OMG! Look at these hybrids and rare fishes!
Digiman replied to Digiman's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Dwarf Angels are more reef safe, and yes "more" means its not 100%. Occasionally there will be nippings but since they are small and less destructive, it should cause no serious damage to the corals. This is exactly what is happening in natural reef as well. -
Royal Pencil is a difficult wrasse, need 3 inches sandbed to burrow and it's shy and passive feeder, i use to keep one with small layer of sand, din survive pass 2 weeks. Flasher and fairy are easier wrasses as they feed readily and doesn't need sand plus they come in all shapes and fantastic colour combination. Exotic fairies are expensive. Go for fairies as they are more docile and can group many fairies together w no issue. Fairies are hardy fishes but of course they are susceptible to ich as well. Trust me, after you get your first fairy, you will be addicted to them!

Beautiful new wrasse.

Agree that it's a beatiful butterfly, but i hav to disagree on bringing in these butterflies to the trade as it tends to get too big. Larger butterflies are harder to feed and maintain long term in captivity, so its best to leave them in the ocean and this is also one the reason why this butterfly is not commonly seen unless they can obtain small ones large scale. Most of the butterflies we are seeing now are only the popular species that stay small or grow slowly.

These are new, remembering seeing these pics a year plus back, so by now should hav been named already, which means no longer new.

No, there are a couple home aquariums manage to keep Personatus. One shown below is taken from a japanese tank when he updated his tank on 18th Jan 2009.

For us, hmm we dont lose out, we have our replicas of tosanoide and fuscipinis readily available: they are the Sunburst and Borbonius!
-
Also on the same site for sale is the ultra rare holanthias fuscipinis at 498000yen = S$8300. Waikiki has one in display. Japanese are crazy to mark fishes at these price, no wonder all the good and rare stuff always go there first. Shown below is the fish on sale:

Tosanoides anthias has recently appeared in the trade (first time! and of course in japan.). I found the selling price posted online from a Japan LFS: 398000 yen = S$6600. Who will buy?? Somemore it requires v cool water.

Bladder infection, it'll slowly die off. Sorry, no cure for it.

Nice butterfly, and has wide distribution (that means cheap). But it's not imported because of its larger size, they are bigger butterflies. Can be found in bali shipment at rare occasion when they are able to catch small specimen.

cynasoma is not rare, it's quite frequent in bali and indo shipment so jux hav to keep a lookout for it. why not get the less common apogon limenus (australian red striped cardinals) at LCK. saw quite a number imported during the last aust shipment but sadly not many pple interested in cardinals so still hav leftovers. -

Interesting wrasse on LA: They call it Sailfin Wrasse, it's still undescribed, from malaysia. So near to us, maybe can find in our waters too.
