  1. Sorry I think hav to burst our bubble, it's not a tinker x miliaris but quadrimaculatus x miliaris. Another piece has somewat appeared again in japan and they labelled it as quadrimaculatus x miliaris and make reference back to the old fish. How i wish it's a tinker miliaris, quadri miliaris jux doesn't sound as fantastic. Nevertheless still v beautiful and i wan one! The hybrid quadrimaculatus x miliaris again:
  2. Yes it's so interesting, and so rare and so beautiful. One of the most successful hybridization. One more thing to aim for from Hawaii. Thanks for sharing the info. The fish is too tiny liao, tat's why always want a nano setup for this cute fishes. In our big tank it's impossible to keep them.
  3. Lemon and Terry, how are your blue-eyed goby? They remind me of the rare carribbean sabre goby, only tat blue eye is $6 each while sabre goby more than $2000 each.
  4. Yes it's an unknown hybrid, and a v nice one. But think it died already. The tank has a plethora of other rare fishes, like aurora anthias, big group of ventralis, golden hamlet, debelius angel etc.
  5. The female is nice too, pure white (with a light tinge of blue) with minimal black markings put the bandit to shame. Below are two pics of a female in the japanese tank. Second pic shows it side by side with a v rare butterfly.
  6. I jux cant have enough of all these videos: How i wish i hav the guts to tear down my tank now and modify it into a deep low temp setting and tell steven: "Bring it in for me!"
  7. My god, this is beautiful. Along the coast?? Tat means not deepwater, next time mux watch out for indo shipment!
  8. There are now four species i think, albofascaitus, triocellata, nigropinnata and tanakai.
  9. Yes, will consider selling them. Yes pls stop me, got too many nonsense fishes recently!
  10. As u said, cute and lovely fish but mine is still quite shy. Barely showing itself and i've to search w some effort before able to find it in my 5ft. The P.Hanae is hiding too much, feel like selling the fish, dun like hiding fish! The lemonpeel hybrid is nice but now i regret getting it cos it can be quite aggressive and if i add it to my tank now future hard to add more dwarf and hav to say goodbye to my rusty flame. So may sell it too. Rhomboid also feeding well but still quite thin. Still dun like the fish so much so may also wan to sell. Multilineatum has jux been transferred from QT back to sump, still contemplating whether to sell cos mine also quite shy.
  11. Yes all blue is always mesmerizing, like this one: and this one:
  12. I like smithi also, but it lacks the deepwater rarity factor of flavo. P.basabei, P.guyanensis, R.excelsa are all more holy grail den smithi if u ask me, but it's not fair becos i'm always bias towards deepwater fishes, i jux hav a thing for them. Anyway one Japan website stated the dusky heraldi as aberrations and not hybrid. Surprise there's so little discussions of the fish on the net. Maybe it's really ugly and not many interested. Anyway still trying to get over my deepwater coral beauty:
  13. Too bad no more collection is gg to happen at easter island anytime soon. Your hotumatua is gg to wait longer. Maybe yes but not at the collection part of easter. Long long ago when there is collection at easter, hotumatua and litus are collected and shipped thru hawaii shipment. Smithi was never collected at easter, and also never was really collected except for one collection trip. Btw smithi is not the holy grail of butterflyfish la. Never heard of the term holy grail for chaetodon species, but if u ask me, my vote goes to C.Flavocoronatus.
  14. Is it? I only know the collection at Easter Island did not go thru, but the fish itself, C.Litus that is, is not protected
  15. Oh tat doesn't mean it is endangered. It jux mean the species is very vulnerable because of the small habitat that the whole population is found in. Jux like resplendent angel also listed there because it is restricted to the small area in Ascension island and if anything happen there like chemical spill or something it'll wipe out the entire population and cause extinction. But they're not endangered yet, they are abundant in their habitat.
  16. Is it?? It's reported abundant at shallow depth at Easter Islands.
  17. Haha move over to the redsea we have the blatteus fairy wrasse and taeniatus anthias. And coming back to our SEA waters, indonesia, we have the extremely deep water abei angel. If we look over to west australia, there're another dozen of fishes tat we cant obtain.
  18. Maybe. But the rob diver is so confident tat he's gg to catch tat many personatus. Wat if he ends up with zero catch, cos so many things can happen, he's not 100% sure the group of juveniles will stay at the same spot cos they may still shift upwards to the cooler north or deeper into water, the angels may be v hard to catch and he may not even end up w one. No matter wat, hope for all the best in his collection next week. Too many disappointments this year, first is the failure of the mauritius debelius angels collection, then the easter island hotumatua angels collection, hope next will not be deepwater hawaii personatus collection!
  19. Hah? Like tat also need to separate into a subspecies! GBD did not post the exact location so other divers prob still dunno where is it. To spot a group of jueniles is like a goldmine being discovered. Hope this group of personatus found is not a one-off incident and we can eventually see regular catch of personatus from that location. Interesting to know if LCK's Hawaii supplier happen to know of the location tat's why they're able to get personatus as well?
  20. last qn, easy to keep as in photosynthetic or mux feed?
  21. Thanks, so many yes's and last one no = mux get. Where can i find these now? ML?
  22. Dr Tanaka has a smithi now? Tat's pretty cool, tot he's a wrasse only kind of guy..
  23. Are these in your tank?? They will stay at the original position? Dun need sand bed right? Thinking of getting one, v fed up w my RBTA, it keep moving here and there and hide under the cliff, cant see at all. Are these ex and will they eat fishes?
  24. The first piece is a female, not a changing male. Female personatus has yellow pelvic fins btw. This piece i remember is caught a female and sold v quickly at an undisclosed price in Japan. The second piece is caught a male and is morphing back to female. This piece is v well known as it's the same super stud male the one tat Copps is holding when it's caught, but after a few months in captivity it's slowly morphing back to female but interestingly it remains half male half female as shown in the pic for long time up till now. Copps mentioned the fish was sold at USD8000 in Japan. There is also another pair caught and sold to Japan BBox where it is later sold to HK Dr Wing. Everyone can see the youtube video of his pair posted before. Summing up these are the only three occurrences of personatus in Japan for the recent few years. There are more but was ancient history so not worth mentioning. With the hawaii divers diving deeper and deeper, these fishes will now appear with more regularity albeit still rare. Thanks to technology advancement tat we are being offered one now, though at a price unreachable by most. Let's hope someone (an angelfish freak of course) will be brave enough to pull the trigger so we can all admire the beauty of this fish in person at LCK!
