16. Hey guys... Was just wondering what's the verdict on X-reefs skimmers. They're currently sold over at Reborn and from the specs it seems pretty good with the line of needlewheel pumps used, tho i must admit the pricing is a lil on the high side for a local made product but i guess they have already mentioned that it's mainly attributed to the high quality needlewheel pumps used in their skimmers. Anyone has any experience with their skimmers? A review would be great to get a real life, first hand view on these skimmers' performance. Looking at it technically, with the same Aquabee pumps used on deltec skimmers but with a bigger reaction chamber, it would seem that they should be able to take on, possibly outperform a deltec, maybe? On top of all this, i like the idea that they've incorporated things that isn't currently present in deltecs, like the gatevalve (for more precise water level adjustments) and collection cup drains which seems like big plusses IMO. Again, all these are based on observations of what's been posted, and am quite surprised that no one has posted reviews on these skimmers till now. So, those who've got these babies runnin on their tanks, care to share a few words/opinions/reviews on these skimmers? It would be greatly appreciated cheers guys!
  17. Out of curiousity....why the sale of the wavebox? Change of plans for the new percula?... U seem to be buying lotsa new stuff and selling them off pretty prematurely....don't get me wrong, not intending to flame...but perhaps u could hold out on buying stuff till ur certain of ur plans...else u'll loose out on all this buying and selling. Either way...it's a great buy on a wavebox....i'd love to get my hands on it but not quite suitable for the current tank plans. So upz for ur sale. ps. No hard feelings eh?
  18. Perhaps to give us better insight, a few more questions for you if you don't mind. 1. Whats the length of time the chiller is at rest before kicking in again? 2. How is the current chiller configured (ie. where's the input and is the output direct to the main tank?) The reason i ask is cos i've noticed instances where ppl connect the input and output of their chillers all in the sump area and depending on the configuration in sump, the chiller run time may vary greatly. For example, when u run the input pump in the last compartment and feed the output to the first compartment or a compartment before the input, then the run time isn't fully representative or accurate as you will notice that the sump temp will be much lower than the main tank mainly cos you are recirculating the cool water in the sump area more than feeding it back to the main tank (seems to be a common mistake). The best way to test run time is have the chiller return water directly to the main tank. just my two cents.
  19. Don't worry bro...it is a BTA.....not all BTAs end up with bulb tips....some have elongated tips like the ones seen in your anemone. It is not certain what causes this but is believed to be associated to lighting i think...tho i could be wrong. Either way....upz for that nice specimen of yours!
  20. Might be interested...but where exactly is the pickup? Am at bedok....u anywhere close cos i don't have wheels?
  21. Any flamebacks left at reborn?...and how much are they going for normally?....
