  1. Sure.... but the drip method is less time-wasting... end up, you'll just pour everything in... hahahah... the slurry method is probably applicable to those with big tanks/water volume.
  2. Kalkwasser has a very high PH.... pouring it into your tank will cause a PH spike, stressing or killing your tank inhabitants. You have to administer kalkwasser by dosing or dripping it slowly... preferably at night so it will help to maintain your PH levels in your tank at a constant level (as PH drops at night). For advanced aquarist who know what they are doing, they can mix the slurry into a highly turbulent area of their sump (anthony calfo method)... the risk is undissolved kalk particles burning livestock or pumps being choked/damaged due to kalk/calcium deposits buildup. Do it the safe way... drip it.
  3. Hi Weiloong, You're using a low-res cam? Pix kinda blurred. No point leaving the coral chips in your sump... they will just trap detritus.. unless you want pods to grow in there. Looks like a nice pod pile.
  4. You need to read more about the requirements about SPS corals. Like I said... lights is just one part of the equation.
  5. The keeping of SPS corals in a small tank is possible but there is much much more to keeping SPS WELL then just lights. You have to make sure your water parameters are excellent eg. very low phosphates, constant cal and alk levels, ample circulation etc. It's possible to have adequate lighting with T5s but you may end up with only brown SPS for a very very long time due to this combined with other reasons. You should be asking Danano as he is our resident Nano-Keeper of Great Fame.
  6. Last's year's X'mas avatars!!! Here's Tanzy's....
  7. Tangs release their eggs in mid column water, so a very very tall tank at least 15 ft is needed. Also their eggs are pelagic as they are left to drift... I don't think even public aquariums have been able to breed tangs, you're better off just thinking of keeping them in a suitably sized tank with ample swimming space.
  8. Ain't no dive shop. She runs the dive resort in Trang with a few buddies.
  9. 1.032???!!!! That's incredibly high!!! Do you mean 1.023?
  10. Hmmm.... a complete set of 4 Tunze streams + controllers.
  11. Interesting thread guys... pls keep the peace. In dinosaur's defence... I have read and re-read his postings regarding his concerns and advice and detect no hint of malice. There should be no need for hostility and over-sensitivity with regards to his advice. My 2 cents.
  12. Hi Dan... thanks for the compliments! Trying to be just like you! Pro! Still a long way to go...heheh... no $ for strobes.
  13. It's hydrogen sulfide you're smelling... remember that dense LR is good for denitrification ie. reducing nitrates naturally? Well... now that you broke it... I guess there goes the anaerobic areas now. You can wash off the stinky areas and reuse the LR.
