OMG! Look at these hybrids and rare fishes!
Digiman replied to Digiman's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Starcki is also considered one of the more peaceful damsel, but they'll still fight w other damsels. Whereas Rollandi is v peaceful, it does not even disturb other damsels. -

Since we are on the topic of damsels, let me introduce two other perfect damsels for home aquarium. I'm still waiting for them to be imported! 1) Tuxedo Damsel, found in fiji and vanuatu shipment. Inexpensive and uncommon. Small and peaceful. 2) Canary Damsel, found in cook island shipment. Inexpensive and uncommon. Small and peaceful, deepwater. Damsels are not boring! -

This rollandi damsel is the fiji variant. This fiji rollandi is more colourful den the indo rollandi and price is also higher. Rollandi damsel is a small and peaceful damsel. Me and a few reefers here have kept this fiji variant before and i am sure they, like me, have found this fiji variant much more nicer den the indo one and is a fish full of character. LCK has a ready supply of these fiji rollandi but at a price of $45 not many are willing to buy. Below is the more common and less colourful indo rollandi: -

All the lunatus pics posted here before are all pics of lunatus in the wild. But the one i jux posted is a male in the LFS. Wild pic and captivity pic can differ by a lot! So in captivity the fish can be v disappointing. -

Den lunatus is quite ugly. If i see this in japan LFS i prob wont even notice it! On the other hand male psychedelic wrasse can be so beautiful. Sadly they're such heartbreaker, often ship poorly and die fast in captivity. -

Is this a lunatus fairy? Pic taken at an LFS in Japan. If lunatus looks like this it's a bit disappointing, no wonder not expensive. -

Ya my canary damsel! Henry brought in so many cooks ventralis anthias but zero canary damsel! Ok mux talk to John as well regarding cooks shipment.

Abei is also found in indonesia at 400 feet. Mux hire diver w a rebreather to dive down to 400 feet in indonesia to collect abei and narcosis! Interesting that steinhart has kept two nigriocella. Japan has one narcosis before posted by koji wada long time ago which is may be gotten from richard pyle's collection. Anyway narcosis may one day appear again cos someone has ordered two peppermint angels and the cook divers are gg to dive all the way down to collect the peppermints soon if all works out. Den perhaps when they are hunting for the peppermint below, they may catch a narcosis if they so happen to chance upon one!
-
Narcosis is so deep and so rare, deeper den peppermint! Nigriocella is a v interesting angel. It's so shallow and has a wide range but is so rare that it is not seen much. No captivity record. But it's an ugly angelfish unlike narcosis. Ya our multi all shallow captured. No point diving to 300 feet to catch the same thing which can be found quite abundant jux at 100 feet deep.
-
There're two other dwarf that one can only dream of obtaining even w a lot of money, the narcosis angelfish and the nigriocellus angelfish. narcosis: nigriocellus:

A normal crown multicolor is really normal. U can see many normal ones at LCK now. But a big crown will be different, though some may argue the diff is too subtle. But to me it's a lot nicer: A normal one: And a totally different angel, the nahackyi angel:

Giv it sometime. They will starve for a while before taking food. But if they are too stressed from shipping and may hav developed some internal problems which is not uncommon for dwarf angels, den it'll die in about a week. If not it should start eating soon cos lemonpeel is an easy angel. Good luck. -
Lemon your yellow declivis is as hard as my big crown multicolor: Like u i only saw it once at Iwarna and after tat no more! Regret not getting it den. As u hunt for your declivis next time during hawaii shipment i'll comb for my big crown multicolor!
-
If u tell CF and LCK to bring in the declivis declivis and not the wilderi declivis, i tell u they will give u this blur look and thinking wat the hell u talking about. They dunno the diff one, and to them the difference is negligible and they will not be willing to go thru the trouble to help u special order or request for the fish cos there is no profit in doing so and their supplier will prob not entertain these kind of requests also!
-
This is the yellow declivis of poe-poe.com and i think it's gorgeous:
-
No la it's actually quite hard for the US to get declivis w a lot of yellow. The yellow on and off will appear. U've to be v opportunistic, go to every hawaii shipment and be the first to search all the declivis tat come in, den u'll stand a higher chance to find a nice yellow one.
-
Ya Marc i mux thank u too, at least my vanderbilt in Iwarna's display did not die in vain! It managed to capture the attention of one more reefer before its death and attracted u to keep more of its kind. That chromis is the martyr of the vanderbilts. I dunno everthing la! I jux read more about fishes tat's all, cos i'm a fish geek. But when it comes to corals i'm hopeless. Lemon can testify tat cos he always roll his eyes whenever i show him the corals i like at CF.
-
New year resolution is simple for me: I mux get a rusty flame angel!
-
Tat's why i feel like buying a few more vanderbilt and put in iwarna's display to help promote the fish. But whenever i thought of how auntie and victor despised my fish it jux does not make sense for me to fork out my own money to buy the chromis to put in their tanks!
