Take care and thanks for the kind words to the people here. Cheers!

Been using the wavebox for a long time (believe I was one of the 1st to get hold of one locally).... I do not see a weakening of the tank joints under strain. I believe when it happens, it will be a real catastrophic disaster!
-
Fully submerged, the wavebox is made redundant. Its no different from a stream unit that pulses. You need the air volume displaced to move enough water, therefore you need the wavebox to suck in air.... as LP says, u need at least 2 - 2.5" of space.

How do you decide on Skimmer Size?
Achilles Tang replied to keetkeet's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Ok, IMO, a berlin system would have to depend on a good skimmer. There is rarely a case of overskimming, esp in a new tank. And a mixed reef. There are many types of skimmers available - needlewheel, beckett-types, airstone etc. You'll have to find one that fits your space and budget. You can grow a refugium for nutrient export. Let me know, I have loads of chaeto to get rid off! -

How much space do you have below or beside your tank? And what's your budget like, for initial purchase and maintainance? -

Most skimmers are limited by the technology, size and cost. It's an area where experts and hobbyists alike are forever debating which is better. In a ideal world we have all the space and cash to buy the best. Perhaps ideally, you can start with the size of tank and what kind of inhabitants you intend to keep first. -
There's so many kinds of log books around... you'll be spoilt for choice. Me? I have stopped keeping logs... hehehee....

Suncorals are not banned. They are plentiful in the sea.

I have been reading what's happening and I really do not want to step in because this is clearly business politics from two competitors (and their partners/supporters/distributors) who have common interest to see a clear win, mainly their own. I strongly urge that both parties keep to facts and refrain from casting allegations on each other's characters because there will be no clear winners on this, the damage to both parties will impact both of you. I strongly urge that you TELL your supporters this too. Keep away from pouring oil to fire or risk being burnt. Singapore is too small, we KNOW who has vested interests in WHAT business. Just keep to posting clear facts in a cordial manner, DON'T comply and I'll close this thread down. All others: Be nice now or be quiet.

Need I remind everyone here to keep the Golden Rules here in SRC or face suspension? Rudeness IS NOT tolerated.

What's happening here? And what's the aim of all this backstabbing?

That could be an unlikely answer but erm... the most straightforward answer is that the specimen is somehow stressed. A strong anemone would have its foot planted down somehow and not be easily floating around for no good reason. Perhaps you can put it in a less turbulent part of the tank, perhaps have it gently wedged near some rocks so it will become comfortable enough to secure its footing. Watch it closely, if it shows signs of 'melting' remove it from the tank!

Guys, You are all outdated. This guy has the latest gadget in town! It's the latest Anti-Vandalism Detection Device, called P.I.M.P.L.E.S. or Panoramic Indentifier (of) Mischief Perpetrators - Lethal Effect System) Remember the recent cases of carpark vandalisms? This is car is WELL PROTECTED! The nodules contain sensors offering 360 degrees protection all around! When activated, any person with ill-intentions coming up to ANY PART of this car will be instantly detected and warned off at low settings. Turn it high and this system will shoot out a lethal electrical discharge at vandals and also double-up as a parking distance alert device, so parking in low-ceilinged, cramped places is a cinch! Personally, I believe the PIMPLES device will prevent vandalism by turning off people from even taking a second look at the car!

Patrick, lucky you... coz she had so many orders she forgot yours... actually she told me she made an exception for you because you called from overseas, Bangkok? and made an order without even paying beforehand. Anyway, in all fairness, you should tell how well you were compensated. -
Perhaps they are not getting enough dissolved oxygen in the water? Do you have a skimmer working? Can you give more details on your tank setup pls.

OMG!! That's so creative! You'll gonna start a new trend! -
Xenia is known to smell. Dead ones are worse! They are also quite sensitive to changes in water conditions. The jury is out on how well they keep. Some have good success, some have failures. Iodine supplements are supposedly helpful for xenia.

You should place Gorniopora on the sandbed, they will thrive better.

These are soft corals. Definitely not SPS, which are hard corals!

MS Antispyware has a limited life right? Mine doesn't activate anymore.

Surfing doesn't take up CPU cycles! I did a test and the max when surfing in SR site was 25% for a sec before dropping to 0% again. Suspect you have some background processes that are running... and possibly even some that are unauthorized ie. trojan horses that use up your bandwidth and CPU to send spam without your knowing. It's a common problem now, esp for those who are not IT savvy and protected! Do you have a firewall and do you have any anti-hacking, anti-adware software running?
