  1. And now some awesome ultra-rare fishes from blueharbor (sooo envy the japanese): Kingii
  2. Some rare and hybrids from wayneoceanworld: Smithi Butterfly
  3. Yap most likely becos izuensis (also called candycane hog) is also found in the philippines, so that's why we may have got it cheap. But those caught in cebu and japan at great depth carry a heavy price tag. Nevertheless the fish is still deepwater and rare so the person who has bought the fish at less than 10 bucks should be proud of his possesion.
  4. 6) Bodianus Sanguineus (the holy grail of hogfish, endemic to Hawaii) photo source Waikiki, blueharbor:
  5. 5) Bodianus Neoopercularis (a very rare color variant of opercularis), photo source Aquafauna and blueharbor:
  6. 4) Bodianus Masudai (NorthernPacific, Japan, Taiwan, the real Masudai Hogfish), photo source Manhattanreef and blueharbor:
  7. 3) Bodianus izuensis (cebu, deepwater and v rare, high price tag of US$350), photo source liveaquaria and aquafauna:
  8. 2) Bodianus Oercularis (indo-pacific, note the black rim tail that contrast with sepiacaudus, brought in by Iwarna once known as peppermint hog), photo source reefsanctuary and wetwebmedia
  9. Let's look at some pics of this rare and often confused species, all generally called as peppermint hogfish(to date only iwarna has imported 2 of the species). Let's see in order of rarity, least rare first: 1) Bodianus sepiacaudus (Cebu, Marshall Island, source:liveaquaria, bring in by Iwarna twice named candycane wrasse)
  10. It depends on the type of anemone, bubbletip is the safest, while carpet anemone is the most aggressive. However if the fish is already dying, den it'll fall prey to any anemone. Anemone normally leave clownfish alone, as for other fishes, as long as they are healthy should be able to escape from most anemone (well except for carpet which is the most predatory hence most website will not recommend keeping it).
  11. this one an old photo from reefcentral, still unknown what hybrid it is, regal x ??
  12. side track too much, ok come back to the hybrid, a paler lemon hybrid again from liveaquaria:
  13. another pic of the super rare flavo butterfly (tinker's variant)
