  1. Haha ok, but like u said i already hav both so prob no. Anyway there are still some carrib blue seafan left at LCK in the seahorse tank. U can check them out the next time u go LCK.
  2. The soft corals at CF are already quite nice, tat's why i'm always drooling and excited over them when i'm there. But u all always "look down" on the corals and me. Under the T5 lights the sarcophytons actually exhibit different and nicer shades of green which my camera cannot capture. Never mind i'll soon change camera so until then..
  3. The blue seafan is indeed gorgeous like u said. I've poor records w NPS corals. I tried many seafans before and they all die in a short time due to lack of feeding. But when i see these rare blue seafans at LCK brought in during carribbean shipment, at $20 for a v big brunch, spread almost 1.5ft length, it's so hard to resist and i bought one to try. However i remain pessimistic and believe it's beauty will be shortlived. To my surprise i'm so wrong, it's not as hard as other seafans i've tried before, with only one to two feedings of cyclopeeze per day it remains open most of the time. I hope it'll continue to do well for me. Sadly seafan is a no-no in your soon to be fully SPS tank, they require quite a high amount of feedings and the rise in nutrient level will be harmful to your SPS.
  4. No, octo and bubble the sting too powerful, plus this tank is softies only. Your octo how? Got any heads not opening up?
  5. Sold le. It's 3.5 inches already when it was sold, it grow v fast.
  6. Me too, i wan flavicauda and tuxedo damsel. Hope one day can get canary damsel and the rusty flame also. I cant imagine how beautiful my tank will be if can obtain and add all these "nonsense" fishes.
  7. Ya i'l be adding the above mentioned "nonsense" fish plus a pair of clowns(which i haven decided wat clowns to get) and one helfichi and maybe one ventralis as well...
  8. Haha of all pple i least expect to hear good comments from u. I'm so surprise u find the tank nice?! Haha cos i always remember when i'm choosing those big brown softies at CF u are always behind me shaking your head and saying: "Ah yo why your taste of corals so....! Wat u like this piece?! It's so nonsense!" I find w a sanded the tank will look better. But sandbed so mafan so forget it, so i can forget abt keeping feminus wrasse as well. The rockscape is almost identical to the structure of the rockscape when it's fish only before. I jux merely added few more rocks and fill it up w soft corals. The "nonsense" fishes are all small, although i added so many they dun even seem like taking up much space in the tank. But the tank is definitely more vibrant w these little fishes interacting w each other and darting in and out of the rocks. I'm adding more "nonsense" fishes next week.
  9. I dunno how true, I'm quite skeptical also of wat he told me. But i cant verify that cos only started reefing 7 years ago, 15-20 years ago i'm only like less than ten and still in pri school and only know goldfishes and guppies.
  10. Wa $70 for a rusty like dwarf angel more than ten years ago is v ex. Most likely it's a true shepardi den. A senior reefer told me 15-20 years ago bandit angel is only $200 each.
  11. The damsel (if it's a damsel, cos look like some juvenile bream also) looks a bit like the beautiful Amblypomacentrus breviceps.
  12. The "nonsense" fishes, except for the conspic...
  13. Some decent (well i tried my best) shots i can get on the corals: The blue carribbean seafan from LCK is surprisingly doing well w jux one or two times a day feed w expired cyclopeeze. My gorgonian does not open big, envy wilsontan's gorgonian so much!
  14. Torture time again w my lousy camera. Next year i'll switch to a DSLR i swear!! In the meantime jux hav to bear w it. After such a long while my tank is back to softies again. This time w even more cheap and beautiful softies (Well i know most of u are probably shouting out now: OMG the corals are UGLY!). The tank look so empty but there are actually a lot of small "nonsense" fishes swimming around: 5x chromis lineata (I love them, but v fragile, hope all 5 survive) 5x banggai cardinal (my favourite currently, they school rather tightly) 2x bartlett (dun like them, fierce and fight a lot) 5x flavo anthias (two still hiding, too small for my liking) 1x hanae goby (growing on me, more and more bold during feeding) 3x Dispar anthias (if not for the alpha males at Ah Beng...) 2x Rolland damsel (Indo version i got at $1 each, but one of it went missing since day one)
  15. Lemon i think u forgotten or din click to enlarge vt snowman pics. The goby should be Valenciennea Wardii (Tiger watchman goby). The rarer V.Helsdingeni is in the same tank but vt snowman did not take a pic of it, the pic shown are the caged ones which are the more common V.Wardii.
  16. Sad to hear tat of your clownfish pair, esp for it to happen to a pair of v expensive clowns. My snowflake clown also suffered the same fate when it got sucked into the hose of my skimmer and is shredded to nothing, these tank-raised clowns are so small and vulnerable to the suction force of our equipments. Glad to hear tat your clown pairs are under the care of a vet reefer cos nobody else here in SRC i'm sure will be able to nurse it back to health. However if the clowns are exactly like wat u've described, i doubt it can survive and heal, dun be too sad if they cant make it. Also did anything bad happen to your black tang tat u are giving it off for free instead of selling it?
  17. Depends on u buy it from wat point of view. If u buy it thinking it's a hybrid, den yes why buy it?! But if u buy it becos it's a flame w unique aberrant markings, then v worth it cos this aberrations of little black bars are v rare and hard to come by, something like marquesas flames. And of course when lemon bought it he's thinking of the latter so it's perfectly understandable.
  18. Sounds like ich (fine white spots) killed your fishes. Tangs are v prone to ich especially in a new setup. There are some crawling parasitic isopods as big as a sesame seed, those will attach to fishes particularly on the fins but will rarely cause death so we can rule that out. So wat killed your fishes is most probably ich, the most commonly encountered problem in this hobby. 9W UV is v small, in fact reefers always go for oversized UV, like 36W and above. UV does help but is only good at prevention rather than cure. Since your tank now is most likely having an outbreak of ich, UV is probably not going to work unless u can get a very oversized one. Since u're keeping corals, the best method now is to keep your tank fishless for a few weeks (preferably up to one month) and continuously run your 9W UV, then after u can start stocking but do it slowly about one fish a week if u can control. Read up on marine ich, there are already a lot of info on the web. U can also try some of the reesafe medication meant for ich, but i would not recommend that as i've tried tonnes of products and all useless. The best cure and prevention to ich is patience and QT. Wavemaker is good to install one. Tangs are fast swimming fishes that enjoy a high amount of water flow. So install a wavemaker, your fishes and corals will all be happier.
  19. Bottom left flame angel looks like the shepardi x flame hybrid at RB tat u bought.
  20. Ah Beng has Two mitratum basslet One collettei basslet or susumi basslet not v sure Many alpha male dispar
  21. PM u. Your fishes will be in good hands if they are w me. I've a 5ft tank currently.
  22. Awesome rockscape, simple yet elegant! Nice clownfishes. But a bit too many blue tangs..
  23. Where got MIA v long! Was only v busy for the past week. But LFS side were quiet too so it's fine. Hope this week will hav some surprises. Vanuatua and WI i'll be looking forward to.
  24. Hmm ugly? Holanthias unimaculatus is deepwater and v v rare from Japan, one of the rarest anthias from Japan local waters like pseudanthias rubrolineatus. The Japanese are paying more than 1.5k for a live one. It's unfair to say it's ugly fish as the one in pic is not healthy and is breaking down. A better pic of a healthy fish in a LFS for sale
