At $60 a bottle, it is definitely not a long term solution.... that should be accomplished by your DSB or plenum or ample liverock. But for a quick almost INSTANT solution, AZNO3 is the best! I have a bottle on standby actually.... heh!

How is that possible? The mouth of a seahorse is tubelike and so small... only live mysis or brine shrimp can fit in!

There is a product called AZNO3 that works very well in reducing high nitrates to almost zero in a couple of days. You can get it from fishnfriends.com, the distributor of AZNO3 and P0-4 minus. It's an enzyme formula causes your protein skimmer to go crazy and it will export out your nitrates via it. I have used it before in the past and will recommend it.

It's just not happy with the water yet. It will slough off the outer layer from time to time... it's normal.

It seems to be dinoflagettes. They are photosynthetic so they do thrive under light. There may be no detectable NO2 or NO3 but you could have a high DOM or phosphate level. Did you test for those? It is pointless to just change water... you have to use a toothbrush to scrape them off and syphon as much as possible. If not, make sure they are suspended in the water column and use filter wool to strain the water. Once the water is clearer, throw away the filter wool to avoid them reproducing or reintroducing them back into the system. Those fur like stuff that is not moving is a strain of hair algae. If it moves quickly like little fleas, then its pods, which is good.

I think it might be a bit too long for your tank. The reflector is exactly 5 ft long. The lights that are 4' 4" put end to end.

If it's 'armoured' and looks like a ancient fossil called trilobyte, then its a Chiton. They are harmless and are commonly found as hitchhikers in liverock.

I don't see anything else except a nudibranch inside!

Morgan, I killed another aiptasia pest in my macroalgae in my refugium last week. I used the kalkwasser paste injection method... it's fast and effective. They die within minutes, shrivel and drop off easily for siphoning.
