  1. Another black face emperor. Less dramatic compared to the previous one but still so cool! Damn, I wan this fish so badly!
  2. It's not v impressive imo. I would rather a pure tinker or pure burgessi. However nothing beats the true blood crowned tinker, the Flavocoronatus:
  3. The ones tat ORA has released is pearl-eye bicinctus and not clarkii i think.
  4. Can always take public transport wat. I always take public transport one. 925 will stop into the farm on sunday.
  5. That LFS was used as a holding facility where all the clarions caught by cortez marine are temporary held.
  6. Oh ya i forgot about golden angel, one of my favourite fish in the past. My last healthy small specimen is such a joy to watch. He's crytic but yet inquisitive, one of the most interesting and beautiful pgymy. U can dream!! It's not overly rare, just a bit unpopular. On liveaquaria costs less than USD300. On the jap websites they cost less than S$100 converted. It's relatively cheap compared to other popular butterflies like tinker, mitratus etc. Dun confuse it with the exceedingly rare R.Excelsa.
  7. Clarions are locally abundant. So hundreds are caught on every trip. If not for the limitations, clarion should be a marine staple and costs less than an africanus.
  8. That's the thing, no time. Big tank need big equipments and big water change, v laborous. I've long to keep a nano tank of deepwater concept and crytic fishes and some easier non photosynthetic corals. It's a tank i haven't try b4 and sounds v interesting.
  9. I dun know if i can downsize, cos the bigger fishes are v hard to sell. Your nano is one of those that influence me to wan to downsize to a nano tank, I like the clean look of your tank. But sad to know that u are facing a tank crash now. Fishes change colours and dying means the tank is in a v dire straits now. Being pessimistic u most likely hav to restart, nano need more time to stablize and are less forgiving to parameters swing.
  10. Almost all our LFSs can bring in Japan shipment. But the thing is no demand. They cant possibly ship in only one wrought iron and one of each of other few fishes. Note v worthwhile to ship in, too expensive. Furthermore i'm in the middle of trying to decom and downsize, so big fishes are currently out of my interest list. U kidding? S$600+ is a steal, i dun mind taking a gamble and try one if it can be gotten at tat price. Pls pm me the details can? Agree Japan got many interesting species, but most need cool water. The true B.Masudai is unobtainable, even for the japanese is a v rare fish to get. My personal wish list contains those cheaper Japan butterflies like R.Modestus and C.Nippon.
  11. Yes heard carmabi was brought in before, some time like 5 yrs ago. Personally din see it before though. L.Carmabi is considered a very hardy and easy basslet. It does prefer low temp but not low in terms of some of the cold water fishes brought in. Anything not exceeding 27 should be fine for it to adapt. L.Carmabi has enjoyed great success in captivity. It's a v hardy and staple expensive import in Japan and HK. As an avid arowana keeper before, i muz say arowana has also begin to lose its resale value in recent years. Esp big specimen, unless its a extremely gorgeous piece with perfect barbels and no defects like plj, dropeye etc, its v hard to sell. Fairy wrasses are easy to resell becos they're the more popular fishes both in terms of species and its price range. Same for angels, it's easy to resell a healthy feeding goldflake at 250 but it'll much be harder to resell a clarion at 3k. Anything over 500 is hard to resell esp if the fish is not popular species like angels, wrasses or tangs. We hav a better market for corals than fishes here. Imagine if the gem tang is as rare and costs as much as a black tang at 400, do u think it'll not have resale value! So in general all expensive fishes like carmabi, L.Klayi, interruptus, clarion, conspic, gem etc will have lower resale value becos local market for these fishes is rather small and that explains the reluctance of some LFSs to bring in such fishes. Hi Jacky, v nice nano tank u hav. May i know how big is your yellow tang and how it do in your 1.5 ft tank? Cos i'm thinking of downsizing to 2.5ft and keep a zebrasoma tang inside but worried the tank will be too small for it. Thank You.
  12. U wan? It's a readily available fish if u express interests. A few LFSs here wanted to bring in japan shipment but no one interested. Cos interruptus will be 2k and wrought iron is 1k+. I only interested in wrought iron cos it can overtime adapt to higher temp whereas interruptus harder. But sigh not enough responses so no progress. One of the L.Klayi got decompression problem? Sigh such a small delicate fish cant handle needle pinning so it may be a low chance of survival. Hope there's some DOA or not in good condition arrival cover.
  13. Maybe G. melatremus. But u mentioned gotten at $60 is quite impossible for this fish. G. melatremus is perhaps the most suitable for your tank if u can get hold of one as it's smallest, really small rarely exceeding 12 inches and is safe with most fishes tat we keep which is too big for it to swallow. I like moray eel but most jux grow big and will limit the variety of fishes in the tank.
  14. Collection of hotumatua may be happening soon. But bad news is hotumatua needs lower temperature like interruptus.
  15. Get a mulitcolor and keep it under strong metal halide and in no time it'll become like below:
  16. LCK no nets or credit card service. Only cash, from few dollars to few thousands dollars purchase all need cash.
  17. Agree, resplendent, interruptus and debelius are dreams, but they're realistic dreams. The unrealistic ones are C.Abei, C.Nahackyi, C.Hotumatua, C.Narcosis, C.Nigriocella, P.Boylei etc.
  18. Searched. I must say one of the most beautiful damsels as an adult plus doesn't grow big. If u ever see any, pls inform me too.
  19. This time should be a good buy, the fish has become rather common recently but beware of decompression maladies!
  20. Oh no so cute. Does it stay like this or will grow big and change colour?
  21. Hah can only vote for one! I've more than one favourite leh. Anyway my vote goes to joculator since it's the best dwarf i've personally kept. Holy grail like debelius and interruptus does not count cos only saw pic b4. Think like the wrasse thread, the winner will turn out to be flame angel..
  22. RB Caribbean shipment arriving Saturday morning. They will open from 2am onwards, all the way till Saturday 9pm. Bicolor Basslet - Lipogramma Klayi Mated pair Swissguard Bass - Liopropoma Rubre royal gramma redlip blenny saddled blenny spiney head blenny sailfin blenny french angel queen angel argi angel rock beauty king angel banded butterfly 4-eye butterfly blue reef chromis bicolor damsel beaugregory damsel jewel damsel purple damsel sunshine damsel neon goby - blue neon goby - golden red head goby yellowhead jawfish ABT ocean surgeonfish blue head wrasse arrowhead crab emerald crab peppermint shrimp flamingo tongue snail horse conch lettuce nudibranch green mushroom green "bubble" mushroom blue rics green rics orange rics gold/pink rics multicolor rics palythoa
  23. There are definitely a few successes, but there're jux far more failures that's all. Bandits are like achilles tangs, they're difficult but not impossible, furthermore their beauty will make reefers willing to try again and again. It's ok to continue importing them and success will v much depend on the luck of obtaining a well-handled specimen. I know of someone who failed 5 times before succeeding the 6th time on a 2.5" bandit. So it depends on whether u see it worth to take the risk. Talk about stop importing certain fishes, there are a lot more species from indo and aussie that should really not be imported becos they're practically impossible to keep alive.
  24. No, SL dun carry ORA shipment and ORA haven't produce blue assessors commercially, they only offer yellow ones at the moment. So i guess SL sell blue assessor cheaper ba. Hope this is not considered chit-chatting.
