  1. Love the battle scenes..... but it was an anti-climax how the Witch King was brought down.
  2. Just watched it a few hours ago! Cool show... enjoyed it except for the ending... hehehe... no spoilers from me... go catch it. And do remember to shout out 'Mr Anderson' everytime Agent Smith aka the Elf leader, finishes his sentence...
  3. To answer the question fully... No, a FBJ cannot replace a skimmer. A skimmer should complement a biological filter because a skimmer exports out dissolved organics and thus helps to greatly ease the bioload off a biological filter.
  4. It is good advice to not dose what you can't test. Overdosing due to not testing beforehand is not a good idea because of possible water chemistry imbalance, which can be a headache to solve.
  5. Ordinary untreated glass will not shatter immediately but will develop cracks first but upon shattering, will be breaking into shards of very sharp glass, enough to kill or badly maimed anyone within range. Basically, tempered glass is lot more stronger but once stressed or hit, will shatter into thousands of rounded bits without sharp edges. IMO, It's safer to use tempered glass in most sense... like car windshields, but you have to be careful not to throw things around the house.
  6. I hope you meant flushing, exposing & curing the LR and not the shrimps! Getting a small octopus (NOT the venemous Blue Ring Octopus) will usually help in clearing away crabs and shrimps. Or you can employ the services of a hungry trigger. (I hope you have nothing else in your tank). Then you have to figure out how to get those out.
  7. I love loaches! The are so cute... I miss having them.
  8. Sounds like your LR is uncured. Lots of stuff still dying and adding in another ammonia source like the dead fish may have pushed your tank into a crash. Suggest a 100% water change and restart the cycling. Washing the rocks in FW may have killed off the useful bacteria anyway.
  9. You can create one of your own in IRC. I'm not creating one as I have given my reasons before.
  10. Yes, increase the salinity to 1.023. Sorry, joking... but it'll work for sure.
  11. Correction: 1. As long as there is trickling of water through media, be it sand, coral chips, plastic balls, aerobic bacteria will use up oxygen. 2. Aerobic Bacteria will die off regardless of whether its a trickle filter, FBF, canister, sump... as long as oxygen is depleted for whatever reasons. Bioballs, FBF, trickle filters will all produce nitrates because you can't run away from the fact they are ideal conditions for aerobic bacteria (which does the job well of converting ammonia and nitrites to NITRATES). Fouling due to entrapment of bio-matter will happen to a different extend with each method but much lesser with the FBF. Most systems can cope with ammonia and nitrites once the bacteria is established when the cycling period is over. It's the problem of having a tank that processes nitrates naturally instead of troublesome water changes, setting up a hard to tune denitrator, using expensive enzymes such as AZNO3 etc... and that's where NNR comes in, eg. the use of DSB or ample LR.
  12. Yeah lah... you organise a LAN party by each friend bringing along their own pc and playing LAN games at someone's house.
  13. Local Area Network gaming. Playing PC games on a local network.
  14. You don't have to drill holes into the tank to make it a sump... you probably just need to silicon partitions in it for baffles. Besides, once the glass is tempered, you can't drill it. It's up to you to decide if you want a bigger tank or not. We really can't decide for you!
  15. Oh misread... only 2 pieces are not LR... hmm... but seriously, those are the strangest LR I have ever seen!!
