  1. Oh yeah? Then what have they been practicing all these years? Death by tickling? Laughing gas?
  2. Nah... don't overeact. It may not even happen. Well, even if you have an explosion of baby worms... there are some fishes or shrimps that do dine on bristleworms eg. Coral Banded Shrimps, wrasses etc.
  3. Congrats... its bristleworm spawning time! You're gonna have thousands of bristleworms like Barracuda's girlfriend's tank! A crawling moving sandbed!
  4. This thread will be closed soon as it is really really old. Why don't you post your query in a new thread?
  5. Yeah mine too... in fact, it looks quite so much like LR that I am tempted to stick frags on it.
  6. I bet Bush and his Dad must be dancing their alabama jig now.
  7. How in the world did this happen? That's one very strong tree or a very tin-foil car!
  8. No.. i mean these flatworms are the same ones that eat copepods... they may also prey on other flatworms.
  9. I didn't know that I am that popular! I'm a lover of the AT as well. Still looking out for a show grade specimen.
  10. Try to look out for another kind of flatworm, the white kind with the fork tail. It is usually much larger than the reddish photosynthetic ones that usually plagues our tanks.
  11. lights. skimmer. knowledge. patience. the ability to explain things in detail.
  12. Gee... it appears that you have zero knowledge about the marine hobby! It's going to be an enormous task for anyone to answer you in details for all your questions as it would have to take you at least 5 hours of reading on the internet or books on these basics. It's your responsibility as a hobbyist to know what you are getting into before starting a marine tank. And you have to do your homework. We can point you the way... but you need to put in your own effort. After studying and researching and you still have doubts about certain facts that are not covered in your reading materials... pls do post questions and we will be more than willing to offer advice and tips. First off... 1. Buy some marine books - eg. A good book is Aquarium Corals by Eric Borneman. 2. Go to the links pinned up in the New to the Hobby forum here in SRC and digest everything. Don't rush thru it. Try to UNDERSTAND the concepts and logic of things & how they work before rushing to your tank and doing something. Study the pros and cons of methods. Study the housing and feeding requirements of every marine species of corals, inverts and fishes. Study their compatibility. Study the various types of equipment people use in this hobby. 3. Carry on to read, read and read. Knowledge is key to success in this hobby when used wisely with patience. Having lots of money also helps coz you can buy the right kind of equipment right from the start. 4. There is no shortcut to the reef hobby except towards a tank crash, livestock deaths and failure in this hobby. Good luck, my friend... we'll be here for you!
  13. That is a parasitic isopod on your clownfish. Good that you have managed to remove it. Your flame angel may be suffering from ich as copepods do not climb on fishes.
  14. Get a large syringe and suck them up. If you squash them by hand, depending on your allergy levels, you may end up in hospital. No kidding. Logically, if zoanthids are toxic and the nudibranchs eat them, the toxins are in the nudibranchs too.

  16. I think it should be Lelong, lelong... I was wondering who you were calling... how many Leongs are there in SRC?
  17. Interesting... I have tunicates growing in my tank but have never seen anything like this before. Are they soft to the touch or hard?
  18. Yazid, I like to be the first in line to 'borrow' this flatworm-eater! My flatworms are growing out of control too... very sickening.
  19. You can make a break siphon. Simply drill a tiny hole on the return pipe into the tank, just below the water surface. Once the water level drops... the siphon effect will be broken once air rushes in, ie... no more water back into the sump. But you have to make sure that no algae or snail is blocking the hole when that happens... or... Alternatively, a water check valve would be good. Get the swing types rather than the ball types as it does affect water flow greatly.

  21. Nice pix! I have been to the similan islands at least 3 or 4 times... but its always been above water... sport fishing!! Time to make my pilgrimage back there... but UNDERWATER this time! Hey... why don't you read up the UW photo processing tips in this forum.... you can use photoshop to add back the red colours that are lost underwater and remove the heavy blue and greens. You can then resize and then sharpen the pix. You will get more realistic photos...
  22. I'm honestly stumped! What in the world is that??!
