jus got back from kwang, got meself 2 skunks at $7 each. just arrived many today, but i bought those old stock. no fireeshrimp thouhg
-
chris, wats your flow like. how wide u open the tap? i been using the prism for at least a mth already. i do get solid gunk on the funnel walls. but the skimmate still watery and brownish at best.
-
i made sure the are no bubbles in the water inlet tube before changing to the air intake plug. i have to set to pretty low flow in order not to let it overflow. furthermore, the skimmate is still kind of watery. just light brown color.

well, i do cringe sometimes when i hear the price. not really worth going there for me, as i stay rather far. anyway, i find that its a must for LFS owner to be knowledgable. its not an option. and to charge more jsu becos of the knowledge is pretty much hogwash i think

haha.. it think its worht a rat's ###### skims salt water most of the time flowrate alrady set to very low, nearly closed, still overflow

poly filter doesn really absorb no3 in sw tank. got this from the website: Poly-Filter® may sorb some nitrate (NO3-) ions in freshwater. In natural or synthetic seawater nitrate (NO3-) ions cannot be retained by any chemical filtration media due to sulfate ions leaching action. Anytime the sulfate ions exceed 40 mg/L this nitrate leaching back out of filter media is observed. Poly-Filter® sorbs many organic wastes that are converted into nitrates thereby lowering nitrate formation

thanks for the reply, guess no lfs brings in the remora. weird that a much raved skimmer like remora is not brought in, but the badly fared prizm gets on the shelves here. any idea abt the cpr bakpak?
-

i believe he meant 215 litres. got gallons and litres mixed up? so most likely a 4 footer

water level too low i only have a spare orca21 skimmer from the 2ft
-
i have roughly 40kg of rocks sitting in a 4ftx1.5 (no overflow), bare bottom, 1/3 filled and only a powerhead 1000lph at one end. question is, is it possible to cycle the rocks this way, with no filters and substrate. the ammonia is pretty high with the rocks jus sitting there. reason no filter is becos i will not be using any filters at all.

has anyone using the prizm skimmer tried 'helping' it by connecting an airpump to the air intake??? wat are the pros and cons?
-
can anyone provide the exact parts to diy mh lights? reading thru the forums still confuse me. hoping that all the parts thats need, and the cost/store can be included. whats the parts needed to hook up a 150w 10k/20k mh? and where to get them? also, is there a ballast that can be used for maybe rated 400w but can be used for 150 or 250w?

well, i jus found out part of the pipe system at home.. uses pvc pipes, while the rest are copper pipes now i wonder why the fire shrimp did a funky twisted dash round the tank and then took a long long rest.. hmm oh yes, that was months ago, b4 i started using the hagen nutrafin (not an advert, but it's the only thing i trust now). the coralband shrimp (added later) inside has molted few times alerady

actually, what is the items required for 2x150w 10000k mh? what kind of ballast? bulb etc? whats the total cost and where to get the parts in order to diy? is there such a ballast thats like PL where u can have 2x36w in a single unit. and also wat is ignitor.. hqi.. mv etc.. kind of confusing.. not straight forward like PL. thanks
