  1. Never NEVER never dose what you cannot measure.... overdosing is not a joke. You can't press the undo button.
  2. Nope... I won't do that. Marino, its your SRC T-shirt. I'll leave it somewhere where its convenient for your pickup. Appreciate the gesture though!
  3. Marine Aquarium Equipment category. Where I have moved this out to from the Product Review category where you post this thread.
  4. My starfire glass pane cost me around $700 alone. Here's some info on starfire glass vs ordinary float glass
  5. You are going to have a headache trying to keep the partition wall clean of algae. Interesting concept though. Maybe I can put a partition across my tank so I have a full fledged reef tank behind and I can keep a trigger or some angels in front!
  6. Most fishes will change colour as they grow from juveniles to adults....
  7. Jeepers! Mandai?? Man!! Anyone can give AT a lift? Or help me buy one?
  8. None. We are off topic. Let's keep this thread about kalk dosing only. Thanks.
  9. AT's 101 ways to cure LR.. well, not exactly 101... 1. Get large fibreglass tubs. 2. Run saltwater at high speeds using a good pump or powerheads to reduce dead spots and remove detritus. 3. Get a very good skimmer to deal with all the scum/dissolved organics/dieoffs produced. 4. Pull out all the algae and dying organisms like sponges, tunicates, dying corals on the LR etc. 5. Extract any worms and mantis shrimp via pinchers or by letting the rocks dry up slightly enough for them to come crawling out. 6. Change the water out frequently. 7. Test the water until no more ammonia, nitrites and nitrates are detected... that indicates that the aerobic and anaerobic bacteria in the LR have established themselves enough to deal with the nitrogen cycle. 8. You can add calcium & alk to the water so that coralline algae will grow over the white spots on the LR.
  10. You are adding calcium & alkalinity with kalk. But kalkwasser does not add a lot of calcium enough for hard corals esp. SPS. For a softy tank, it may suffice. The only way is to measure your calcium depletion rate. Using a ca reactor or dosing calcium chloride is the best way to add large amounts of calcium to your tank, not kalk dosing. If you are using a CA reactor, that should provide most of the trace elements already, except iodine & magnesium (which can be added via pure dolomite in the CA reactor).
  11. Get Starfire glass! Extremely clear, distortion and green tint free, unlike ordinary float glass. You get very close to overhead viewing true-colours looking through Starfire glass. Quite a few people have noted that they can see the difference between their ordinary glass and the starfire glass that I am using for my tank. Worthwhile investment.
  12. Need it to fine-tune my bubble count even further. Thanks! AT
  13. Someone posted a pix of this before... but I finally found the link! The "AquaDom" in the CityQuartier "DomAquarée"
  14. Morgan.... this tank is so much like yours! So much space!!! Inspired yet? *Drool* Apparently, he is using ozone in addition to his huge skimmer to maintain such a huge bioload! Check it out here! No details on his tank setup though.
