  1. A true hawaiian flame angel looks like this: The special flame angel tat came in is not a true hawaiian flame. It's jux a normal flame w a slightly thicker bars than usual, not v impressive. It was sold for a hundred. It looks something like below:
  2. Could be true hawaiian flame or maybe misbar or aberrant flame. Whichever it is it'll definitely be a beautiful fish.
  3. Ya u should think it over during your trip. Anyway the Tinker Pair should be around for some time until u're back to get it if u're still interested, cos the price is OMG!
  4. In the video u can see the typical behaviour of raops butterflies, that is they'll peck on every and anything in sight., and tat's why u never see them being kept in full blown reef even in softies dominated tank. They're more suitable for FOWLR. Seriously u may wan to consider prognathode or chelmon species instead. They're less destructive compared to raops.
  5. I always find your tank pics too blue, maybe only pic is blue but actual tank not blue i dunno. Maybe u can replace one ATI colour pro tube and make your coral colors stand out even more. Also if u're getting raops butterfly pls get a small specimen. The ones i kept b4 are quite boisterous and they can get destructive in a 3 ft tank. They require long horizontal swimming space to be able to swim and full speed and stay comfortable. Their itchy mouths are constantly pecking on anything and everything. Also they're v easy to feed but can get v aggressive during feeding and can be a shock to your peaceful wrasses dominated tank and that's my worries. My 2 cents.
  6. First one is the true japanese B.Masudai. Second one is B.Paraleucosticticus. B.Masudai is very rare and the very few caught all stayed in Japan and never shipped out. It's very rare in its own habitat and is not to be confused with the more readily available peppermint hogfish (B.Sepiacaudus) from Indonesia. B.Paraleucosticticus is a rare and deepwater medium size hogfish maxing out at 4inches that is very under appreciated. It ranges from PNG to New Caledonia. Very hardy fish and beautiful but is considered not reef-safe. Not to be confused with B.Leucosticticus which grow huge. Both are my dream hogfish. Below are more pics:
  7. Ok lemon and terryz, here's another two for u all, should be quite easy, maybe second one a bit more challenging:
  8. Deepwater coral beauty. Actually i cant really tell wat's the diff between deepwater and normal coral beauty?
  9. Bingo. Japan, C.mirationis deepwater and C.okamurai very very deepwater. Both require very low temp and is never collected for the trade. Okamurai is probably second only to Chromis Abyssus in terms of depth and rarity!
  10. For the id experts, you may wan to challenge yourself on the below two rare chromises:
  11. Collection of these fishes has begun and we should start to see it here v soon. Not a v impressive looking fish but for angelfish nuts it's one of the must have rare angels.
  12. Anthias and Wrasses lose their colours easily in captivity. Small tank, strong lights, poor diet, less than ideal water conditions and lack of a big harem are common reasons causing their colors to fade. Some fishes retain their colours better than others. Like Squarebacks and bimaculatus will lose it's vibrant red and pink in the shortest time while bartlett can hold it's colours pretty well even if kept alone. Wrasses being scott's fairy the hardest to maintain its colours. Most scotts will fade to a dull dark greenish blue. However cook island scotts are known to have a brighter colours and able to hold their colours better than australian ones. So it depends on geographical collection as well. Some of the most colourful wrasses and anthias are found in public aquariums or in very big tanks which most of us are not able to maintain.
  13. Oh no tat's so fake! I mean which guy (or "girl") will walk around with his penis exposed to the public!?
  14. Thanks for the link, i like the song very much but still find bad romance the best. I've always find Lady GaGa's mv very titillating and daring in exposing her sexual fantasy which reminds me a lot of Madonna. Anyway i'm leaning more towards the gaga supporting side. P.S. Beyonce is great too! Halo!
  15. Impossible. Their range dun overlap. I think butterflies are quite hard to breed in captivity. Never heard of CB butterfly species. But RCT are working on some butterfly species maybe soon.. No la should rephrase. Think most pple can afford but it's more of not willing to spend so much on mccullochi. Apart from being difficult to keep alive in our hot weather, it's also not v nice and does not appeal to me more than a latezonatus. But since most countries have already imported this currently rarest clownfish, it should rightfully be our turn next to see this fish. Clipperton's price will also not be skyhigh, if not steven would not be so willing to bring in for sure. Maybe the first batch will be out of reach to many but subsequent batches should expect a drastic drop like clarion. The 3 C's, Conspic, Clarion and Clipperton in one same tank will be a sight to behold.
  16. It's amazing how u can keep a flamboyant cuttlefish in your main tank with so many small fishes together! Did the smaller fishes not become food to the cuttle?
  17. i'll pm u with regards to the price. Raops are the more reef-safe butterflies but they'll still disturb fleshy corals like pratas and open brains from my experience. They got v itchy mouths. around 27 degree should be fine. beware of newly arrived specimen as they are prone to flukes, and white spots esp in increased temp in our tank, esp when we dun QT our fishes.
  18. Raops butterflies are one of my favourites, second only to the prognathodes. I've kept declives and tinkers b4. Both are equally beautiful although Tinker almost double declives in price! They're boisterous, hardy and v greedy. Do watch out on high temp though, my tinker showed increase breathing when temp exceed 28 degree. Mitratus is beautiful too and i remember the days when they cost around 100, now they cost around 200 i think. Almost double in price!
  19. Normally confinement in a small environment will stress and shorten the lifespan of the fish so we'll not get to see it grow to its maximum possible size in the wild.
  20. Aren;t u afraid it'll eat your gobies as it grow bigger? I tot u'll be getting a declives butterfly?
  21. Those burgessi x Tinkers hybrids more likely can get as they come from Marshall Islands. Flavocoronatus is more collected from Guam at deepwater and with Japan as a blackhole for rare fishes, it's less likely to appear here. However not totally impossible as Flavocoronatus is not endemic to Guam, it has range extending to Marshalls as well but are jux exceedingly rare and found even deeper water. Recent two years has emerged a plethora of rare fishes brought in by our LFS. Wat else are we waiting for that are not yet being seen here? Personally for me will be mccullochi clownfish and clipperton angel although both i probably wont be able to afford!
  22. Rusty x Coral, lemonpeel hybrid, Flame x Potter, Flame x Rusty. All these in one tank will make an impressive display.
