Well done! There are two types of purple queen anthias from philippines, Pseudanthias Tuka and Pseudanthias Pascalus. Males are hard to distinguish but females and juveniles are v easy to tell the difference! Tuka has a yellow stripe on the back whereas pascalus dun hav. This is a female Tuka purple queen: This is a female Pascalus Purple queen: So next time when u are at LFS to buy purple queen, ask yourself whether u are catching tuka or pascalus

About 2 red notes. -
Ok here goes, for this fish ID i need scientific name as the common name can be misleading. Hint: This fish is occasionally available in our LFS thru philippines shipment but most pple including the LFS owner dunno wat this fish is. Both females and males are seen in the pic above. Remember provide the scientific name!
-
Nope not ventralis either. Below is ventralis: U can see the body shape is totally different, so the anthias above is not ventralis. Try again
-
Good try but no, not as rare as privitera anthias. May appear in singapore thru hawaii shipment, but the fish is not caught in hawaii. Try again:) Below is a privitera anthias, u can see it's more yellow than the anthias above. SO the above is not privitera!

Exactly i feel that it's a centropyge too but there's no centropyge tat i dunno and yet i cant tell wat it is from the tail! Mux be something rare, hybrid perhaps, or could be a small juvenile tat colours has not yet fully developed! -

No it's not shepardi. Cos these "shepardi" was from bluezooaquatics thru their cebu supply, so it must be rusty flame. But it's so shepardi like, tat's why John strongly feels that the shepardi at Guam is a result of hybridization. -

Ya most likely a hybrid. This below belongs to John Copps also has v little blue at the dorsal and ###### fins. V shepardi lookalike, so nice, but sadly did not survive. It costs USD300+ from bluezooaquatics. -

Haha, very fitting, Anthias anthias, the mother of all anthias! Very deepwater and not available in the trade. Meet the mother of all anthias: -

Digiman replied to Digiman's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Hmm on careful inspection of the purple, it seems to ends off mid-body, so it may be a colour morph of pictichromis paccagnellae instead of pseudochromis diadema. Or even better it may be a hybrid between the two. These group of fish can be v confusing. V interesting! -

Digiman replied to Digiman's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
V nice. But it's not a hybrid. It's an unusual colour morph of pseudochromis diadema. There is a famous and v impressive colour morph from Dr Tanaka: P.Diadema is quite variable in colour pattern much like flame angelfish. Under rare occasions specimens like the one u posted and Dr tanaka's specimen will be found. I'll see u soon to collect the fish. But if u really like it v much do let me know. -

Weekly update 29 nov to 05 dec
Digiman replied to a topic in Weekly LFS Stocks Report / LFS Info Centre
People normally keep all triggerfish in FOWLR tank becos of their destructive nature. However there are a few species more suited to reef tank than others. Following in order of suitability with most suitable first: Blue Jaw triggerfish (Xanthichthys auromarginatus) / Many LFS will carry these when in season, normally small around 3 inches. Crosshatch Triggerfish (Xanthichthys mento) / V beautiful and quite expensive for a trigger. LCK, CF, RB can all obtain them in their hawaii shipments, fish is normally big at 7 to 8 inches. So pls do research before u buy. Pink Tail Triggerfish (Melichthys vidua) / Common fish, AH Beng and CF constantly have them. Hawaiian Black Triggerfish (Melichthys niger) / CF currently has these black beauty. Here is a good source for reading: Reef-safe Triggerfish -

They dun hav xanthotis. CF jux recently hav xanthurus angelfish from their maldive shipment though. For those who are wondering what are the differences between xanthotis(rare) and xanthurus(more common), the difference is v v subtle: The white is much more vibrant on the body of A.Xanthotis and the black on the dorsal area is also much more pronounced than A.Xanthurus. However for juvenile/sub-adults, these differences may not be v obvious and the fish will look v similar and lead to confusion. Below are two adults for clear comparisons: Xanthotis: and the creamer coloured xanthurus: -

Plectranthias Kellogi, a rare but inexpensive perchlet that is only caught in Japan. Apolemichthys xanthotis, a rare angelfish from Red-sea that occasionally enters the trade. But in singapore we can only dream of getting this fish becos our redsea supplier are rather useless in providing other fishes except for purple tang and golden butterfly. Centropyge flavipectoralis, a common and unpopular dwarf angel posted earlier by lemon. V few pple are able to see beauty in this fish. Cirrhilabrus Sp. Number wat sp mux will need lemon to chime in as well as the common name. Sakura Anthias, from Japan. Unpopular becos of it's cooler water need. RB brought in before, shown is a male which is more colourful den a female. Privitera Anthias, from cook island deepwater. A surprisingly easy anthias despite being a deepwater fish. Most expensive anthias currently in the market, each fish is about USD1200.
