The humming is basically from the pump, because of it high flow rate. It cannot be reduce much. By putting rubber hose before PVC pipe will reduce vibration noise. Do also check is your pump or pipe are touching any part of the tank or cabinet, if it does, this will generate noise If you really cannot stand the humming then replace your pump with 2 smaller one. Smaller produce less noise.

yup, u cant keep the anemone in the place u want, they will move around and stay on one spot for a while (maybe longer) and then move again. so just dont bother with it and let it move freely, if u keep shift it here and there, u will add stress to the anemone and die faster. just my 2 cents....

need help to ID this algea my new tank have been cycle for 2 weeks and recently I notice some part of the rock is greener and on closer look. it look like green hairy algae. I have added in 2 electric blue hermit and abalone and 2 snails. But they seem not able to do the jobs well. Tank is using the JBJ 28g with 2 return pumps and a K1 wavemaker, hence I am nto sure is the flow enough? any advise to remove this algae?? or I just leave it alone? thanks sorry for the lousy photos, as it taken using my iphone4

skimmer tunze 9002 micro bubbles
acidjc replied to acidjc's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
so the micro bubbles is caused by the low water level?? hmmm... but the the back of the tank (IOS), I can see that the water level is reaching the marking on the skimmer. (since the 28g JBJ tank back is see-thru), beside low water level, what else can be the cause? if I drill 2 small hole on the side of the skimmer, will it increase the water level since there is more water flow into the skimmer now? -
hi all I have setup a new 28gal JBJ nano tank yesterday and use my tunze 9002 in the middle compartment. And notice there is lots of micro bubbles coming out from the bottom of the tunze skimmer. This issue did not happen when I use the tunze 9002 in my old 24gal JBJ nano tank. I have checked and there is no crack or broken part in the skimmer, I even take out and replace all part correctly, washed and clean. But the micro bubbles still coming out from the bottom and being suck to the both side chamber where the return pumps are. really an eye score to see so much micro bubbles coming into the tank when the light is on. The tank is still newly setup and under going water cycle process now. can any advice me why the tunze 9002 skimmer is giving out micro bubbles in my 28g and not in my 24g tank? anyone encounter similar problem before can kindly help to advise how to resolve this issue. one thing I notice is that when I use my skimmer in the 24gal, it hold on to the chamber using the magnet, whereas now in my 28g I have remove the magnet and it now tight fit into the middle chamber. Hence the water inlet to the skimmer at the bottom should have been block by the chamber walls. will this cause the micro bubble issue??? should I drill a few small holes on the other sides of the skimmer to allow water to flow in better??? Thanks a millions

wow..nice SPS in a nano tank. I also trying out with SPS now in my 24g using 60W DIY light. now my lighting is on for 8hr per day. You think should I increase to 10hr then 12hr later?? -
there is still much to learn for SPS, I think that day will come only after a long long time. btw, all your SPS are settling down, all of them their small polyp are visible after 1hr in the tank. I love the lime green especially... tks

true true, the cost for builting my LED is more than S$200+++, and hence if you can, just get those recommended brand off the shelf, it proven and got warranty. DIY only if you are ready interested in hardware, electronic and stuff like that

Thank bro, I have notice that too, as my mushroom is not opening wide. think must be due to the high intensity of the light. I have shifted the light higher by about another 10cm. Will take note and observe the effect for the next weeks. I am planning to built another set of LED light using 3W LEDs. now saving money for next project. sound great and idea for my next LED project, I have saw many of these CPU or GPU heatsink and fans in SL. Thanks for all your comment and feedback, I will keep improving.

my first phototype LED lighting for marine. After so long of thinking and thinking to build a LED, finally I got some spare time during the end of last year. Since I work in the company that invlove in LED lighting, therefore I manage to convince my boss to let me "R&D" a LED lighting for marine. Tell him that if my design sucessful, the company will have 1 more product to sell.. anyhow, this is just a phototype. It still a way long to finalise the product for market and sell. *fingers crossed* OK, here my basic specification using 10x 10W LEDs, (5x cold white and 5x royal blue) designed to have 2 mode of operation (control by switches) : Mode 1 : 60W (4x RB and 2x CW) Mode 2 : 100W (6x RB and 4x CW) Current consumption @ 24VDC : Mode 1 (60W) : 2.5A Mode 2 (40W) : 3.4A Lux Level @ 30cm : Mode 1 (60W) : approx 1200Lux Mode 2 (40W) : approx 1900Lux Test run for 7hr per day at room temperature and with the 2 DC fans, the heat sink is just abit warm at the end of the operation. any guru can advise whether with the above power and lux level, it is good enough for SPS keeping? some photos for your comment and feedback The photo taken look more blueish taken from my iphone, but actual viewing it look ok to me. Closeup view of the phototype LED lighting Mode 1 : 60W ( 4 x RB and 2 x CW) Mode 2 : 100W ( 6 x RB and 4 x CW)
