Every three or four months or so we see many redsea shipments. And almost every LFS in singapore bring in redsea shipment. They will send us all butterflies like mesoleucos, semilarvatus and larvatus, except for pauci. That's extremely annoying. But never mind, there are rarer fishes i'm looking for that never appear here, so pauci is just one of them.

The aussie supplier knows their stuff. All conspic hybrids to date if sent out of australia all went to Japan. Because they mark up the price and only Japan is willing to pay top money to secure the fish. So although it may be priced AUD 2500 to the australians, if it is shipped out of the country, due to competition from other asian markets, the price will go beyond my reach. Much like a WI butterfly in Japan costs 600 sing but once shipped out of Japan to singapore it will cost 2k sing.

It costs AUD 2500 in australia. Let's do a bit of maths. To secure and send the fish here, add on another AUD 1k. So in sing it'll be at least S$4500 if we are v lucky that no other countries want it. Likey not possible as if the aussie supplier intend to ship out, they'll raise the price even higher or open it up for bidding so that it is out of reach to most countries and in the end only the japanese is willing to pay or win the bid. The last conspic hybrid at 4" went to Japan selling at 8k USD or equivalently S$10K. So this tiny one expect to add a bit more reaching 12k sing or higher if they ever ship out of australia. So how can i afford it?? It is totally out of reach to me and i can only drool and dream.

I want this fish so badly!! It's so small and it'll be fantastic for my tank at tat size. Who can help me bring it in? Argh!

This is a fish that we never get. I've posted a youtube vid of a fairy wrasse tank with this quadrilineatus cleaner somewhere in this thread before. But i read this cleaner wrasse is like any other cleaner wrasse, almost impossible to keep alive long term. So in a way lucky that we are not seeing it in our redsea shipment. I also like asfur angels. But like u i'm also waiting for one with some special characteristics to show up! Mesoleucos is one of the most unique looking butterfly. But it loses shine when placed side by side the other rarer redsea endemic, the paucifasciatus butterfly.

Hmm can see your taste getting more expensive now, the cheap and common is not enough to satisfy. Not tat it's bad, in fact it's good as we lack reefers who are willing to pay for rare and expensive fishes compared to corals. But a gentle reminder to stock slowly, especially when it comes to such expensive livestocks.

U dun have to sell ALL of them! U can still keep some of them like the yellow assessor, argi angel etc. Unless u dun like them anymore.

Maybe one day i will visit Miyazaki and bring back a kamoharai. Not that difficult or impossible i feel. I WANT TO SEE THAT BOOK TOO. Ask CF to order. Then i can go there and browse. Hotumatua, feminus, litus and many others that we do not know of....

Beautiful fish! Reminds me of my old conspic. The conspic look super healthy and alert now. However i think it deserves a better tank setting with fewer fishes and clearer water. The scaping is awesome imo for a FOWLR tank. U jux short of solving the cloudy water problem. Good job and once u improve the water condition i'm sure the conspic will be happier and look even more gorgeous.

Having kept all three before. I would say Gem and Black tangs rank the same in terms of how much i like them. Being zebrasomas, they are both easy, hardy, grow smaller, less active and requires lesser swimming space. I kept gem once and black tang two times. If i want a tang i would go for either of these two again. AT i kept three times and i would not keep again if i ever want a tang. Only big AT has nice teardrop and small AT imo is not nice. However big AT requires a really huge tank to feel comfortable. They are sensitive and i only managed to keep it ick-free in a copper tank, which is the last time. They are hard to get feeding but are pretty easy after they start eating. Most of the time they die becos they succumb to ick. So i only recommend AT for those who are keeping fishes in FOWLR. Otherwise with a reef tank, better to go with zebrasoma family is easier. I've seen LCF's giant AT personally and i feel his AT will be even happier in a bigger home, like 5ft and above. He could and should settle with a slightly smaller AT.
