  1. Closer look at the $2400 anthias from carribbean, anyone know this fish apart from myself?.
  2. This is such an interesting thread.. I was knodding my head while reading through the posts. I always wonder why those keeping aquariums are more guys den gals. I pick up the hobby from my father (an avid freshwater tank hobbyist) and my mother is a typical female who has no interest in fishes/tanks but remains neutral to her son's and husband's obsessions. There is an old thread here i remember saying why there are more guys than girls keeping aquariums is because its a male's nature to dominate, control and conquer and they gain that satisfaction in keeping a fish tank. I dunno how true that is but i cant find strong reasons to disagree either. That one was an interesting thread also.
  3. Last. I was drooling when i was looking at all these pics and i'm sure SPS lover now mux be v envious of Thai reefers. For info, those largest pieces, like the big pink birdnest piece, cost US$150 each in Thailand, so we can do the conversion.. S$220.. Not bad.
  4. Some SPS pics from RC Chingchai's thread (Those w RC acct should take a look at his tank thread, it's amazing). These SPS are maricultured and are shipments in a Thailand LFS...
  5. Mux wait for shipment. Further its seasonal. Once there's shipment, most LFS like Ah Beng, CF, LCK, RB etc will all have it. M size specimen should be abt $60~$80 depends on LFS.
  6. Earth selling flamehawk, can check w him if still available: http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=82195 Lemon, thanks for the reply.
  7. Anyone know wat clownfish is at RD new aussie shipment apart from black occellaris? Thank You. Also got sms Iwarna yest got Bali fish and corals shipment, and RB has phili fish and bali soft coral shipment. So we can expect some updates over the weekends...
  8. I also run a MCE600, some more on a 5ft tank. But my bioload is always low and no or few corals, so i dun upgrade my skimmer. Your full list(already hav+adding) is definitely not overstocked. High bioload depends a lot on the type of fishes u keeping and your feeding regime. For example one large angel or tang will contribute much higher load den a school of chromis or cardinals. Anthias bioload is attributed to their requirement of frequent and heavy feedings. However Bartletts are an exception (can thrive on jux one or two feedings a day, i've tried), so your list is definitely safe and it'll still be acceptable if u intend to add in a few smaller fishes like small basslets or dwarf angels provided u practice good feeding regime (i.e. no overfeeding and use good quality food with low phosphate).
  9. Bartletts can be added all in at the same time, in fact this is wat is prefered. Borbonius will not bother bartlett at all. There's prob no need to remove the chromis as 3 bartletts more will not add on too much bioload either.
  10. Wa $50 for a ich free, feeding, healthy powder blue is v reasonable to me even if the fish is not from maldive but from bali. Wat's the use of being able to get the fish at $20 but u have to try 5 times to succeed (i personally tried 4 times long time ago and still gave up in the end!). All the best to your new AT (AT is the most beautiful but difficult tang). Upz.
  11. Fuel, I'm still quite confuse over allardi and chrysopterus. So the photos below is a pair of allardi right? And they will only resemble chryseptorus when they grow bigger, whereas chrysopterus start out with jux one color pattern (as in the black body-yellow fin-blue stripe pattern) from juvi to adult? Also may be interested to add a pair of clownfish. But prefer a pair of less aggressive and less active (in the sense of less likely to snatch food away from other fishes) clownfish. Those big size allardi's at the LCK are active and aggressive? Is true perc (interested in picasso) and latz considered aggressive?
  12. So is the yellow angel still at CF? Surprised if nobody is interested, i'll go down and get it. I've never like tangs because they are too active, need big tank, ick magnet, aggressive and feed poorly(my past achilles tangs always give me headache on beginning to feed). But this fish changed my opinions about tangs. It's the easist tang, eat pellet immediately after introduction into the tank, its not shy and not agressive towards any of the tank mates and has so much characters. But a pity the price is such a turn-off, if not it'll be the best and easiest tang to keep for everyone.
  13. Great site, but still confuse between allardi and chrysopterus. So those at LCK now are all allardi?
  14. Yes personatus is the most expensive, if not the second most expensive in the trade, after boylei. Look at this pair of Chaetodontoplus poliourus. It's a newly described (on 31/08/2009) angelfish. Range from Solomon Islands and Palau. Here a link to the Paper. It's published under NUS Raffles Bulletin. It's almost similar to the singapore angels, except for an obvious difference in tail colours. So next time when we see any singapore angels (Chaetodontoplus mesoleucus), before we turn away in disinterest, remember to check the tail thoroughly and if the tail is white... Grab it! and u've found yourself a gem!
  15. All the snooty wrasse pics on the net are ugly, the snooty wrasse at LCK looks v beautiful in person. U should get it. Thanks for the ride today.
  16. Jux to clarify the clownfishes are not chrysogaster but chrysopterus both white tail and yellow tail. Many many chrysopterus and all sizes from tiny to x-large, about 50 pieces was told, less than one blue note each. All of them has v nice bars with blue hue. A few big ones also have streamers tails, v interesting. Got one goldflake (not sure reserved or not) and many yellow tangs. Small Chrysurus angels with nice yellow tail. A few allardi clowns. Many african flamebacks. Two meyeri butterfly small size. Chocolate dip chromis etc. V nice yellow streak fairy wrasse with one alpha male (v gorgeous) in the group. Many leopard wrasses and different types, but i'm hopeless at leopard wrasse ID so cant name them. Also other common carribbean fishes and many others. The feeding show of the dragon moray was awesome. Large display tank w a jumbo queen and a school of JUMBO Achilles Tangs but will all be gone tmr. Many US zoos, assorted corals. Oh and steven if u see this thread, i found the name of the wrasse u ask me jux now, its called snooty wrasse(Cheilinus oxycephalus) from Africa, max size at 7 inches and considered reef compatible. Attach is a pic exactly similar to your specimen, very beautiful. For those interested in this fish, there's only one piece and i think (not v sure) is reserved liao.
  17. So u got the fish? Show pic leh, see if it's more evident of bicolor x heraldi.
  18. This fish is labelled a hybrid (or may jux be an aberrant) and priced $400. Can u see its difference from the ordinary lemonpeel.
