  1. Hmmm... you are not that new to SRC... you have 98 posts already. Take a look at my signature... there are certain rules and guidelines that all members have to follow or there will be total chaos in SRC. Addressing this thread: 1. You have to describe your thread a little better eg. LCK 110.. what is that? What you should have titled your thread is: Should I get a marine tank that is similar to the one at LCK110? 2. This thread should be in the Marine Aquarium Equipment forum... where people discuss all the hardware and stuff. Normally, we will delete such threads in our daily housekeeping routine.... as we expect all members to comply accordingly. But I'm going to guide you along but next time... cannot ok? I'm going to rename your thread from 'LCK 110' to 'Should I get a marine tank that is similar to the one at LCK110?' and move out your thread into the Marine Equipment Forum. AT
  2. As long as you detect a high enough ammonia spike, the prawn has done its work. You can remove it if its too large and threatens to crash the tank... or though I highly doubt it. It may get eaten by bristleworms or crabs if they are present. I heard of a story where a reefer put half a barramundi fish inside his tank to kickstart the cycle... needless to say, his house stank and his tank crashed.
  3. Hi Hermit... do you know the golden rule about thread titles?
  4. We have a ID forum that you ask for IDing help! Click here!
  5. I usually go to bed at 5am these days.... Keeping SRC alive, interesting by posting stuff, giving advice, answering PMs & managing flame wars means the Administrator and the Mods have to work hard so that the reefing community in Singapore is happy and satisfied. AT
  6. A fresh water change is like a breath of fresh air after being stuck in a enclosed room full of people farting, sweating and burping after having a meal of curry, durian and whipped potatoes! From my experience, there are so much immediate benefits that I wonder why its so unmotivational when you will see corals having a growth spurt, looking better, having microlife explode again, stopping nuisance algae in their tracks until the nutrient levels creep up again... so get off your lazy butts, ye scurvy dogs and do that water change now!
  7. Tanzy, You win a 60 minute foot massage session by Cookiemunster. Congratulations!
  8. Voila.... bugs bunny, ice cream cone and drumstick, I am not!
  9. I know some reefers here who are rather pleased with the fact that they have never done a water change... perhaps this article here will change your minds on the benefits of water changes for your reef tank's sake.
  10. Pix of marine shrimps with scientific names for easier visual IDing. At your service, AT
  11. Another lookalike shrimp Lysmata seticaudata
  12. Do they look pale? Like this? Probably Lysmata rathbunae, not real Peppermint Shrimps but they do apparently do eat Aiptasia too.

  15. Tangs may be ok but you will definitely kill your clams, some soft corals, some inverts etc. I made this newbie mistake a long time ago courtesy of a LFS who assured me everything will be alright.
